I just visited with Melissa at the hospital. I had hoped to find Thad a bit more chipper but as I was on my way, Melissa texted me that he had yet another turn for the worse. Actually, I think the real outcome here will be hiring of people ... It has been cheaper to order the lower level manager to work 60, 70 hours a week (at no increase in pay/cost) than to hire hourly wage workers, particularly in retail establishments.
