  1. I nearly got broadside at a stop sign because of 2 clueless people at a 4 - way last week. Lady to my right was definately first. Then me, then person opposite me then man to my left. It was really cut and dry as to the order. The law says yield to the person on the right if you arrive at the same time. Other than that it is by who arrived first and common sense. Yeah I know, the last one is asking a lot of some folks. Anyway lady on my right had the right of way and just sat there. The she flashed her lights to yield the ROW. Common sense again would dictate that she was yielding to me sinc
  2. I just thought that I would point out that Falcon Contracting is my company.

    AAARRRGGG

I got a new laptop a couple of weeks ago. My daughter needed a new computer so we bumped everything down one, which actually gave Dis jr. his own laptop even though the DVD drive does not work. Any way... This new one does not seem to like the "s" button when I type. So I will say it now, if you see me leave out an "s" it i the computer not me. See... It just did it again!

    PSA

I just thought I would say that I never had a quota of tickets to write, I was allowed to write as many as I wanted to. :p But I would say only about 60 - 70% of the people I stopped actually got a ticket or at least got one less than the actual number of violations. For instance speeding + covered tag + covered brake lights would yield 2 not 3 tickets. I used it as a way to "meet and greet the public" ans see who was out there. You would be surprised at the number of illegal drivers and wanted people you catch that way. Just making the roads safe for everyone...
  5. That is what I thought. I was reading some comments on a new article where a person wanted to know why the banks did not have to pay and that took me off gaurd.
  6. Here are a few thoughts / questions. I know for a fact that if an individual does not pay his property taxes, then the county can seize the property and sell it at auction on the courthouse steps in order to settle the debts from the past due taxes. I have always just taken it for granted that any entity that owns a property would also have to pay with the exception of churches. Now the burning question... Do the banks that have possesion of a foreclosed property have to pay the county taxes on it? Can they defer it, by agreement with the county, until it is sold? Is it just considered a loss
  7. You really need to blame the right "dips". And those do not include W, who tried to mitigate the effects of the housing bubble. The ones that need to be blamed are ALL politicians from BOTH SIDES that blocked the 3 seperate attempts to put the brakes on the policies that mandated all those bad home loans. W. himself asked for this. And you also need to blame the people who took out these loans themselves, knowing full well they could not afford that loan. Anyone who still does not believe that this economy was not the direct result of the housing crash is an idiot. Barney Franks is a prime exa
  8. They do not appear to be paying them while they are not in prison either. Your point?
  9. Just gonna jump to the end here. I see no problem with this. Either as a work out, I hear it is a really good one too, or as a private dance between them and their spouse. as far as the music goes, there is a very wide range to what is called "Christian music". does anyone else remember Stryper? They were a heavy metal christian group. So I'm sure that there would be some kind of music that they could fnid usable for this. Although it tends to not fit my definition of typical Christian music.
  10. My wife had a similar experience with a ladies workout place. They kept cutting operating hours at her chosen location to the point that she could not even attend it. They even had the tanning salon owner next door go over and open their doors so people could go in and work out with NO staff there. And it was in Mableton! I know this because I saw it. My wife complained to me and I was doing a job behind the location so I sat outside and watched at opening time. I even went to talk with the tanning salon worker who explained what was going on. I went several times during operating hours and f
  11. I am still waiting for Whitey to spread his wisdom in here. I'm sure it would be something like "if you were union this would not happen". My only reply to that would be "I thought you were against mil increases. And after the way the county cut its budgets over the last 3 years, that is the only way other than salary cuts to balance the budget". That is why I do not buy his union arguements for government workers. You can't have it both ways. At this point either the citizens pay more, Well actually it would still be less than they paid in 2008, or we get paid less. I looked at the budget an
  12. It seems that Cobb county is seeing a budget shortfall of about $30 million. Most of the county departments have been cutting budgets every which way they could. The fire dept. went from $70 million down to $65 million from 2010 to 2011 alone. But that will not be enough. The commisioners met today and pretty much told the department heads to come up with new cuts up to and including furlough days for everyone. The exact numbers are not in yet but should be ready for approval by early April. Oh well... I am still very happy to have my job. Let's just say that I am now even less incline
  13. About $12 million of it is slated to go to the Dept. of Public Safety. I think $250 mil to DOT, $169 mil to parks and rec with the remainder to local cities. I know the PS is correct but I am not certain on the others.
  14. The last numbers I saw put theSPLOST down by about 51 votes with about 41,000 voters turning out.
  15. I'd agree. Plus if you put out pre-emergiant then the grass seeds will not germinate anyway.
  16. And those very same rights mean that ANY child in that class can eat a PB&J Sand. for lunch. Your rights end where mine begin. While I might be considerate about your allergy and CHOOSE not to, it is still my right to eat whatever I want to. Well I would not be the one eating the PB&Js because I am allergic to peanuts as well. I just choose not to let it bother me. I do get jealous of the guys when they eat them, because I used to and I really liked them. As was pointed out earlier, life is not always fair but you just have to make the best of the hand that you are dealt. Too many pe
  17. That is not quite the case. With me, I got worse. I used to eat Peanut butter out of the jar until my 20's. Then I just could not do it anymore. In most caes where a child has the food allergy, it appears to have lessened but in reality it has more to do with the fact that their bodies have grown. The airway in a child is really quite small and it does not take much swelling to close it off, while in an adult there would have to be much more severe swelling in order to close off the airway. In anaphylaxis, there is also the possibility of dying from hypovolemic shock. The blood vessels dialate
  18. And what if every other parent of a student in her class / grade said we do not want our child in her class? I would think that it would be within those parents rights to refuse to have their own child participate in those "safety rules", thus making their child inelidgible for enrollment in her class. Then what doe the school do? give the girl a class and teacher all of her own? She will be an outcast by default.
  19. Those experiences need to be considered "lessened" by the parent due to the fact that THEIR child has the allergy and will not be able to fully participate. I have to accept the same with Dis jr. Due to his ADHD / ODD he is in a special class at a different school than all of his friends here. He can not go to school with them now but it is not their fault. It is not fair to those students for the teacher to spend all of their time dealing with him rather than working more effectively with the whole class. As a whole the School ystem has been really good to us and he seems to be doing much be
  20. I haven't read all the posts yet. I am allergic to peanuts but apparantly not as bad as her. So I will say the following. I completely agree with LTD in his assessment. Your rights end where mine or my child's begin. While I agree with the hand washing as a good hygiene case, I do have to wonder about the mouth wash. And I also wonder about a child with Psoriasis. Scrubbing like that all the time is going to do terrible things to their own skin. Then I also wonder about what exactly are the parents / child going to do later in life when the child has to go to work. Anyone else but me thinking
  21. Woke up with this in my head and was singing it while making breakfast for the kids, who were wholely befuddled. "Dad... What is that song? You made that up right?" Nope http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NA90IlymdZ4 Now they are both hooked
  22. As much as I love WDW and the monorail, I have to ask have you ever gotten on ot after a long summer day at the park after th parade and fireworks? I really need that puking Emoticon about now too. I am a lot of things. One of the things I am not is responsible for my neighbor's hygiene or lack there of. I choose not to be trpped within those conditions if I can prevent it.
  23. I'm at the dealership getting my Free oi change. So I have time on my hands to look around. I just about. passed out when I saw the current prices. I knew there was an increase in the price of trucks from our last purchase in Oct. last year but this is outrageous. A new laccrosse has gone from 23,000 to 35,000 and a new Cruze will start at 20,000. WTH?!?
  24. I can send you my brother in laws company info. He has a good paint company. (he has crews out in New York and Texas) painting Auto Zones. I'm sure he has one available for local work too. Tyson Painting.

I can provide you with the name and number of an excellent employment law attorney if you like. She was very helpful in helping us get my wife's unemployment approved. I do know that you should: 1. Get a copy of the form they said you signed. 2. If you did not sign it or they can not produce it and you can show that they llaid you off because you are pregnant, then you should seek representation by legal counsel. They have every right to let you go in Georgia for any reason EXCEPT descrimitory reasons. They can get into big trouble for that.
