  1. OK, now *that* I do have a problem with. If they are going to cause you this much trouble, they should be able to tell you *WHY* they did and *WHAT* the problem was. The SOS office should have included exactly what the problem was on the original letter. Without it, how do you know if it's cleared up now? That's crazy.
  2. Arrrggg. Maybe this should go in the pet peeve thread but the lack of support from ATT for it's customers drives me nuts. Bellsouth had a page you could go to and see all the current outages on the network in your zone and know instantly if there was a problem with their mail server. With ATT, the support pages are worthless and from your story it sounds as if their first tier support is just about as worthless.
  3. That involved passing on Dabbs Bridge Road as I recall didn't it? Has your son recovered from that OK?
  4. I know I'd much rather have those officers investigating items like the park encounters. If the feds are so hot on illegals, let THEM fund it. Not going to happen.
  5. According to the AJC: AJC Article So it appears that it is not "random" it's based on database inconsistencies within the state government. I would think that you should be able to call and ask what the inconsistency was that trigger the letter. The Feds passed the law, however, Ga's current plan is under review.
  6. Mine are 10 years old, (installed spring of 2000) how can I tell what coolant is used?
  7. Just got a another one, somebody for labor commissioner. Not even sure what that office does. <Sigh> Interesting Caller ID - "Unassigned" Privacy director will intercept the ones with no caller ID, but this one made it through. I like the idea of turning off the answering machine, but we have the ATT answering service. Lol, well, yea, I guess I just stuck that label on her out of habit. Or is a Governorship like the Presidency that you are always referred to by the "Gov" title?
  8. A bunch of signs vanished on Dabbs Bridge road the other day... Well kinda vanished, the shredded remains were still there. The County has been mowing up here and anything too close to the road got ate up. Every sign except the cast iron one for DD in front of the Capital are GONE.
  9. Interesting... going to have to print this out and put it on the wall to check with State Farm. Bloody insurance has gone up 200% in 10 years, I hope they give me a break.
  10. Yea, but if I read that correctly, they have closed it and found there are no leaks, so they can leave it if they have to. Or did I misread?
  11. Nice. Just in time too, with hurricane season on us. It will be nice if they can close it when the storms are too close rather than having to let it spill like a few weeks ago. With the oil not moving out of the well like a river, should make closing it with concrete a *lot* easier I would think.
  12. I swear its the worst part of a political season... putting up with all the robot calls!! :angry2: Wish there was a no-call list for political calls. Total waste of time. I'll read the fliers in the mail, but no way am I wasting time listing to those calls. Does anyone actually decide who they are voting for based on these calls? Popo - put this in the Cafe since we all seem get these stupid calls... no matter if care about a race or not.
  13. Another thing for A/C costs is how long it's been since you have cleaned the outside coils. I never knew you were supposed to do that in our first house. We had lived there for around 6 years and during the summer, the A/C was running 20+ hours a day or so to try to keep us at 78 degrees. I went down one summer day and touched the return from the A/C compressor outside to the inside unit(the uninsulated line) and I yanked my hand back, it was HOT!! It should be warm, a little above outside temp, in a properly running system. I shut the A/C off and went outside and disconnected the
  14. I fear we will see more and more issues like this because the govt. is getting more and more into attempting to cross link databases, both of which may have errors which generates a new database with those errors doubled. My wife tried to get our tags a few years back and when she gave the tag office here the check and her Drivers License, they told her she had outstanding tag issues in Fulton and they couldn't take a check from her. We have never lived in Fulton and never had a vehicle in Fulton. I had to drive down there and sign the check myself. It seems the state had atte
  15. I used the Georgia Sect. of State My Voter's Page (MVP) at: Geogia Voter's Information Page You log in with your Name and Birthday, it will bring up your Voters Registration, tell you your current Polling Place, and let you see official copies of the Absentee/Provisional/Challenged ballots for that Polling place. (Republican and Democrat and Special Purpose (you can see the actual SPLOST referendum)) So this will confirm that you are registered as well as showing you official ballots. Cheers!
  16. Seemed to me the humidity was much higher this year compared to last year also. Your A/C is dehumidifying the air as well as cooling it, humid air takes a lot more energy to cool. I have little ponds under both my A/C drains...
  17. COOL!! Thanks, learn something new every day!!
  18. If you see one, keep the eyes open behind it. There is usually a wingman out there just waiting for you to be distracted.
  19. On a serious note, if it's only contact with the metal that causes the issue, it seems that a clear tape, like Scott Magic tape would do as well and be nearly invisible. Somebody at CR was having a bad apple day when they wrote the review.
  20. Had lightning hit a tree in the front yard a few years ago just before Christmas. Never touched the house itself, but it: blew my expensive ethernet switch, an ethernet port on one of our PCs, my audio amp in the shop and magnetized the screen of my daughters PC. Another strike fried my modem back in the days when I had dial up. That lightning is bad stuff.
  21. Yes, Ga law requires that the tax commissioner calculate the total amount of change of the tax base due to reassessments and determine a rollback rate to keep the tax amount revenue neutral. If this rate is exceeded, it is a tax increase and the taxing authority (BOE or BOC) must have public meetings stating so. Ga Code 48-5-32 However, even with the law, since many large landowners were allowed to put their land in "Conservation Covenants" that locked their value at the value assessed when the covenant was invoked, the small rate decrease was not enough to cancel the assessme
  22. From what I see on line, anywhere from $3000 and up. My understanding is that the reason Paulding does it a weekend later than everyone else is we get a big discount since it's not on the "4th" weekend. Not sure who's budget it comes out of.
