  1. the intent of my post was that if you go looking for a problem, even when one isn't there, you'll create one.
  2. i didn't post in the last thread about his depression. i know more about depression, bi-polar disorder, and schizophrenia than i wish i did. havinf familymembersaffected with these diseases, i don't take them lightly. you know that i lost my sister to mental illness. is it a hard thing to deal with, being mentally ill? yep. you bet your ass it is. is it the kind of disease where you can take a magic pill and remain fully functional? rarely. if ever. would i recommend that anyone suffering enough to attempt suicide be trusted with a high pressure job which involves making judgment calls on a
  3. where's all the sympathy and the "his depression made him do all of this" babble? two weeks ago, the man was a saint who was simply suffering from a terrible disease. why are his bizarre actions no longer being written off as symptoms that should be overlooked and have no bearing on his ability to rule the world? why can't he still stand on the merit of all the wonderful deeds he's accomplished for our county and state and continue to hold office? attempting to off yourself can be swept under the rug, but having sex outside of your marriage can't? /s

  9. finally got around to watching the dvr'd episode of criminal minds with the return of the reaper. (2nd return i guess) had an emotional breakdown near the end. i'm usually pretty good at maintaining my composure.
  10. or how about, "he made threatening/advancing moves upon said poilce officer who had no choice but to draw his weapon and fire in self defense."
  11. might wanna put yer fingers in yer ears too.
  12. hush!!!! i want in on the razor action.
  13. i value the tips of my thumbs. straight line? wouldn't the bottom of the cabinets already be in a straight line? just run the roto zip back and forth along the bottome board, whilst applying light pressure. y'all do it wrong!
  14. joe. it goes so much deeper than just charity. i am thankful, though, that the article on charity is what got the discussion going. stigma plays a huge role in society with determining where the bar will be set. it's shifted quite a bit over the past few generations. both back and forth. but has always bee, and will always be a useful tool for maintaining balace.
  15. how do we teach out children to aspire to more than a life of welfare, drugs, multiple pregnancies with multiple partners, minimum wage jobs, duplexes, and unreliable if not public transportation...........without casting a negative light upon thsoe things and the people who have made them their lifestyle? if you teach your children that it's not wrong or bad to participate in any of the above behaviours, how do you prevent them from participating themselves? there has to be a fine line. taking the attitude that you are better than that lifestyle would hopefully deterr you from living i
  16. it's a cutting/grinding/sanding tool. more versitile than a dremel. oh dear god, what were you planning on using to shave the cabinets?
  17. while i choose not to make judgements about the authors orfices and what he/she chooses to plug them with........ i get that this article may have lost you. however, can you find no need at all to partake in any sort of discussion surrounding the ideas that have come from the article?
  18. it's raised several interesting questions, for me personally. i think it's a great topic and merits discussion. sadly, it seems the art of discussion has deteriorated into arguement and browbeating instead of pro-con/open ended questions and answers. someone reads half the discussion, gets offended, gets heated, makes assumptions, and then puts words into other peoples mouths....instead of asking for clarification or adding to the discussion. but i think we covered that already. so anyway. stigmas. pros and cons.different scenarios with different outcomes. i can think of several. c
  19. i can't say what i got mine, he's on here.
  20. agreed, but for the most part, our society operates on a 6th grade reading level. i don't trust most folks to discren between admonishing an act, and belittling a person. i see/hear it everyday. and while the intent might not be harmful, the portrayal is. doesn't really matter how you meant it, does it? matters how folks took it. the amount of stigma placed on mental illness today ahs lessened from generations past. and there's a hell of a lot more diagnosis of a hell of a lot more mental diseases now days. maybe stigma can serve it's place. then again, i hear people call other peo
