  1. Of course there are needs to protect abused children, HOWEVER..... Let's say there is a criminal investigation of a group of kids at the school - you are OK with LE interrogating your child with no advocate, no lawyer, and no permission from you? If you place of employment is being investigated, do you want them questioning your child about your work habits without your knowledge? Like someone else pointed out, the way this is worded is simply far too broad and can lead to far too many circumstances that are way over the line of privacy rights and the legal rights of the child.
  2. I've seen the village, and I don't want it anywhere near my kids. LOL
  3. Freedom of Speech does not mean you are protected from fallout from the stupid hateful things you say.
  4. Recently we saw several groups of counter-protesters who placed themselves between Westboro and the funeral - thereby blocking the view of the demonstrators by family and mourners. I think that we will (and should) see more of this, but I am questioning what Westboro will then do to make themselves heard and seen again. Perhaps they will do something stupid and give the counts a leg to stand on to ban them forever.
  5. Yikes. Now we have to teach our kids how to lawyer up before we send them off to Pre-K......I'll be adding this to the reasons I homeschool.
  6. I miss Mexican food. I have had to resort to making my own, which is not bad, but does not compare to eating at a good restaurant and having someone bring you a plate filled with yummy, steaming hot food.
  7. Boston Bibb salad, fresh baked black forest bread with butter, shrimp sauteed in sesame oil over organic soba noodles all tossed in a sweet and sour sauce - and an ice cold hard pear cider. Yum.
  8. I am the same, i don't know how people here see me, so I have no idea what they would never guess about me.
  9. Good Morning! I hope nobody's house got dropped on any witches last night! LOL It's my little guys big 6th birthday today - headed out for hibachi here soon. Y'all make it a good one!
  10. That is.......stomach turning.
  11. Yes, there are many other ways, but they don't always work for every child. NO child starts out ceasing poor behavior because they now understand it is wrong. The young ones simply don't have those reasoning skills. With your reasoning, you could just as well say it's wrong if a child is taught not to do something becasue they are afraid to go to time out. It doesn't matter if it is spanking or time out, if they stop, it is initially because they fear the consequences - it is well after that the teaching part begins, as someone else mentioned. Spanking was effective with 2 out of 3 of my
  12. Good morning Paulding! Have a great Sunday, mine is almost over - good night!
  13. I looked into electric cars a few years ago when the gas got so bad. I had a hard time finding one that would accomodate my family - not to mention the prices were still way up there. I know prices will come down with time, but I hope they also come up with a way to power a larger vehicle for families.
  14. My dad used to be a Submarine......... At least that's what I thought when I was six!
  15. Ok, so am a glutton for punishment and googled it. All the images are blocked here! LOL After reading the descriptions, I am glad the pics are blocked, lol. You are some sick, sick folk.
  16. Not agreed. Sheesh, cars get swept off the road by flash floods all the time by people out in bad weather for reasons equally as dumb as a phone call. They perhaps weren't using the best judgement going out, but no more so than anyone else. Their beliefs have nothing to do with this - but I guess that's the new "American way" - if they don't dress like us, sound like us, act like us and desire a 45" LCD with surround sound in the living room, then anything bad that happens must be their own fault. Can't we just be sad that children died and not point fingers at people?
  17. Aw, that is a shame. Very talented young man. He was definitely one of my favorites.
  18. That is sad. Those poor children. God Bless thier families in this time of mourning.
  19. Well, it's a better outcome than what I was thinking. Thank God she is safe. Now they need to figure out if she just wanted an adventure, or if she had good reason not to want to be at home - and how the heck she got to Vegas, who sells a bus ticket like that to a 12 yr old?
  20. Morning Paulding County! Hope your weather is looking up this morning. It's 84 degrees and sunny here in the desert, I'm off for a picnic in the park with the kids this afternoon. Have a great weekend!
  21. faux Gyros Cook up some ground turkey and chopped onions - amount will depend on how many you're feeding. Add some parsley, salt, and pepper to taste. While it's cooking, chop up some cucumbers and tomatoes, about half and half. Mix them with enough plain low-fat yogurt to coat all the pieces and make it a thick sauce consistancy. Squirt with a little lemon juice and dill to taste. Cut whole wheat pita loaves in half, and fill about 1/3 each with turkey mixture and 1/3 with sauce. Totally easy and it's yummy.
  22. A US hospital is offering to have him transfered in so the parents can have more control. The Canadian hospital says if they get the permission, they will pull the tubes anyway even if the transfer is arranged.
  23. There's more to it than that, i have been following this case. The couple had a daughter with the same neurological problem before, in the end there was noting left to (as with this case). They gave her a tracheotomy (sp?) which allowed her 6 more months to live, and the parents took her home to spend that time with her. This is what they want here. The boy is going to die anyway, the parents just want to buy that little bit of time and take him home to die. The hospital says no, they won't perform the surgery, because it is too risky (???!!!!!), and they want to remove the tubes now, wit
  24. It's a beautiful day! Make it count!
  25. The last phone conversation that was posted here is also different from the original posted. Someone's holding out - i just don't know if it is the news, the cops, or the family. I am willing to bet the police suspect something foul with the story and that's why no alert has been issued. IMO - by 12 a child should know not to get into a van with a stranger and be able to make judgement calls tht simple. 12 yrs old is the age that state says they are old enough to babysit - not that ALL 12 yr olds are mature enough for that, but most are. If the Uncle supposedly thought she was mature e
