Beans and lentils in a buttery tomato sauce, creamy with just a nip of spice - it's like a stew

What in that scenario sugested it was a place that showed skin anyhow? It was only "not really parallel" because you made it so. I doubt they make them wear Santa hats all year, therefore the parallel stands. If you need a specifics spelled out, let's say it was a clothing store. Normal "smart casual" dress the rest of the year, a week before the 4th they hand out itty bitty bikini's. It's the same situation, but a different personal morality. We wouldn't expect our employers to require us to put on a costume that compromised our moral or religious beliefs, we have to treat the JW the same way

Anyone heard about a bus being surrounded by cops

I completely admire the people who get our children safely to school and back everyday, I would not have the nerves for it. That said...If I come for my child, you need to step. out. of. the. way. And lock the door while my child is trying to get to me? Oh haaaaiiiiilllllllll no. The police did this woman a favor before some PO'd mother got to her. I hope she gets whatever it is she needs to put herself back together. -
Adorable! We had a big dog that was so dumb, but so sweet, that whenever we came home he had no idea if he was bad or not - so he would just skulk around and grin like that until we checked the house and told him he was a good boy!

So....if your place of employment decided for the 4th of July weekend that you would need to parade your butt around in a red, white and blue string bikini - and you'd better be sure it showed plenty of cleavage - you'd be OK with it,right? I mean, it's required for the job, according to your boss, and the only thing standing in the way are your personal morals....

Um, well, it's almost supper time on Sunday here, lol, but we are having Butter Chicken - it's an Indian Dish with a whole chicken in a creamy tomato sauce.

I agree with this - to a point. I think private colleges have the right to hire who ever they want, and we as parents need to do our due diligence before we send out children there. Where the grey area come in, for me, are state run schools. Now we are talking about my tax dollars paying theri salary - but still, I have the right not to send my child there and others in the state who may choose that school are also paying taxes and it's a distribution thing - so it doesn't bug me that much. Here's one for you - there is a local college who employs a woman who advertises herself as look

We do this - my kids love them. I find frozen greens blend better, and if you put a banana in it, it will mask any hint of bitterness. I use frozen fruit so I don't need ice, some organic plain yogurt and raw honey - so VERY yummy!

OK, so I'm reading this thead and doing the ugly cry and my husband askes me what the thread is about. I tell him "it's about how fast babies grow up", and he says "that's right , less that 5 years and [insert name of oldest] will be out of the house." Men are BIG STUPID-HEADS!!!!!

The quotes from your posts suport what I said your opinion seems to be exactly. You said outright, yes, to teach values and have rules, but that it was useless in the long run and they needed to be on birth control. I understand your opinion, mine is that teaching a daughter that sex is wrong because she might get pregnant, and then putting her on the pill - again, a class 1 carcinogen among other risks - so that she doesn't have to worry about getting pregnant, is a mixed message and does more damage than good. I stand by the thought that the teen pregnancy issue will continue to be
-
From you. Your stance seems to be that parents need to put their young teen girls on BC pills - class 1 carsinogens, btw - unless they want to become grandparents. Teaching self-control is "in-vain" because the rest of the worlds influence is so much stronger than that of the parent. And just for good measure, you need to give your kid internet access to all this crap so they won't be "socially awkward, repressed and statistically rebellious" (statistically untrue, BTW)

Then you need to go back and read what I wrote. I never said that "it wouldn't be and issue", I said that it makes a difference. Are any of the things we are talking about foolproof? No, of course not. Teens are teens, they will always believe themselves invincible and that will lead to mistakes - serious ones for some of them. I still don't think that that is justification to throw in the towel on teaching them self-control and self-worth in favor of handing them a bag of condoms and telling them to "just be careful." I am in no way implying that that's what you did, in fact, I admire yo

Who said anything about attaching shame to sex? You are putting words in my mouth for your own benefit. AND, I never said teaching ANY of those things were at odds with contraception, again, YOU have made it so. What I said, was that they needed to know about contraception, but they should also be taught that abstinence is a MUCH better way to go - it is the only thing, when practiced properly, that is 100% effective. But according to you, what's the point? The world has so overrun any possible chance we have of actually PARENTING our children, that let's just give in to what ever they wa

Actually, if you truely teach a child values and morals, that's EXACTLY what makes the difference in the back seat of a car. How sad that you think what we teach our children means nothing when we are not around. What a sad commentary on your view of families. Of course they should know what contraceptives are - and why they are not the answer to everything. You are displaying the same attitude I was talking about "I can teach them what I want, but they will never listen, so I will just give them contraceptives because it's easier than fighting." How can you send a clear message that sex i

So, it's OK at 15 to have sex as much as they wish, as long as they don't get pregnant - and you think people are going to consider you harsh? I think this a very lenient stance. As long as they are living under my roof and care, they are a child - and sex is not for children. Having sex before they are mature enough can damage a child far beyond just getting pregnant or getting a disease. Statisiticly, our "this is how you use birth control" only years in the schools only saw climbing numbers of unmarried teen pregnancies. They started coming down when we started re-adding the mo

Georgia is a "right to work" state and has the worst labor laws in the country - or so I was told by a lawyer when i was "let go" with a 4 wk old baby at home and lost 8 wks of maternity leave and had medical insurance yanked out from underneath both of us. I am so sorry you are enduring this additional stress. Please contact the folks on that I list I sent you - they will set you up with all you need for that baby, and may be able to help you with this as well. Hang in there kiddo!

I have very unpopular view. I think modern society simply has caved into the fact that teens want to have sex and don't want to get maried until much later in life. It is much easier to put a "band-aid" over the problem by handing them contraceptives and telling them to "be careful", than it is to go back to teaching them that sex is for responsible adults with a commitment to one another. It's not even a popular opinion among adults, why should they teach it to their children? I am not for teaching "abstinence only", I think they should know what's out there. But, I am all for teach

I'm not attacking you MD, but what was said was correct - this wasn't exactly printed in the NY Times. It's probably not even on anyone's radar. You can't speak out against that which you do not know about. -

It's not even run out of America - it's a site, and a "group" out of Britain. And that's only if it's not a hoax. -
I just spent the morning with a bunch of Marines. Good kids. I can say that, because other than the Gunny Sgt, they all looked about 12 to me, LOL. The Scouts here went out to the Embassy for a "field trip". They got to learn about Embassy Guard life and the rights US Citizenship affords them no matter where they are in the world. We met the US Consul General - who also was young enough to have been a kid I babysat - very nice guy, though. They let the kids try on all the combat gear and we all got to play with their $80,000 "Wii" that they use for training. The rifles were suprisin
