I've tried to invite the far left folks to coffee, etc. I offered to take some out to lunch, my treat. They never take me up on it. I understand - it's too risky. First, they would realize I'm a real person and not just a set of ascii characters. Next... what if they found something they actually liked about me as a person? That would totally put a hitch in the vitriol production. "He's not really some ogre-like extremist? Neither racist, nor homophobic, nor a neo-Nazi? And there are witnesses of me interacting with him and... gasp... having fun? And he did something nice... fo

We bought our kids a Lite Brite a couple of years ago. They did it briefly but they just didn't get how cool it was. I think we consigned it this year. Sigh.

We also had that Evel Knievel set!

I had this, including the rocket/repair station: Also had the Oscar Goldman action figure.

I'm so broke that if time really is money, I died six weeks ago.

I think this is a reasonable question and I'd like to see a reasonable answer. I appreciate the personal connections, but I'd like to see something more broadly applicable. I've met GR, wish him the best, and hope he's doing well. I have no wish for him to resign and I'm not coming down on him at all. I'm just curious -- what would he point to as his top 3 achievements in Paulding County? It's a fair question. Maybe one best answered in another thread, though.

Wish I could have stayed longer.

I didn't want my father-in-law's "property." I wanted his blessing. That is a whole different mindset than you are attributing to the exchange.

Picture it... the Thursday before Easter 1994. I got up early and drove from NE Atlanta to Memphis. I went to my father-in-law's office and caught him by surprise as he was leaving for lunch. We went to lunch and I told him my plan to surprise Mrs. JMT with a proposal, showed him the ring, and asked his approval. He helped me finesse my secret plan, then I left to drive to Starkville, MS to pop the question. I arranged with her roommate to take her out to dinner at the place where we ate on our first date. After their order was taken, I strolled out to the table, showed her the ring, got

At the request of some and at the urging of others, I have separated out my business postings from my personal comments. This should help me keep those interested in my performances informed while sparing some folks who may prefer to ignore some of my other comments. That's okay - I aim to please. I just didn't want there to be any confusion. Thanks!

The dude narrating is boring, but the story of that little riff is kind of neat!

This fun video gives the background on a drum beat that you'll recognize from a lot of places. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SaFTm2bcac (NOTE: Beware some rough language in some of the samples.)

If I was on tv this morning, it's a surprise to me! I'll be on tonight, though -- 11pm. -
Atlanta Magician Joe M. Turner to appear on CBS 46 next week

It's not just possible - it's typical. Most of my performances are targeted more for adults than for kids. -
Atlanta Magician Joe M. Turner to appear on CBS 46 next week
joemturner replied to joemturner's topic in Business NEWS
It's unlikely. I was there for over an hour with my interview and performances, but they were also going to interview a police officer or detective or someone after me. It's all a tie-in to that Mentalist show - what's fact, what's fiction, etc. I can't imagine the whole report would be more than 2 or 3 minutes tops... and that would have to include everything. I just hope the pieces that they chop up and put together work out and that I don't look as bad as I thought I did given the way things were physically arranged. Sigh. -
Atlanta Magician Joe M. Turner to appear on CBS 46 next week
joemturner replied to joemturner's topic in Business NEWS
I did the interview on Monday - wasn't really happy with the set-up but we'll see tonight how it turned out. The point of the interview was to explore the use of perception, body language, and various subconscious signals to see if I could pick up indications of what people might be thinking of. We also bent a borrowed quarter on camera using the "power of the mind." Some thoughts I was able to hit directly, some I was just close. I don't think I had any that I totally missed. One experiment where I was close -- I asked two women to imagine they were holding a random object (chose -

If I had known you were going to ask, I would have used the subjunctive mood sooner. Was this brought on by the title of one particular topic? -
I am in Starkville, Mississippi tonight and will be dining shortly at my favorite bbq place on earth, The Li'l Dooey.

Mrs. JMT says to tell y'all thanks for all the kind comments. She is really happy to hear how much you liked it. This is made with Georgia apples from Ellijay -- not the Washington and Michigan apples you get at the grocery stores. We have already got orders for about a third of the second batch... so if you want to order some (or order seconds!) let me know asap. Half-pint jars are $4. We talked about other sizes but decided this way all the canning supplies stay the same size... so she's going to stay with the half-pint jars. Thanks for all your support - she's tickled that

Just wanted to brag on both Dallas Chiropractic and the Dallas Theater & Civic Center for a moment. Dr. Moyher and her staff from Dallas Chiropractic threw a wonderful patient appreciation banquet in the Civic Center this afternoon. It was my first time to perform at an event in that part of the facility and it worked out great. Everybody had a great time -- and I need to find out who your caterer was! While I personally appreciated your having me out to perform, I was most impressed with the overall event and how far you went to give your patients such a nice afternoon... I have
