  1. I imagine that having to hunt enough to feed not only themselves but a child as big as that is a full time job.
  2. She's WAY out on a limb ain't she!! So what's eagle for "Hey Ya'll Watch This!"
  3. Hmmm.. I've been away a bit and haven't seen these claims. Have they been actual descriptions of how the airport will lower the taxes or is it just "Then a miracle occurs and lower taxes result" comment ? Besides, if that is case, this guy is running for the School board, fighting a proposal that, in theory, would offer more support for the schools and wants my vote? Besides, I don't see the big school tax connection. As I understand it, no matter who is running it, the airport is county owned (at least so far, if Pubby's conspiracy theory is to be considered) , so as far as I know,
  4. Let's face it, we the people train our politicians to lie to us. When is the last time you heard of a politician that told a hard truth getting elected? Just about never. Those politicians that lie through their teeth and say whatever majority groups of people want to hear are the ones that get elected. So... they learn to lie and then when the promises don't pan out, they lie more and blame anything but themselves and we the sheeple keep buying it. It's like the idiot running for school board that has "No Airport Expansion" on his signs around here in the north part of the county
  5. First, maybe I just missed it somewhere, but this is the first time I've seen this explanation of what exactly each party was expected to pay brought out. Would have been really nice for the BOC and company to spell it out this simply to begin with. Had it been stated clearly that this was the plan I'd not questioned it quite as much. Second, anybody have any idea if the FAA has committed to pay for these modifications already or would we be proceeding to spend the bond money on a "I sure hope they decide to pay for it" Third, I'm not convinced your comparison is apt with the car t
  6. Well, actually got the flu shot this year and didn't get the flu!! Not sure one is related to the other, but hey, it seemed to work.
  7. Ace Hardware in New Hope has 'em. Started to get one myself, may still do it, I have those things all over the house. Cold winter kills bug my foot!
  8. Yep. Somehow even though all these little airports are losing their flights due to lack of profit, somehow little Paulding is suppose to be a miracle working little airport that could and and will grow and grow. Yea right. Note that airport has been sitting empty from last Sept to May. Wonder if they paid lease on all the gates while they were closed. Wonder how many jobs the flights that were not flying created? Summer jobs flinging baggage is not the kind of jobs Paulding needs. This money would *so* be better spent getting real jobs in here.
  9. I will say that I've had less than stellar responses out of appliance repair work as well. I was headed out of town for a week when our washer went "Pop" on Sunday afternoon and water started pouring on the floor. I determined it was a cracked inlet valve, but it would be a week before I could get it and get it put in, so I told my wife to call Maytag and get a repair person on it, figuring that would be faster. Yea right. I came back home that Friday to a broken washer as he had "ordered" the part(s) but hadn't gotten them or gotten back to us yet. (Plus dinged us for $200 for a contr
  10. Mike Kitchen's Septic did my FIL, my Dads and ours with good results and reasonable pricing. They charge by the tank size.
  11. For netflix, our blueray player supports it, so we do all the NetFlix viewing through it. I ran an ethernet CAT5 cable to the back of the TV stand. Some player have wifi if you have to have it, but be prepared to pay. For Comcast, If you can, go down to the Dallas Comcast office and talk with them. Prepare to wait, there seems to be a lot of people that won't mail their payments in. However, when upgrading my service I found them extremely helpful and they offered options that the national website (which sucks a LOT) would not mention. Of course, maybe I just got the on
  12. Your story is why I buy from the store. Your Fridge was delivered directly from the warehouse, no store involved, that is why neither have a record of it. I bought mine from the Hiram store. First delivery, I sent the first Fridge back because some idiot had rammed the side of it with a forklift. Yea, I couldn't have seen the scrape in my kitchen but by gosh I spend $1500 for a Fridge, I expect it to be PERFECT. No complaints, they took it back and had another out the next day. I think the "you need new accessories" line is just their way of making sure the guys have everything th
  13. Agreed it's not a cause, but I think the lack of training in how to handle adversity can make dealing with adversity much, much worse for one prone to mental illness. In my BIL case, most of the family members that met her felt she was somewhat mentally ill before my BIL got to know her, so it was definitely a factor there. (This was long before I met my wife, so I only have second hand information) However, sometimes even knowing that they are ill is not enough. A young high school girl of friends of ours committed suicide several years ago. She went from a bright, bubbly lovely yo
  14. I've found two of them on me already this spring. I'm watching closely how I feel. Time to knuke this place. Hard winter kills bugs my butt.
  15. I have to wonder if it's not because of the "no pain" childhoods that are being inflicted on many kids now. Everybody gets a trophy, everybody gets to pass, everybody gets a part in the play. These kids grow up thinking that nothing should ever go wrong for them. Then Life hits them in the face and they have no experience to deal with it. They don't go to family because they don't know they are supposed to. They don't know that ups will follow downs because their whole life has been an up. There used to be an old saying that you did a child no good by wrapping them in a blanket and
  16. Sonnys. $48 A Quarter as I recall.
  17. Well got the shower guts replaced. The depot actually had the OEM part, as mentioned here I have found the Chinese carp doesn't get the job done long term. We are planning on staying here so I try to fix it right. Next up, the pool pipe replacement. I just don't know how people who don't do it themselves afford it. The Times we have had to call someone it's been a couple of hundred bucks minimum. Ouch.
  18. Built our home here in Paulding and moved in in April 2000 as our forever home. However, no one warned me the lifetime of most of a house is much shorter than the mortgage. Week before last I had to replace the water tank in the refrigerator and a toilet flapper replacement. Last week was spent picking up hundreds of fallen branches and limbs and burning them, tightening up a dripping cutoff valve in the basement and trying to sharpen the lawnmower blades. Still haven't replaced the pipe on the pool that burst when it froze this winter, the kitchen faucet is beginning to drip and I was t
  19. Most airlines will let you check in on line 24 hours before the flight, you can then print out his boarding pass as home. That way you can see what the planned gate is, boarding group, seat assignment, etc;. (However, make sure to tell him to check the monitors once he gets there, the gates can and do change.) Tell him to be ready to blast off, they like to climb fast out of ATL.
  20. Yikes! Changed to IP Board and got nothing but error messages that the board was down. Lucky I had another window open already to Pcom and was able to change back in that window.
  21. Mark all read worked on the mobile page. I'm finally getting used to the mobile version. I'm liking it.
  22. From the county website: If you want to burn all the limbs that dropped from this crazy winter, need to do it this afternoon/evening! Small Campfires are permitted, no leaves or grass clipping may be burned. Must be in a ring or pit.
  23. Yea. I guess I just learned how to prevent storms.... spend an hour moving keepsakes and pictures to the basement, go get gas for the generator, battery up all the flashlights and empty out the storm room in the basement and move the weather radio next to the bed. These people forecast rain as well as they do snow. 2-4 inches, ha!
  24. Well, it's 100% chance of severe thunderstorms on the NOAA sites. I cancelled a trip I had planned for Wed/Thur due to the forecast let's see if they get it right *this* time. Last night was a bust.
