It is just the typical kind of slam that some take at TP ... Not impressed. pubby

I know, it is not an analogy ... it is the exact same thing. Agents negotiating the employment of their clients. The only practical difference is that one does it individually and the other does it collectively ... pubby

I get emails from a variety of news delivery sources and I got an inquiry from a fellow with News21. If you feel you might have information of interest to a journalist doing a national story on this topic for this effort PM me (pubby). The reporter is actually based in Arizona and is using the Public Insight Network to find people willing to share their insight. pubby

Typical right wing rant. You don't want people to have agents who negotiate for them based on their class. You accept representation for those who are sports stars, actors, CEOs and the like, but you seek to deny regular folks the benefit of having an agent. The relative success of those in those professions that demand agents (athletes, actors and authors, for instance) vs. people with more common skills make the assertion that 'unions' are 'obsolete' seem hollow. You also suffer from the misconception that all you need is legislation to gain compliance. The truth is that folks gam

That is absurd ... what you see and object to (minor civil penalties for employing undocumented workers) would be an absolute bonanza if the employer overturned a union election because 'of the 300 employees, 200 are ineligible to vote. I can just hear the boss laughing as he sez : "Iz gots 300 workers, 200 is illegals and since you gots to have 151 to form a union, we can't have no union here cause there are enough legal employees to has one. Put one over on them union folks, I did, I did!!!) Of course z ...you being one of those fair and balanced folks, you stand by your position a

I'm Gonna Go Ahead And Admit That I Am, "STUPID."

... more than I want to spend for a small push more, for sure. Now the deal on the zero turn rider sounds intriguing. Heck, you might even be able to resell it. Hummm... If I knocked down $150 on such a re-selling deal, would my margin be more or less than 15%? pubby -
CPTLO: I'm thinking that Peaches got something of yours and is somehow pulling your chain. BTW, the last time I looked, there were such things as "international unions" ... and they may even allow training across national borders. However, most unions, especially those like plumbers and electrical unions, tend to be great supporters of the laws including those that would bar individuals without proper documentation from being employed. pubby

Reminds me of the old joke about a small kid and his grandfather. The kid observes the family dog licking himself and the kid ask grand dad, why does he lick himself? The grandfather replies "because he can." This also explains LEO and their fascination with high tech toys. pubby Oh, let me add this ... the video:

I'm closing this topic but allowing it remain visible. I looked the background materials and it is obvious that this is a personal attack on the judge ... I also note it is not the first. I will say that the areas you cite as presumably impeaching the judgment of Judge Beavers are not as clear an indictment of his judgment as you pretend. For instance, in the dismissal of the motion by the judge, he references two previous motions and does note they were proffered 'pro se' ... and denies the motion on the basis that the protective order moved against expired making the whole matter

The figures you cited ranged from just over $500,000/yr for the SAG-AFTRA (actors talent) union presidents to more modest $220-380,000 for other union presidents. Considering that the average union wage is probably $60-70,000 for the 'average' union worker these figures are maybe 5 or 10 times the 'average' wage of the membership. This compares to corporate executives who incomes are not $500,000 but sometimes 50,000,000 or more - on average the wage being as much as 370 times ... a $50,000 wage ($50,000 x 370= $18,500,000) Both are executives and in the old days, when CEO's earned

Courthouse Security Screening - Had to get this off my chest.
gpatt0n replied to BubbaDoo's topic in RECENT TOPICS
As Whitey said, this is not the Sheriff that is responsible. If anything is responsible it is the crazies that codified the gun laws as carry (virtually) anywhere meaning that a group of criminals (without the security check point) could legally march up to the tax and tag office and pull the guns they have the right to carry and rob the joint. The law is written in such a way that you can keep guns from the admin building only if you check for them Correct. The different protocols - you can go in the courthouse without removing your belt for instance - is based on the separatio -
There are a lot of things that happen that don't seem to conform with normal, everyday common sense when, in reality, they aren't that far fetched and may provide a way to get from point A to point B. The LA city council, in passing their minimum wage law, rejected business interests that were proposing that programs like health benefits, pensions, on-site child care or even educational benefits (tuition or student load payoffs) might be packaged in such a way as to count 'toward' meeting the minimum wage law. Seeing the wide variety of 'asks' and how all that would filter into the dea

Former House speaker indicted for lying to the FBI
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I read where the bond for this 'crime' was $4,500. There are voices - even voiced from the left - that scratch their head in regard to this prosecution - suggesting that folks actually question what the crime is? (Technically, the indictment is for intentionally withdrawing $9,975 instead of $10,000 of your money so that the federal prosecutors aren't tipped to each cash withdrawal and for lying about why, when he was withdrawing larger amounts, he was doing so and the withdrawals were reported.) The first obvious fact is that Denny Hastert was speaker of the house when these rules r -

Former House speaker indicted for lying to the FBI
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I was reluctant to say it when the news first broke but I got to say my gut was right ... leading folks to recall former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards comment about his popular electability ... Yes, it was Edwards who used to brag that "The only way I'd lose is if they catch me in bed with a live boy or a dead girl." Of course this is in response to a LA Times story this morning that the $3.5 million Hastert was paying in hush money was to a former athlete that he coached before he entered public life. This link is to the NYTimes story. pubby -

I talked with Melissa earlier today. She says he is holding his own but not really improving, which is a disappointment. Adding to that disappointment is I think when she took him to the hospital, she though he'd be back home by now. pubby

Published on May 29, 2015 The deal seems to be 'security' and some seem to think that it is superfluous and insulting and others cite the apparent wishing for grey matter being splashed on the walls. America's self-image is of a violent nation even as statistics show dramatic declines from two decades ago. It all seems to be spin and our feckless duo/nay trio find their conversation mired in the muck. Sorry You won't want to miss the bit at 13:10 which is a dramatic reading of a facebook post by an anonymous poster from the recall David Austin page. Click for

Got this from Mike Dreiblatt's blog "standuptobullying.net: I present this because of the pervasive idea that the world is going to hell in a handbasket ... when any one looking around at comparative data would have to come to the entirely opposite conclusion. But hey, the nattering nabobs of negativity have sway in the conservative leaning media that most consume and take special pleasure at ridiculing those who have the audacity of not only hope but the understanding that progress is happening. pubby
