On the bacon comment, Thank God you didn't go down the path that the closet Muslims on the site would take offense on religious grounds. Oh, and I do disagree ... the Devil tells the truth almost all the time ... it is the way that he sucks you into to his clutches and gains your trust ... like the Fox News. pubby

Employee's "Racist" Photo Sparks Outrage From Brookfield Zoo Customers
gpatt0n replied to Foxmeister's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Z Caring what some concession worker in some petting zoo in some state at least 500 miles from here is what makes it whatever kind of baiting it is. I would be interested if the kid had directed her slanderous and obnoxious comment at an individual and they had filed a slander suit as then, and only then, would we be treated to the greater truth behind freedom of speech ... whether the comment was true or not. Certainly in the abstract, all retail workers can say that they've had customers who were asses. Indeed, the addition of the race of the 'ass' might be both incidental, interc -

when you recognize that who is in the drivers seat is important, the reality is that those in the oligarchy are still running things and the best that we can expect from the federal politicians is that they contain the greed of the elite. But with two-billion dollar political campaigns now in play, don't think that either presidential candidate from either party is 'in control' ... or has been in recent memory (60-70 years). Unless or until we supplant private campaign cash with public financing; we're not a democracy, we're not a republic, we are an oligarchy. pubby

Lets face it, the problem is with the way the rules are interpreted and ultimately enforced. Is there a chance if a young adult living with their parents at the place had done what this young lady had done, would wiser heads in the community decided to let them get away with it for the day and instead hit the family with a bill for the violation and ban them all from the facility until things were resolved. Instead, the woman who made the main complaint, spouted the 'section 8 slanders' and all that jazz was intent on keeping those people in their place - embarrass them, bring in the musc

I'll consider that but do know they are not the only folks out there fighting this ranging from the Electronic Freedom Foundation to the aflcio ... with entities from like moveon, fight for the future, demand progress and even Bernie Sanders all opposing Obama and rejecting the fastrack for this and several other treaties that are being pushed. I read about one that would also be granted fast track approval with the TPP ... it is called TISA and is in some ways a larger deal than the TPP as it involves more nations in a Trade in Services Agreement. Here is an article about this treaty

I was interested in reading it. I've actually read various parts on wikileaks. Of course that is the joke of the site you make. Just try and read it However, from what I have read, I'm not particularly impressed with the rights it gives multinationals and the new court regime nor do I favor the moves involving expansion of copyright which I find, without a grand expansion in the definition of fair use, a backdoor to censorship. I certainly don't favor fastracking the treaty as it goes through Congress and would encourage others to contact our Congressman Tom Graves and urge

I happened on the story of Navinder Singh Sarao, a mid-30's un-married Sihk man living with his parents in London. Sarao must be the most conservative person in the world. I say that because of his apparent love for making money. First, this guy is cheap ... I don't mean frugal; I mean cheap. I mean he took late lunches so he could bargain a discount on the leftover sandwiches the folks at the lunch counter had left after the rush. Rush hour rates for the tube in London are more expensive than post-rush-hour rates. He opted to arrive at his trading desk late to save the money.

I actually do think that people, particularly black people, would benefit from this bit of wisdom from our own TP. Don't talk to police. I was thinking the best way to react in this kind of situation where you're bursting to say what a creep this or that person is or even when you are stopped ... and being asked questions ... particularly when you are perturbed and don't or shouldn't say anything. You can Humm ... Yep, you can hum tunes like 'we will overcome' or even hum things like kiss my butt or the FU or whatever but if your lips or sealed, there is no way your lack of words can

Aw heck, Zorro ... I wouldn't expect you to have sympathy for anyone, much less an inmate. Still, I was over joyed to see your eager embrace of inmate labor. Just as we progressed by rolling right from a typical prison population of just about 400,000 in the mid 70s to over 2.4 million active inmates now, the application of policies like longer prison terms, like you propose for most activities, following your vision into the future, we might have a prison population of 24 million inmates; all of whom could work for .23 cent an hour. And that is the vision I see you pursuing because

Aw heck Zorro ... I had a thought. Is your agenda was to make laws that put all the regular people in jail - you know those long harsh sentences you like - so that businesses could avoid the minimum wage altogether. I really didn't grasp it until you were so insistent that the only way to solve the undocumented worker issue was to throw the businessmen in jail who violate the law. Folks don't realize it but by their paying for long prison terms they are creating a labor source for corporate America that can hire these workers who have been deprived of their freedom as defacto slaves.

And when Tom Hanks gets a movie contract that includes profit sharing does his 'agent' not get 10% (assuming the agent's customary share of their clients contracts although some talent may be able to negotiate a lower rate which is allowable under SAG - aka: union- rules.) First, I didn't say that... because 'one size doesn't fit all' and second, the image you wish to conjure presumes some sort of monolithic union that dictates contracts across hundreds of industries whereas it is more than conceivable that you could have as many small unions as there are companies. The other key

Oh but I did. I offered the idea of allowing unions to police the employers by demanding closed shops. Since employers typically choose to hire the undocumented because they work for less, there is no advantage to hiring them if they are not allowed to join the union. While this is totally convoluted and inane, I think the point is that TP is saying that even if you let unions accept the undocumented into their membership - i.e. unionize them - this would solve the problem of illegals working in the US because the businesses would simply export the jobs elsewhere in a continued effor

I have no doubt that the hiring of cheap undocumented workers does not respect party lines. Heck, even Mitt had a crew of illegals keeping up one of his houses (he claimed he was not responsible.) The idea of saving money on labor is not a new motivation but raising fines and penalties through the criminal justice system is not the only way to social engineer the issue. We put so much on the criminal justice system already and frankly, it is probably the least effective way to accomplish policy goals like this ... unless you just like paying lawyers $800/hr. Unions can be employed by

Did you not see the cock-eyed looking guy who wandered around HJIA (the public parts) with an AR-15 and 100 round magazine? Without the check point, he and a dozen buddies could walk up to the third floor where the tax money is and simply click off the safety and walk out with the loot. The issue is the stupid 'carry everywhere law' that says that it is legal to walk anywhere you want in public buildings armed to the teeth ... to the point of a formal check point ... like this guy did at HJIA. He says, "It is my right" ... meaning that he could care less if his cockeyed appea -
It is currently illegal and has been for as long as I can remember ... which is a pretty long time. Are you saying that business owners - the job creators - have to face massive jail time and enormous fines before they'll comply with the law? ... wait, that is exactly what you're saying - that the business owners of America - over 90 percent of the businesses and corporate equities are held by people in the top ten percent of incomes who coincidentally are the same folks that you want to cut taxes for as well. Oh yeah, and because you've already cut taxes, one reason the law isn'

Actually, this is a good idea. Why? Well it gives regular citizens a real reason to video encounters with police. This encouragement could result in a lot of folks taking the time to video officers doing their jobs saving the police and, for that matter, the taxpayer the cost of having to equip officers with body cams. It also means that the officers would not control the video and it would be subject to being uploaded or broadcast independent of police scrutiny meaning 'news-based' videos are timely... I think it would also quickly 'educate the officers' that they are not to i

The Koch Brothers (and other wealthy individuals) love the idea of bankrolling judges into office as a way to win cases. I hate it that you are falling for the ruse, DVBP ... and Rose. There are better ways to assure that judges adhere to the principals of justice than elections or term limits. An expansion of the role and resources available to a body like the JQC with enhanced reporting of decisions and public tools including definitions of proper ethical conduct that allows challenging the qualifications for those on such ethical grounds who sit in judgment would be the way to

That is what sports agents do to smooth over disputes in the locker room or the green room ... Denying regular folks that kind of third party support because of an ideological belief that ownership of a business gives the personality unassailable rights to fire is silly and self-defeating in many, many instances. I'll not say that unions are perfect as I'm sure that actors have disputes with their agents as well ... perfection eludes us all ... but it is not something that should be thrown out on some misplaced principals regarding the sanctity of property rights. pubby
