I nominate Sunnyland Self Storage for offering a free rental storage unit for a local flood victim.

Just want to take advantage of this opportunity to COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU! It seems like gaming the system is the national pastime.

The message says school is closed *for students*.

If I'm not mistaken, it said schools would be closed *for students* on Thursday, Sept. 24.

I've been using the word "snarky" (and variations - to snark, etc.) on this board for almost two years... why has it only caught fire this week?

Well put. I also wonder why there is a whole week off for Thanksgiving... I remember going to classes on that Wednesday my whole life. Seems like we could make up a day or two on that Monday or Tuesday and be back on schedule by Christmas. JMT <------ also ready to get back to the normal schedule... when safe... -
The JMT family and some friends enjoyed lunch today at Rodney's in New Hope -- and they had fresh sweet tea! It was delicious as always, and a welcome trip out of the house. Thanks, y'all!

I'm so sorry to hear this... Prayers...

If they're going to have to close it for the week, I wish they could let us know today. It would affect weekend plans... -
If they are going to call school for the whole week, I wish there was some way we could know today.

I'm sitting at lunch with a teacher... She just got her call saying no school Wednesday. Sigh... Wonder if the kids are going to be put a whole week behind due to this... My daughter was hoping to go back tomorrow. -
If my tumtum needs beating, I'll do it without your help, thank you.

Holy smoke signals... that squaw hot as many fires...

Is that a county-wide advisory?

Just got home from a couple of errands. Ivey Gulledge is passable and open from Old Cartersville to the stop sign. Don't know about the other side (to Frey Road). Dallas-Acworth Hwy was closed to southbound traffic starting at Cedarcrest road. I'm not going out again today.

Cedarcrest north of Bentwater subdivision - flooded. Just had to turn around. Y'all be careful!

Fine -- I'll note that I tried to exclude politics from the discussion at the very beginning. Considering that Prager is Jewish, I was just sort of taken aback by the Nazi reference that followed. No insults intended or required... I'm just trying to follow the connection you are making. I have no doubt that some people thought what they were doing in Goebbels' era was "good." Certainly many other people knew that the "good" speechmaking was only a facade for the truth of what was actually intended and what was actually happening. Prager's assertion is that people are not born good.
-
Are you suggesting that Prager's point is equivalent to Goebbels' philosophy... that is, a Nazi point of view? Because I'm not seeing that.
-
I don't see that anywhere in the discussion -- I don't follow your question.
-
Twerp, I think your answer falls in line with Prager's conclusion. To judge by merit means to hold the individual accountable, which implies that choices and behavior are taking place. I do think some people are born with predispositions to behaviors... but it is the behavior that has to be judged, not the proclivity. I think the idea that nobody is born "good" is true. I like Prager's distinction between being born "good" and being born "innocent." Babies are selfish... by necessity, yes, but surely it cannot be denied that their only concern is their own most immediate need.
