  1. Yep! And some pecan pieces. That's my favorite banana bread/cake!!!!
  2. Yes, they certainly are handy when you need them. That's why I keep a GoPhone in my purse turned off. When I need it I turn it on. I don't walk around talking to friends constantly (don't have any friends, can you guess why?). WTH did people do with their time before they spent all of it on a cell phone? I was at Toyota getting my car serviced and there was a woman there with a cell phone up to her ear. Every once in a while, she would mumble something in to the phone, then she would go back to sleep for a while! WTF??!!!! Sorry, cell phones are my pet peave!
  3. I HATE cell phones!! I get a strong urge to bust somebody in the head when I see them walking around with those ridiculous head-sets on their ears! Pisses me off for some reason! I especially hate drivers with cell phones up to thier ears and people who insist on doing their grocery shopping while on the phone, telling somebody "OK they have three types of macaroni and cheese - which one do you want"! UUGGHHHHH!!!

    Give Blood.

Every time I have tried to give blood, they've told me that I am too anemic and that I need to see a doctor ASAP. When I go to the doctor, I am usually not anemic (or at least not so horribly low). Don't know why. Maybe they need to give ME some blood!!!!!
  5. My husband and son got very sick from swimming in a large public pool about 7 years ago. ER doctor said it was from getting contaminated water in their mouth when swimming. Now, we don't hesitate to turn in any parent whose kid is not in swimmie diapers. Gross. Makes me want to slap the crap out of the parent. But, why would it bother them when they are probably peeing in the pool, too?
  6. My son just got his learner's permit in June and wants to ride the brake, especially down hill. We are working on it, though!!
  7. My mom died of Ovarian Cancer six years ago this coming September. When she was nearing the end, we noticed that she would get real hateful with us sometimes. Hospice (which was the best thing we could have done for her and our family by the way) told us that she was probably not getting enough pain meds and the pain was manifesting itself into her being mean. My mom was so afraid that the pain meds would knock her out too much and then she wouldn't be able to know when us kids and my dad were there and she wouldn't be able to talk to us. So we upped the pain meds slightly - just enough to
  8. That's a good sign!! It means your pregnancy hormones are at the level they should be!!!!! Yeah!!

    crafts

I used to do stained glass - loved it!! But I shattered the bones in my left wrist and had to have a plate and some pins put in and now I can't seem to get my cuts right or hold the glass correctly for the cut. I guess I need to go back to sewing - less stress on the wrist!
  10. Ouch! Thanks for the info. Looks like we've been screwed again.
  11. We replaced both of our outside units last year and we did not buy the kind that uses the new refrigerant. They still make the old kind and will for a while because a lot of people still have units that use it (that's what the Sears guy told us anyway).
  12. I made the comment that I like it in South Paulding and I am not a stay at home mom. I work in downtown Atlanta - on Bankhead Hwy. (D.L. Hollowell Pkwy) a few blocks away from Lowery Blvd. (used to be Ashby Street). I am so used to my drive that it doesn't bother me most of the time. It's my time to get mentally ready for the day, listen to some CD's or just think about stuff. I drive about 24 miles one way every day and it takes me about 45 mintues in the summer when traffic is light. I don't use the interstate - I go 278 to Bankhead. I used to drive from Whitlock Ave. in Marietta in to
  13. We have lived in this area for over 16 years. We live off of Sweetwater Church road in Faraday Woods subdivision. We love it. We used to live on Brownsville Road and got tired of picking up broken beer and whiskey bottles and bags full of fast food trash off of our driveway every Saturday and Sunday morning! That's what you get when your quiet country road turns in to a main road a few years after you build a house on it!! But we really like our subdivision we moved in to about 6 years ago. Our schools are HIram High School, Austin Middle and the new Hal Hutchins elementary and we have b

    Smoking

I have never smoked a cigarette in my life. Probably because I was raised in a house with two smoking parents. I am from a family of six kids and none of us kids smoke. I just never wanted to do it. All of my friends smoked when I was in high school and as a young adult but I just never picked it up. I don't like the smell but I don't have a fit when somebody near me lights up, either. I just think it's every person's choice. Nobody makes a big deal about my over-eating, which is a bad, unhealthy habit, too. That's my vice. So I don't say anything about it when people smoke. If it ge
  15. That is one of the first meals I ever made for my husband after we got married! He raved about what a good cook I was! HA! It is really good and easy to make.

    OMG!

You are lucky you didn't have to appear before the jerk judge I had to see! I expected a small court cost and fine of about $150 to $200 -- Good thing I had just gone to the bank to get money for our Disney trip before I went to the courthouse or else I would have been screwed! Instead, our trip was screwed because I spent a good bit of our "spending money" on that stupid ticket and fees. I now only change CD's at red lights and NOT as I go down the road.
  17. Here is a favorite from my sister: Elizabeth’s Hot Chicken 8 cups cooked chicken....(I buy the Walmart frozen and precooked grilled chicken and defrost and cube it) 1 medium chopped onion...(again the frozen kind for me) 1 cup chopped celery 2 cups mayo .......(I used the Kraft olive oil mayo) 1 cup cubed Velveeta.... I also sometimes add crushed saltines if it is too thin near the end of the cooking time or broth if it is too thick. Cook in crockpot on high 2 hours or on low for longer....I think it was 4 hours last time I made it on low. It is hard to make this for

    OMG!

I was involved in an accident in the City of Atlanta about 5 years ago - I rear-ended somebody (OK - I may or may not have been swapping out CD's at the time). Anyway, since it was an accident, I had to go to court. The judge fined me almost $500 plus court costs! I was floored. When I went to pay the fine, there was a lady in front of me who had gone to argue a speeding ticket. She lost and was fined over $500. She told them that they would just have to put her in jail because she didn't have the money. They told her she could set up a payment schedule. Maybe they could do the same fo
  19. I had to refurbish mine after my husband put it in the dishwasher! I scrubbed it with an SOS pad and then seasoned it again as if it were new (in the oven with Crisco). It turned out fine.
  20. Chocolate, bananas, peanuts (but not peanut butter), artificual sweeteners, not enough coffee in the AM.
  21. My favorite is a brand called Kitchen Cooked. I can't find them down here - only in Illinois. They are sliced thicker than a regular chip and are kind of a hard, crunchy chip and it stands up to anything you can dip it in to! They are probably fried in lard or something and that's why they are so good. If anyone has ever seen them down here, please let me know where you saw them. The bag is white with red letters with a drawing of a kettle with steam or something coming out of it. Sun Chips are good, too - the regular ones.
  22. I loved him when he was still a black man waaayyy back in 1983 when I was 20 ! Billy Jean was my favorite song back then and the first time I saw him do that moonwalk, I was amazed! He was very talented. It's sad that his life turned out to be such a freak show. SoapMom - I also believe in praying for the the dead and I will say one for him and his family.
  23. BTW - you can go to the county property tax site and get a list of everyone who lives on your street or any street you type in to the search box. It shows the names of anyone who is on the records as owning the property, I guess. That is probably how they know the neighbor's names when they come to your door. We always send them to our neighbor across the street, telling them that they LOVE to buy stuff like whatever they are selling!!!!
  24. A young girl came to our house years ago (like 14 years ago) and said she was a student selling books for the summer. She was wearing a badge of some kind showing where she worked, etc. They were expensive but the books were neat and I bought some reference books and some other types of books from her. I had to pay a deposit and then the balance when the books were delivered the next week. I made sure I had all of her info before she left. We still use the reference books sometimes (one was about the different systems like bones, muscles, nerves) and my son (16 yo) has used them for biolo
