  1. AHA! I said he'd have to have access to a key somehow! He does look fairly young in the new photos in the AJC. Early 20s, maybe? You're telling me.
  2. Well, it had to be someone who had a key to the vacant apt., or figured out how to get in, or had access to a key (son of apt. mgr., or something like that). My guess is the moron left his prints all over the door knob, etc. The latest AJC update only says the person in custody looked young. News conf. at 1:45.
  3. They closed the Brookstone/Mars Hill branch when they opened up the big branch on 41 in Acworth.
  4. I forgot about BB&T...I've never banked there, but I've heard great things about them. AND they didn't take any bailout money and actually have continued to make a profit during these hard times because of their conservative monetary approach.
  5. Well said, OP. Those fine men and women truly are the Greatest Generation. God bless them every one.
  6. AMEN TO THAT. Excellent points, all. Here's my question - who would have access to the vacant apartment? That should narrow it down substantially, unless the apt. mgt. left it unlocked, in which case they'd best be ready to hand over all their monies to this lady. Don't know how they could prove that, though...unless somebody had already accessed it and testified that it opened for them, etc.
  7. OH. In that case, IBM and Lockheed both have several metro branches. IBM has a nice location in Kennesaw across from CarMax just off Barrett Pkwy, another in one of the Wildwood buildings off Powers Ferry near 285, one downtown on Forsyth St., and one off E-W connector (at a street called Highlands Parkway). Lockheed has a big new one in Acworth on 41 where 92 intersects with it, the big Marietta location right near Lockheed (which I personally find a pain to get to), and probably some others that I don't know about. Also, the credit unions (these two, anyway) are linked so you can deposit
  8. A factoid that brings matters into a little better focus, IMHO.
  9. Hmmm...not sure if credit unions would do iphone deposits. Worth checking into, though.
  10. You're right...seems like the babysitter thing would have made them not take the kids, but who knows why they do what they do. Maybe she'll have them back soon, though. I feel for her, because it's hard for single mothers to do everything. Yes, I should think the other kids are totally traumatized.
  11. Dude. For what I pay, I expect excellent service. ( You know I love you. )
  12. I wondered about that, too, but I'm guessing most of them didn't know (and didn't think to check). I personally would, but I'm just weird like that. In the pics on the news last night, it didn't look like a slummy complex...the fencing around the playground area was not cheap and the landscaping looked good. Of course, as we have seen, that doesn't mean crap. I also read where the popo grilled all the area sex offenders and cleared them all. :sigh: I'm no fan of DFCS, but I see their point here. She was inside (probably asleep since she worked nights) and the kids were not well-
  13. Yep. That is to say, yep, havin' problems here, not yep you're the only one. heh
  14. Haven't heard anything about Chase; heard horror stories from many about WF. I use a credit union...I think their rules for membership have relaxed greatly in the last couple of years. It has all the features of a bank (online bill pay, etc.). PS - Congratulations again!
  15. I also totally agree with AGG and ES - you cannot let the little suckers out of your sight for even a minute. When my two nephews are with me, I am super vigilant. One of them is a 3rd-degree black belt in karate, and I still stand outside the men's room when we go to the movies and tell him to holler if somebody tries something (to which he rolls his eyes, but I don't care). Children are TREASURES, and should be guarded as such. Like AGG said, yes, we should be free to roam around. But as the lady who was so viciously murdered on the Silver Comet Trail found out, that's just not the worl
  16. IIRC, they did not search the dumpster until yesterday because of the volume of stuff in it. She was found at the bottom of the dumpster. Dear God in heaven...my heart hurts so badly over this poor child. There's not a place in hell too hot for this frickin' savage.
  17. There you go! Now we can find it without wandering in the wilderness!
  18. Negative - you're thinking of the Felix Family lights, and they are up and running. Cul-de-sac on first street to the left after you enter Oliver Place. The OP's house is in Riverwood in New Hope, and it is indeed very hard to find. We drove all OVER the place last year before we finally found it. And then got lost leaving. I like Ms. Ga. Storm's advice about GPS...
  19. Yeah, some crook or other butt-dialed 911 when he was holding up a Waffle House in Gainesville or somewhere awhile back. They caught him. DER...
  20. Fascinating. You can't kill the dang stuff...great idea if it works!
  21. The company where I currently work keeps our doors locked all the time, for which I am thankful. (They've had problems with former employees in the past, and now visitors have to ring the doorbell.) Anyhoo, when I worked in a larger office building, we had "office creepers"...they routinely go in looking like your average office worker bee and wander around looking for stuff. We were pretty careful, but one day all three of us were out of the office literally for five minutes - two of us left for lunch before the other got back. In that five minutes, an office creeper stole a laptop and ex
