I'm expecting mine to go down, but I ran the calculations that the mortgage company uses, and won't see most of the changes until 2012. Also, insurance is often also included in the escrow and it won't be going down. In fact, I looked and our insurance has gone up nearly 200% in 10 years with no claims. I've got to call them and find out what is going on or Caped Crusader may be getting a call from me for a competing bid.

The proposed budgets didn't have a millage increase in them for the County M&O and BOE M&O, but I don't know if they have been officially voted on and accepted yet. The Bond rates may have to be adjusted, I'm not sure if that is automatic or not. I guess I just remember the BOE waiting until after the primary election before springing the Bond Vote on us, so I won't relax until after the primary and we see if any surprise changes to the rates come out.

Ah. Ok. Well, those budgets will be based on the appraisals done next year and I'm hoping that the assessments will have stabilized somewhat by then. I may be engaged in wishful thinking, however. I don't see that the BOE has much of a way out. The majority of the tax base here is housing, which is what is dropping. They only have 1-2 mils or so left before they hit the legal rate limit, which by my calculations with this years tax base would have only generated another million or so of revenue anyway. If the values continue to drop, then they may have to up the rate to the limit

Yes, in a way, but at least their grandstand wasn't an attack on the current BOC. I don't understand it, none of those running are incumbents, why attack a $10,000,000 tax cut by saying it should be $10,500,000? What's the point? David has proven to me that he does want to balance the needs of the county with conservative values. I want someone who will work with him on that.

Only in California would they come up with such a half baked idea: This is wrong in so many ways... Will they take Right to Life ads? Will they take Religious ads? Will they take political ads? Will drivers have any control over what ads are on their plates? How would you like to have a condom ad show up on the license in front of you at red light? Besides, creating a false license plate would be sooooo easy. Anybody else this this is nutz or is it just me? They need to cut spending.

Just spending some time trying to find this "press release" on line. I also try to re-read my posts a lot, in the past I've posted some stupid things by over reacting and posting too quick. Anybody else get this? I can't find it on-line. I hope it's a hoax, or Mr Anavitarte has lost my vote in record time. That press release is one of the most worthless things I've read in a while and since I'm on here a lot, that is saying something. David Austin has cut taxes both years he's been in office, the rate change last year was just trying to build up a little bit of reserve

The proposed budgets are out. They were discussed on here extensively in the last month. BOE BOC Basically, a tax cut at both the BOE ($10+ million cut)and BOC ($3 million cut) with no millage rate increase for M&O for either. Don't know about the bonds, I don't see how they can make the payments without a matching rate increase. Fire tax rate also didn't change.

Let me get the calendar... Pubby and I agree on something. But I will still watch how the county spends it.. don't know I trust them *that* much. -
Well, while values were going up, I was re-assessed every freaking year. If they think I'll be happy with the little 5% drop they gave me last year they will have another appeal coming.
-
Depending on when the home was purchased, this could have happened. The boom days allowed 3% downpayments and other "easy Lending" options that helped dig those holes. Not much you can do about it now but hold on and hope the market recovers.
-
That's the number I heard last also. Building costs have not really dropped all that much. There is still a lot of building going on, just smaller houses.
-
Don't bother. First, realize that this tax appraisal has no relation to what you might really sell it for. Second, they would be glad to raise it to whatever you want, they get more tax money out of you if they do. Third, unless you are planning on selling, it really, really doesn't matter. Forth, don't worry, as soon as we start coming out of this economic recession, they will be pumped up again.

The Budgets that the BOE and Chairman Austin have put out for 2011 do not call for millage rate increases this year. I expected it too, at least to hold the revenue close to the same (no tax increase, but no tax cut either) but it didn't happen. In the case of the BOE, it wouldn't do much good, even going to the legal limit of 20 mils would not make up for the total loss of value. Not sure why David didn't raise it except that it's an election year. Fire tax also remains at 2 mil. The various bond payments on the other had are fixed $$$ amounts, so they may have to auto adjust the

Dang. Went and checked the mail, ours didn't come today, I guess they are sending them out in bunches.

Good point. Selling value has nothing to do with the actual cost of building (or worse, re-building since site cleanup costs will be paid also) Another note is that the assessed value includes the price of the lot, which may be a large part of the drop. (Land prices being so inflated in the last few years, a lot down the street was priced for $50,000 an acre!)

GOP Meet & Greet at White Oak Park - Lots of candidates...
The Sound Guy replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Not to mention that June is a very popular wedding month. Perhaps Sat morning or Sunday afternoon would have been better. -
I'm eagerly awaiting mine. The average drop should be around 17%, that is what the tax base dropped. Would you mind saying what percentage drop did you have?
-
I did it for a 3K loan to cover the excess for our pool and it worked great. I much prefer paying interest to myself.

OK, to focus on the writing and not the person I quote the following from the website under discussion, dated June 20th: <No link as I don't want any of the Popo aiming my way. If they want to add a link, then feel free.> I love the assumption that anyone who says anything against the party leadership's views is automatically a liberal and/or Democrat. Sorry, I refuse to drink the cool aid of either side and will continuously question the party's leadership to make sure it meets *my* standards if it want's my vote and support. I have considered myself a Republican since I

It can also be used to update existing capital items, like replacing patrol cars, radio systems for LEO, adding lights to fields, replacing old maintenance equipment, etc which can actually reduce the manpower needed. I for one would like the SPLOST item to designate items that would reduce long term costs rather than allow shifting of the money to vote getting items after the vote, (See, I got you a new Park!!), but I guess I'm old enough to know I don't get everything I want. -
Does that mean that if the USA Today posts an article, we should never comment on it here? How about the AJC? Sorry, I have to disagree, this is a site for LOCAL discussion of whatever we wish to discuss, be it national news or a local blogger. Being local actually makes is more of a legit topic here, not less. I've been called on the carpet for comments I've posted here in the past and expect to be in the future if people disagree. It's the nature of the business. If the writer under discussion wishes to not be discussed, he should stop publishing his blog on line. Once it's on

Can a ceiling fan be fixed, or is it time for a new one?
The Sound Guy replied to DonBrownJr's topic in RECENT TOPICS
What can I say, 25 Years since my class on Motors at Southern Tech. Ok, the engineer in me is coming though, I had to look it up: ceiling Fan Info If it's one of the expensive Hunter Fans, it might be worth trying to replace it. -

Manually spin it and see if it continues turning on its own. If so, the start capacitor has failed. Home Depot might sell replacements, I saw a big fan part area. -
My wife has a cookbook, it's not Bell, it's the Telephone Pioneers Cookbook. Is that the one you are thinking of? Lots of yummy food in that one!!
