  1. My nephew and I have watched this dozens of times (he's 4 and loves animal videos). Cute...
  2. Pubby's testing something...scroll down to find his original post.
  3. Grease is the word, you ninny.

  5. GROWS EVERYWHERE (except the Japanese variety which you originally mentioned). Click on the Clemson link in my post above for pics. The California privet doesn't have pics, but it's a non-variegated version of the Chinese privet at the bottom, and BELIEVE ME - it's like bamboo. If you got it, you are gonna have some WORK getting rid of it. Now, I have a small bush of it that blocks the view of a drainage area, and I keep it trimmed back and little suckers cut off at the ground. But it can really get out of hand. But the top pic is the one that refers to the one in your topic title. As I
  6. See? Here's a h8er. But I do believe this particular form of privet doesn't spread like the others. http://www.clemson.edu/extension/hgic/plants/landscape/shrubs/hgic1070.html
  7. Some people think all privet is the debil. But I've seen it work nicely, esp. as a privacy hedge. This one in particular makes a very nice hedge due to the larger leaves; a friend of mine planted some around his pool area. I personally would say it's a shrub that can grow really tall, like 10' or more, in the right conditions.
  8. I have seen this a LOT, and I always cringe. I suppose maybe there's two reds in the world where it wouldn't clash, but I can't think of any. To me, a front door should make a statement, and to do that, it must contrast somehow. I usually like a darker door (dark blue, dark green, black) on a brick house. I'm generally not a fan of blue on houses (just a weirdness with me), but there are some blues that work.
  9. House is a medium-darkish woodsy green with stacked stone and black accents (including front door). Pure white trim (it pops for this color of green...off-white would look icky). My back door is French doors leading from large kitchen onto screened-in porch/deck at back. They are currently painted white, which works well. I've gone back and forth in my mind about painting them black to match the front accents, but the only black accent I have on the back area is a nice light fixture. I'll prolly go the black route and see what I think when I get around to doing something about it.
  10. Mine's black. Red would look incredibly goofy on my house. But I do like red front doors in general. Mostly, I like a front door that really FITS the house.

    What my blonde sidekick said.
  12. I personally would GET A SURVEY. It's SOOOOO worth the $250-$300 it will cost. Trust me on this. I nearly had some problems with a former home because I didn't have one done. I would get a survey even if I were moving into a brand new subdivision (which I wouldn't do, but even if I were) where everything was marked off all nice and tidy. (I'd also get a home inspection on a new home but that's a topic for another day.)
  13. That was a blonde answer if ever I heard one.

Yeah, I think the evidence contamination was HUGE.
  15. I have heard MANY people say this, including people who have seizures which are triggered by these stupid things.
  16. And yes, we can thank that wonderful Republican Fred Upton of Michigan for pushing this through, and then promising to rescind it when he was re-elected, but has he? NO. BTW - Bless his heart, Il Postino is just flat wrong about the government making things cost less. The ONLY thing government does well is military, and even that has tremendous waste. As Margaret Thatcher said, the problem with socialism (i.e., government controlling everything) is that eventually you run out of other people's money.
  17. That's what you call interesting in a bad way. Yikes!
