  1. Ok, don't know what years these people were on the BOE, but the History page of the 2011 BOE budget shows: 2002 - 2003 - M&O = $34,055,167 (17.290) 2003 - 2004 - M&O = $36,619,864 (16.409) 2004 - 2005 - M&O = $41,003,891 (16.409) 2005 - 2006 - M&O = $47,177,060 (16.409) 2006 - 2007 - M&O = $55,398,054 (16.409) 2007 - 2008 - M&O = $71,801,202 (18.909) 2008 - 2009 - M&O = $75,563,872 (18.909) 2009 - 2010 - M&O = $69,968,652 (18.909) 2010 - 2011 - M&O = $58,070,065 (18.909) SO... looks like the taxes collected every year since 2002 went up(even
  2. On another note, I love XKCD and enjoy logic, but wonder if this is over my head...
  3. Ya, never did see how it was going to generate any sales that people were not going to buy anyway...
  4. Not yet. Reading the helpful info mailers that each of them is sending out. None of them seem to have stood out.
  5. The Brunswick Stew I loved the best was up at Bunkhouse BBQ may it RIP. Hey Smokin - Please, Please, Please, if you are still on here, give us the recipe!! (It did have a secret ingredient "X" )
  6. A PSA as we are looking for a laptop for my son that graduated this year, and I wondered if we were having a sales tax holiday. But it appears we are not due to the budget crunch: From the Ga DOR: At least that means we don't have to wait if we see a good deal on one....
  7. If the Bahama's law/courts/Prison System has more teeth than ours, I hope they give him a trial there and keep him. The trial will be a joke if it's done here.
  8. What we need is a "None of the Above" option where the parties are forced to get new candidates...
  9. It's like there is an invisible wall over Dabbs Bridge Rd... the storms just split up and go north and south and we get squat. We haven't had a good rain for 4 weeks.
  10. You can say that again. It's getting sad. Spend more and tax less... sounds a lot like the democrats in congress...
  11. According to the AJC, the 100K was a bonus that he earned under his existing contract. As long as he was employed by them on June 30th, 2010, he got that money. The rest seems to be a payoff so he won't sue or discuss the internal workings of the Bulldog Org.
  12. HM - I'm confused. What you all upset about?
  13. I wonder if that is risk of breakdown, or risk of getting mis-identified as the previous owner and getting shot at!!
  14. The seats they have now have are pretty uncomfortable if you are big,but I'm not sure I'd want to try standing up. What if there was a major ground delay? Ryan Air Standing room only Besides, I'm 6'2". If I'm standing on one side, I hit the roof. No way can they have luggage bins in that area, so you'd have to check your bag at $50 each. Sounds pretty wacko to me.
  15. It's so hot that I have found out (the hard way) that my seat belt buckle could be used as a branding iron.
  16. PCHS has used that map for years, just ask any student there....
  17. Us too. Haven't had anything other than sprinkles for three weeks. Trees are all losing all the extra leaves they put on while it was so wet. Willow is about to die completely.
  18. LOL, you know, I haven't got a clue. I would guess it's from one of the ballfields down by the tracks. From the publix, the bursts were to the SW of us. The Publix is kinda on the top of hill there, so all except the very lowest bursts clear the trees.
  19. City of Powder Springs is also giving a show for those on that side of the county on Sunday the 4th. When: Sunday, July 4, 2010, 4:00pm - 10:00pm Where: The Powder Springs Town Square 4488 Pineview Drive Powder Springs, GA 30127 [MAP] Cost: Free Tables: Reserved seating available. * 9:30 p.m. Fireworks! 20. Very true, the rate may rise even with the renewal, esp if property values keep dropping. Looking at the Budget - Property taxes for the General fund are shown as $21,789,500. @ 6.65 mil that means that each mill is worth roughly $3,275,000 mil. So about a 1 mil rate increase would have let them maintain the actual taxes collected where they were last year, but the BOC choose to reduce the budget and decrease our taxes instead. However, reduce the income by some additional 3 mils worth and you end up with a budget shortfall of approx $11 million a year. After already reducing the
  21. No problem. The worst questions are those unasked. Of course, you may not get answers either from me either if I don't know. There are three Local Option Sales Taxes currently active. LOST - Initial LOST - From the chart I found, this was either voted in or the BOC started it in 1978 when it was legalized in Georgia. It does not have to be voted on again, or at least not for a long time. All funds go into the general fund and MUST be used for millage rate reduction. ELOST - Education LOST - This one supports capital purchases by the BOE (may include things like remodeling
  22. Just started a HSA plan this year. I took the difference between the PPO and the HSA and put it into the savings account and with the company contribution it covers the deductable and the policy is just about free!! It's just like homeowners insurance, the higher the deductible, the lower the cost. However, this is better because well care is paid pre-deductible. Best yet, if we don't get sick, all that money is still in the account next year, unlike the FSA. If there is a downside, I haven't seen it. I've heard rumors that one side affect of the Health care bill is that HSA
  23. We love to make sausage cheese dip in the slow cooker for parties, but it was a terrible mess, esp if you left it on during the party as the cheese dip level would drop. But now it's just pull the bag out and toss it, rinse the cooker and put it away. (as long as no one rips the bag) My worry was the plastic adding flavor, but haven't tasted a thing.
