People who have preconceived notions about me are surprised to find me easy going, genuinely interested in what they have to say, full of laughter, and not scary at all. Lady Raider is still surprised that I am not tall, thin, with long black hair.

I agree. And, once again after one of these stories break, I'm left asking the same question. How many more people are there in the world being held in some form of slavery????? -
My "baby" turns 13 in a month!

Yet another reason why I'm so thankful we have the choice to vaccinate, or not. [And why there's no way in hell I'll be getting the newly rushed flu vaccine. No way, no how!] At least it doesn't contain a weakened live version within it! Nor does the polio vaccine we use here in the states anymore. ==================================== Polio surge in Nigeria after vaccine virus mutates http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2009-08...ria-polio_N.htm LONDON (AP) — Polio, a dreaded paralyzing disease stamped out in the industrialized world, is spreading in Nigeria despite e

I'm sorry for your loss, and the untimely/unexplained death. I'm sure the shock has been great for everyone. -

I highly recommend the body donation program at Emory University Medical School. Check into it CO. My in-laws both donated their body to science via Emory. When the med students were done learning all they could, then their bodies were cremated and the ashes returned to the family. Here ya go: http://cellbio.emory.edu/body_donor_program.cfm

I think it's extremely sensible to be cremated. I certainly will be. I could foresee a future where everyone will have to be. I mean, we're not going to be able to continue to take up land for bodies instead of people. As for spiritual/religious reasons, I have no problem with cremation whatsoever. In fact, spiritually speaking, it's more desirable from my POV.

It'll be interesting to see how all the testing ends up. I completely understand questioning her sex and going to extremes yo find out definitively. Hysterical!!!!

Words, both negative and positive, have great power. We yield them sometimes as hot pokers, sharp swords, as well as soft feathers. We can impact one anothers lives, businesses, and our communities through how we choose to use language - both written and spoken. Some people are very cliquish - simply to belong or feel important - that they choose to not see the impact they can have, or in fact, some simply do not care. Worse yet are the ones who deliberately use them to harm through ugliness, lies, or slander/liable. I remember the thread you're referencing, and my heart goes out to t

How large of a burn is it? Rule of thumb on burns is if it's bigger than the palm of your hand you should seek medical attention. Seriously! Burns become easily/quickly infected. It sounds you like you got a pretty decent second degree burn on your hands -- so, if it's bigger than the area of palm, get it checked. (Mayo suggests any bigger than 3" in diameter, have it checked.) Otherwise, here you go: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/first-aid-burns/FA00022

I'd say that looks like a bunch of policemen who forgot their training and were working from a pack mentality, hyped up on adrenaline. To give them the benefit of the doubt, looks can always be deceiving. I hope they get to the bottom of it with their internal investigation, and are punished accordingly if needed.
