  1. THANKS. We have gone to Carrollton for the last 4-5 years. Some times there is a wait and other times it is in and out in 15 mins, pretty much hit or miss, We can't find DH's BC so we'll be making a trip over the state line to get his tomorrow or Friday bc his b'day is Friday and license expire. DS needs to get his temporary replaced but he can't find his SS card so he'll have to make a trip to Marietta SS office before he returns to RCI on the 27th so he can get a new DL.
  2. Is a Social Security card required to renew DL in Georgia? I have googled and have read that you do and read that you didn't. It was consistent that an current passport or original/certified BC is required along with two items that prove residency that show name and address.
  3. Seems there used to be a time where NO bond was given on all murder charges. And, I agree with another poster that we need to be paying attention to not only what the Judges in Paulding County are doing but also ALL elected officials. If they are or are not protecting US!!
  4. If you have ever been to my home you probably noticed my sweet Snickers in my red recliner beside me. Snickers was a chocolate/tan dachshund and 15 years old. Anyone who remotely knows me KNOWS I am passionate about animals and especially dachshunds. Snickers began having difficultly walking on his hind legs a couple of weeks ago and his health began to decline. He was not doing well and the last couple of days had gotten a lot worse. We made the difficult decision to do what needed to be done for HIM and made arrangements to put him to sleep last night. DS was in Atlanta and DD was at work in
  5. Where is Vittles?? Good breakfast is hard to find.
  6. You are getting the BEST advice: Get checked out. Hopefully you will get a clear report but doing nothing could be very costly. IF you need an attorney let me know and I will refer you to the BEST in Metro Atlanta that insurance companies do not want to go to court with. You want to stay away from Mr. "one call, that's all" and all other TV attorneys. IMHO.
  7. FYI: It does NOT happen that way. Only in Lifetime Movies. Goes back to the law the child MUST be "in immediate and imminent danger" to require immediate removal. And even than a Judge must grant a verbal order to do so and no water, no electricity and no gas would not necessarily meet those requirements.
  8. It is possible if the parent doesn't allow entry to call the Judge and get a verbal order to enter. That is when a deputy or detective is with the worker. And, you are absolutely correct: If a parent is complying with the case plan and doing what they should be they WOULD want the worker in their home to verify they were. The sooner the case plan is completed (minimum 6 mos) and the parent has complied the sooner DFCS is out of their lives.
  9. Obviously your personnel opinion and my personnil opinion differ. "OVERPAID"? I don't know where you got your information but that is one allegation I have NEVER been accused of!!! At the time I had a bachelor's degree (guess that falls under the "know nothings") and 17 years experience (nope, didn't learn anything in the field all that time either) WSB-TV did a segment on Social Workers in the State of Georgia. A man picking up garbage in Atlanta made MORE in a year than I did. Throw in the STRESS associated with making decisions that affect a child's life on a daily basis. (maybe I missed so
  10. I am glad you are not going to say I am wrong because I am not. Maybe it was no one refused to let the deputy or myself in but I did go in many 100;s of homes without a court order or search warrant at that point. And, yes we had access to the children and did interview them at school and usually prior to even contacting the parents or making a home visit. But, one doesn't have anything to do with the other: interviewing the child and visiting the home.
  11. With 18 years as a child abuse/neglect investigator in 2 states I can count on one hand the number of times I called a parent to let them know I was doing a home visit/welfare check. They were ALL unannounced. And, I WAS allowed to go in the home without the parent's permission as long as a sheriff's deputy or detective was with me. It is not as easy as one thinks to remove children from the home. By law a child "MUST be in immediate and imminent danger" to be removed from the home. With an open case the parents agree to a case plan and as long as they are complying with the demands of t
  12. I spend a LOT of time each day on FB. I have reconnected with friends from HS and College, some of which I had not talked to in over 40 years. I love catching up on their lives, families, etc. When Wade was in Russia, Sweden, Denmark, etc, etc I was able to chat with him daily via FB and it made the months he was gone a lot more bearable. I do not twitter, instagram, Pintrest but I would be lost without FB to be honest. I have gotten some really good recipes, play a game and enjoy reading everyone's posts and status'.
  13. A good friend had the band about 4 years ago and lost approx 40 lbs. She wanted to lose more but couldn't. She had difficulty when she would eat with the food not processing. She would sit at the dinner table and have to spit it out in a napkin. Her daughter had gastic bypass when she was 20 approximately 10 years ago. She lost 90 lbs and has maintained it even with having a baby 2 years ago. I also know a person who died from complications with having a gastric bypass. Good Luck.
  14. It sure was good last Wednesday but of course it ALWAYS is. We had never tried the Ranch Chicken before. YUMMMMMMM
  15. A friend called to let me know about it and they were being re-routed. WSB-TV just ran a report and aid it will take an hour or more to clear up.
  16. Since this was yesterday; thread: Chuck roast cooked in the crock pot all day with mushroom soup and onions Mashed potatoes Fried yellow corn Field peas rolls Tonight: Homemade pizza Toppings: ground beef browned with onions, pepperoni, mushrooms and TONS of mozzarella cheese Salad
  17. We recently changed our insurance and Curtis was able to save us money for more coverage. Our truck coverage DOUBLED and we added $25K renters coverage for the same amount we were paying our previous insurance company. An additional plus is Curtis is always available to help and answer questions. As someone else said a super nice guy, too.
  18. Born, bred and raised in Cleburne County, AL, just across the state line will always be "home". Well familiar with the history of Patrick Cleburne. Every time I pass the street sign of "Cleburne Parkway" or "Cleburne Ave" at Whitlock in Marietta I get a warm feeling of home.
  19. :::clappingclapping::: That would be WONDERFUL!!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM DH just said a couple of days ago he wished KK would come to town. We go by the one in Marietta every time we are in the area.
  20. You can name them in the thread, just not in the title of the thread. I assume you are referring to Steak & Shake having a 69? We often go there when we pick up the GRANDdaughters after school for Happy Hour. I always check their health score and it is in the 90's. Where had a 44?
  21. LOVED Baby Doe's and often wish it was still open. Great food, service AND atmosphere.
  22. HaHaHaHa Now does anyone know what is actually happening in front of the old K-Mart????
  23. But for someone without a job part time is better than nothing. PLUS, it gets one in the door with a good, stable company with good benefits.
  24. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Eeeeeekkkkkk. I can only imagine how excited she (and you) must be. And the fact it is a Miracle Baby makes it even more special and exciting. Praying all goes well for an easy and problem free pregnancy. One can never have too many GRANDchildren. They call them GRAND for a reason!!!
  25. Did Audrey post the weekly menu this week? I can't find it if she did. We are meeting friends from Acworth there for lunch.
