  1. Yes, sorry. The Jamboree was in Cairo, actually. I am very glad it was cancelled. Like I said, where we are (Abu Dhabi), there was no indication of what was going on. Still isn't, except for people worried about folks they know.
  2. There was a Boy Scout Jamboree my kid was supposed to be at this weekend. They cancelled it for security reasons before we even knew what was going on. There is hardly any indication of the problems in Egypt here, except that almost everyone knows someone from there. A lot of prayers are going up for them tonight.
  3. OoeyGooeyBread 1 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled 1 can whompum biscuits - 6 to a can, cheddar biscuits if you can find them 1 bag shredded cheddar chesse (if you can't find cheddar biscuits) REAL maple syrup 1 meatloaf/bread/loaf pan Heat oven to about 375 Coat the bottom of the pan first with butter (sides too), then with a thin layer of the maple syrup sprinkle in 1/3 of the bacon (if you couldn't find cheddar biscuits, sprinkle in about the same amount of cheese as bacon) cover with 3 biscuits, tear if neccessary to fit and cover sprinkle in 1/3 of bacon (and cheese if
  4. I don't know that I have a clear enough picture to form an opinion. How old are the kids? How long has it been since the divorce? How are the kids handling it? What kind of travel time are we talking - the kind that would rule out arriving at 5 AM reasonably? What were the families Christmas practices prior to the divorce? I don't think easing kids into a divorce situation neccesarily ALWAYS confuses them, and I don't think doing this THIS Christmas is any commitment to doing it every Christmas. If the divorce is fresh and the kids are young or possibly not handling things well, I don
  5. I disagree, I think. It's been a long time since I lived in NY, but we were ALWAYS taught to give right of way to a funeral by pulling over or allowing them through the intersections etc. My father was a cop and worked MANY funeral processions. Now, of course, we weren't in NYC. But don't blame them on us, they're all crazy! LOL
  6. My kids were so bummed out they were missing out on snaow and a snow day from school - then they remembered they were on their way to the park and we were going swimming later! LOL
  7. Gladly. You are going to have to be the feet of the operation, though. I'm.....uuuuuuhhh....... in Abu Dhabi. LOL
  8. I have never met her either, except I keep finding her attached to someone in every circle of friends I have. She's shown up on my FB, with my church friends, in my threads here.....and she took stuff out of my driveway once......LOL She must be a very busy stalker.
  9. Sorry, a day out in the sun and 2 glasses of wine seriously cuts into my ability to deal with the intellectual....LOL
  10. I have had a BEAUTIFUL sunny day. Oldest boy's team got coached by the professional rugby team here, while the parents hung out at the club. I've been watching little kids riding up and down the square on bicycles and scooters. Outside smells delicious as everyone in the compound grills their suppers and I am on the patio in my bare feet enjoying a wine spritzer. QUIT THE NEGATIVITY! YOUR'RE HARSHING MY MELLOW!!!! Ahhh.....prayer call...so bootiful! Gotta go, bbl
  11. From the movie Michael - "I'm not that kind of Angel"
  12. How horrible. While I have very strong feelings (and not the pleasant kind) about this woman and her family, it's not my place to judge her as a person or if she is truly remorseful - that is being done by someone much more knowledgeable about her heart than I . I only pray for her conversion, that her heart is truly softened, that she learns the true meaning of repentance, and that God may have Mercy on her soul. I am praying for everyone in that awful situation, especially that little girl.
  13. St. Catherine's in Kennesaw will have on on 10/28, and St. Vincent in Dallas will have one in November - but I am not sure of the exact date.
  14. Good! He is a great guy, a middle school teacher. And - JSYK - you certainly don't have to be Christian to join, he won't even ask, but you should be aware that he prays before and after every class.
  15. Try Living Waters Martial Arts. Small classes taught by one teacher and his daughters in the McEachern Methodist classrooms. He teaches Modern Arnis, a Filipino Martial Art, and is the BEST with the kids (he can also tach the adults how to kick some butt! LOL) The uniforms are a little pricey, but after that, there are no "testing fees", he doesn't believe in being a "belt factory", and the monthlies are cheaper than anywhere. He does it for the kids, not the money.
  16. Now? Or when you posted? LOL We are eight hours ahead of you. We also have Fridays and Saturdays off, and back to work on Sundays. Haven't quite gotten the hang of that one yet being church going folk, so I sort of end up giving myself a three day weekend, LOL. But it's Thursday night right now, which is the same as your Friday night. Does that clear it up?
  17. It's EXTREMELY safe here. It is a Muslim country, but they allow the practice of all religions. The government is a US ally, and at peace with all other Muslim nations. The crime rate is almost nothing because the punishments are so harsh.
  18. HOG, from my point of view, you are over there. Thanks NG. <3 Yes, we are in the UAE, Abu Dhabi. My husband is actually teachng math, but in English in order to teach the unique vocabulary that goes with it. Customer service here makes the South look like a speedway. After a month, we have finally gotten internet and I got a little stir crazy this morning for someone to talk to! Y'all sleep too late! LOL (yes, I am awoken by a prayer call at 5am - an improvement on the 4:30 call from when we got here.)
  19. Every day forcasted says the same thing here. Hot, no rain. I gave up almost all of my worldly possessions to be here, but not my lap top! And after a month I finally have internet. Yay! But you are all still sleeping. Wake up and talk to me Paulding County!
  20. I have a question, and please don't take this in any way meant to be offensive - it's not - it's just something I often wonder and never get the chance to ask. I am not Baptist, so I am not completely familiar with the beliefs. But IF the Baptist church believes that yoga, premarital sex, drinking, and cussing are sinnful, and you do not, then why do you choose to go to and identify yourself with a Baptist church? Why not find a church whose beliefs are more in line with your own, or simply ditch organized religion altogether? I hear many people list their differences of belief with the chu
  21. There is a lot of talk about making the vaccine mandatory for certain populations, like for these healthcare workers in NY and in schools for some states.
  22. They knock if they don't want to leave skid marks in my front yard....
  23. That they do, as sad as that is. My feeling is that at least, then, my conscience is clear. She is thier responsibility and they will reap what they sow (and take care of the harvest while she finishes school, LOL)
