  1. I live in a subdivision on Sweetwater Church Road (Faraday Woods). We live in the back of the subdivision and I didn't hear anything. No sirens, nothing. Is the situation involving the Douglas County deputy or is this unrelated?
  2. A guy I work with asked me if I knew about the "shoot out" in Paulding last night. I said no and he said that somebody shot up the house where a Douglas county deputy lives. Nobody was home and nobody was hurt. He (the officer) lives in Paulding county. I can't find it in the AJC anywhere. He is the only person I've heard it from.
  3. I'm still remembering from the last time this happened and I refuse to use a station that is at the end of our street. I will push my car to another station before I give them my money again.
  4. Girl on a Train is very good. If you liked Gone Girl and Dark Places, you might like her book Sharp Objects.
  5. I'm so sorry to hear you lost your brother. Siblings are the best friends you have and I can't imagine losing any one of mine. Peace.
  6. I had my first one three years ago. I was dreading the prep because of all the stories I had heard about having to drink a gallon of gross mix. But they gave me two bottles of grape solution that I had to mix with one bottle of water (one bottle of juice to one bottle of water each time). It tasted like salty grape drink. I drank it down quickly through a straw and I barely tasted any of it. It wasn't that bad. After that I had to drink 4 bottles of water in 2 hours. the next grape solution was taken about 3 hours after the first,. Same thing. mix with bottle of water followed by 4 bott
  7. I agree with you regarding Cobb vs Kennestone. I was told when I first moved to GA that you only go to Cobb General if you want to die. I have used Kennestone over and over again and I like it there. I have used Paulding Wellstar once for an emergency and had no problems.
  8. we had a crab apple die on us last year. It started losing bark and then grew all kinds of fungus-looking stuff all over it. It finally came down during a wind storm this past February.
  9. I have had it and it is actually pretty good. And, it really does taste like the dark meat of chicken.
  10. We have to do the same thing because we hardly ever use our phones.
  11. I don't use a cell phone. I have a Go Phone that stays turned off in my purse. I keep it in case my car breaks down or I have a flat tire. Then I call AAA and turn it off again until the next time.
  12. My son bought a truck from Auto House in downtown Hiram. The price was great, the truck was clean inside and out and we got a free CarFax with it. They even let us take the truck to a mechanic to have it looked over before we bought it. We would buy from them again. He paid $6,000 cash for it. It's a GMC Sonoma but I'm not sure what year. It was older (I think it's a 2000) but he bought it in 2011 and he is still driving it with absolutely no problems.
  13. I LOVE PRINCE. THAT MAKES ME SO SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I was going to argue that Inman Yard is not a truck/train transfer station but parts of it are. The area my company operates for Norfolk Southern (at Gate ) only fabricates rail. But I'm pretty sure the other NS and CSX gates are transfer stations and they are considered Inman Yard. So I will close my big mouth now. I have no idea why a bubble blowing face is where I tried to type the number eight.
  15. That could be. A fire truck passed me and then came right back again in the opposite direction as if he was lost. Hard telling.
  16. I drove past at about 6:00 and I saw a truck hauling tree trunks and pulling a small bobcat that had almost slid down the embankment while turning right at the gas station. The cops were there directing traffic and they were trying to get the back wheels out of the ditch. There was no smoke and I did not see another vehicle in the area that was involved.
  17. We have U-verse and have had no problems with it. We have internet, cable and land line. All three together (including every premium channel you can get) is about half the cost we had when we had just cable with Comcast.
  18. When my mom was in hospice 12 years ago, they gave my family all kinds of booklets to read. One of them was almost a step-by-step of what to expect in their final weeks/day. Right down to her picking at her blanket as if she was picking lint off of it. (that was weird). It helped a lot and any questions we had, day or night, hospice was there to answer. They were a great comfort to us and a lot of help.
  19. Christmas Eve is shrimp scampi and oyster stew. Tiramisu for dessert.(never made it before). Christmas day is prime rib (never made it before), hasselback potato and green beans. Peppermint snow pie for dessert. Except for the green beans, the menu is new to our house and I've never made any of it until now. It could be very interesting tomorrow.... I forgot to add that Christmas morning is Cracker Barrel hashbrown casserole, French toast bake and homemade hot cocoa (in the crockpot).
  20. We had a few kids. I would like to murder the little bastard who blew up my mailbox. If you live around Sweetwater Church Road and heard a very very loud explosion around 11:30 or so, it was my mailbox. I thought it was a transformer or someone's house exploded. It woke me up and I waited to hear sirens but I fell asleep. We found our mail box in pieces Sunday morning. We know who did it and he either has a new box on our post by the time I get home from work tonight, or I will have a police report filled out. I do believe messing with mailboxes is a felony. Dude is old enough to know b
  21. Gosh. This post surprised me. I always thought you were nice.
  22. so shoot me. HER church required it. For baptism or whatever you call it. We get confirmed at that age.
  23. We light ours on Halloween right before we expect the kids at our door.
