    Gas Prices

And you remember what the world said about the th US when we diverted corn into our Ethanol program. "it is a crine against humanity" I say thw world can still function without oil. No it will not be pretty. But the WORLD can not function without the food that we produce here in abundance, yet we get so little for it. We even have to give it away for free to countries in need. I say we trade food for oil in an even trade.
  2. I totally agree. But there are many on here that seem to think it is all rosey out there because there is now a Democrat in the White House. But to be fair there are also those that see only doom and gloom bedcause of the same reason. I really try to consider the facts before I argue a topic.
  3. Just to be clear, Stopping to let someone enter into traffic is NOT illegal. It may be unexpected in today's society though. The proble that I have seen with this is, say you are stopping to let someone turn left across you. Then the person behind you decides not to wait and makes an illegal pass on your right. That could easily result in a crash. But what was the cause. The idiot who passed on the right illegally was not following the rules and was not being courteous.
  4. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110217/ap_on_bi_ge/us_unemployment_benefits And we are supposed to think everything is just rosey according to some here. Yeah, yeah... We know, Employment is a lagging indicator. But Pubby himself proclaimed last week that we were adding 275,000 jobs a month. Where did they go?
  5. :drinks: :yahoo: There are many like that out there. I always tell my kids while we are driving "you can be experienced, you can have the best skills out there but if you lack courtesy you will still be a bad driver".
  6. Here's to praying for a speedy recovery.
  7. I'll never forget the first time I heard my new pastor at the Lutheran church say in the sermon "I can't wait for the game today and to sitdown and drink a cold beer". Say what?!? I was used to the old (as in previous and age) pastor and this new guy just yanked the carpet out from under me and I fell right on my tush. As I say, Sometimes I just do not think about some things. There is no reason that the pastor could not watch the game and drink a beer.
  8. Now that the other topic is officially closed, I hope there is not another hijacking attempt here.
  9. Oh no you di unt!!! well ok, I did. But did not say "let me be clear".
  10. I would have to check TP, but I believe that the law does allow alcohol consumption by a minor in the home with the parents consent. HPD, I agree. They really need to get the age thing down. Parents are legally responsible until 18, You can not buy alcohol until 21 but can be drafted at 18 and you can vote at 18. You can not sign a binding agreement until 18 (unless emancipated minor) It makes no sense. They used to let you drink on base if you were underage but serving. I think this has changed.
  11. Did the parents pour the alcohol down their throats? For that matter, did I or any other responsible adult pour that alcohol down their throat? It is the resposibility of the parents AND the child. I was raised in a home with an alcoholic father who drank himself to suicide and who in the later phases beat me and my sister. Your arguement gets no sympathy from me. I hold my father responsible for his actions. I also take great pride in knowing that even though I had my very own "stash" im my room, ( it was only there for the time it would take me to find enough of my dad's whiskey to fill
  12. That's ok, I was just teasing. I hope you were not to shaken up in the wreck. That location is not too far from where I live. Someone here stole my bike a while back. Not a really nice one but why would anyone take a Sear's men's ATB complete with a baby seat on it? Not like they are going to get a buch of money for it. I usually get these for $10 at yard sales. That pales in comparison to their loss though.
  13. As I stated in the other topic, that went poof , The topic is UNDERAGE DRINKING, WHAT CAN BE DONE AND WHY ARE THE PARENTS NOT RESPONSIBLE AND THE REST OF SOCIETY IS?
  14. Someone stole a house?!? Sorry... I just couldn't resist. That is terrible news though. I hate to hear about things like that happening. Hope they catch them.
  15. There you go Butterfly, I started a topic on underage drinking just for you. Go have some fun there ok.
  16. I do not care where you got the question from. You asked it, I answered it. It is really that simple. You need to go start your own topic now. This one is about Alcohol sales on Sunday NOT the problem of underage drinking and why the parents of those children are not to be held responsible for that problem while everyone else in our society is.
  17. And I only responded to your question. You did ask that question within a thread about Sunday alcohol sales, yes? It is irrelavent to me why you asked the question.
  18. No, but as it pertains to alcohol sales on Sunday. And the fact that the biggest reason people want to ban it on Sunday is because of their own personal religious views, then her right to have no religious view is directly pertinent to this topic while the underage drinking is not germain to this discussion as religion has no direct bearing on underage drinking.
  19. Hold the parents AND the children responsible for their actions. A parent IS directly responsible for their underage children's actions no matter what. If the child can not be controled, then the parent can turn them over to the state. I assure you that the state WILL monitor and control their actions. But to trample on the rights of the free people just because a child is not being controlled by their parents is not the way to go about this.
  20. It might just be the pyrimid of empty beer cans on the table in the middle of all those kids or the overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage on their breath. It might be the fact that they can not even stand up and are slurring their speech more than Red Buttons. I never said it was a traffic stop by the way. Most of the time when we have this type of thing happen it was because a neighbor called about a bunch of drunk teens partying at 2AM next door. And by the way, an alcosensor test is not the same as a breathalyzer. It can only be used to indicate a positive or negative presence of
  21. You are treating the symptoms and not addressing the cause of the symptoms. The sooner people realize that, the faster we as a community will be able to cure the desease. Continued treatment of the smptoms will get us no where.
  22. How well are the parents parenting? Maybe we should punish them for allowing this to happen instead of trying to infringe on other, more competant people's rights.
  23. And the funniest thing about the underage drinking part is when they do get busted. They think they are off the hook just because you can not put an alcohol container in their hand. But we then have them blow into an alcosensor. Test positive, you get a citation for underage in possesion. To which they generally respond, But I do not have a drink in my possesion. No, you do not but I can now prove that there is one in your system therefore you are in possession of alcohol INSIDE your body. Works just as good in court.
  24. So it would be a even better idea to ban alcohol sales in the US completely correct? Ans since cars kill so many people, we should outlaw them as well. Then you have fire, which kills many more people a year than alcohol. And drownings, we should eliminate all areas of water that could tempt someone into taking a dip. A lot of people get hurt every year while playing sports. We should do away with that too. Salt, sugar and fast food contribute to health issues, got to ban those too. My kids are driving my blood pressure up not to mention making my hair turn grey, I should do away with them too
