  1. i did read the article. and i wonder how stigma would apply to society in the terms of things other than charity. and whether it borders on bigotry, and can lead to discrimintaiotn. should the stigma against crack heads keep s reformed user form getting a job? what about tattoos? teen pregnancy? i guess what i'm saying is that while it's important to teach our children values, so they don't grow up and partake of ways that we don't see fit, do we have to stigmatize folks to do that? can we discourage/disapprove of behaviours, without leading to judgement being passed onto the individuals?
  2. ugh. never. don't leave me a voice mail. just text me, please.
  3. where the hell did i leave my striped socks???
  4. i really need someone to explain to me how the ACLU can sue the government to take away your right to your god or your christmas traditions. will they outlaw your christmas trees in your home? your decorations on your lawn? your right to read the christmas story from your bible as your children gather round your hearth? will they stop you from praying, listening to carols, or going to midnight mass? how can the government take away your god, christmas, or christianity? it's my belief that christmas cards should be sent with the intent of spreading love, joy, and cheer. using them as
  5. in.my.paaaaaaaannnnnnts. no, seriously.
  6. seems to me that this isn't a religious thing at all. it's an equality thing. telling gays that they can't marry puts them in a class of 'lesser citizenship'. women won the right to vote, just as african americans did. i view the right to marry much the same way. marriage, civil union, call it what you like. i got married by a judge. no religious words were spoken. yet, i was issued a 'marriage certificate'. i'm not aware of any civil union certificates being available. and when i fill out forms, i have the options to check single, married, divorced, widowed, etc. there's never a box for civi
  7. yes. but sadly, playboy wasn't interested.
  8. i guess the offensive part comes from absolutely no thought being given at all. i know my parents like to go to dinner, i know where they like to eat. i give a card to one of their favorite restaurants. my husband knows that i love books. there fore, a card to barnes and noble is a safe gift. if my husband gave me cash, i'd be pissed. i have an atm card, i can get my own damn cash. the kids gift cards are stocking stuffers. they get things, wrapped things, in addition to gift cards.
  9. yes, cash works. but is slightly offensive, in my book. and/or not appropriate for young children. my kids are 11, 15 and 20. they're getting gift cards to walmart and itunes. pretty sure they'll be spent within a week of christmas. i'll send my mother a gift card to outback or texas road house so that she and her husband can go have a dinner date. they need a night out and will surely enjoy it.
  10. clark thinks gift cards aren't a good idea because 1 out of 10 of them are never redeemed. so? he has an issue with giving your own cash to buy a card that someone might not use. so? doesn't the responsibility to spend the card lie on the person receiving the card? aren't you supposed to give a gift from the heart and not be concerned what happens with it once it's given? how many sweaters, toasters, candle gift sets get returned each year. i'm betting the number is higher than 1 in 10. i'd rather give a gift card and know that my friend/family member used it to buy what they wanted, inste
  11. peanut butter & jelly. bologna & cheese. peas and carrots. or did you mean which members of our society should be eligible to marry legally?
  12. not just a pool, but a hot tub too. nd a new screened in back porch that runs the length of the back of the new house. there's also two campers and a gilligan's island style boat. not to mention the piles of the old burned down house that never got cleaned up or carted away either. and yes, their kids play out there, unsupervised. i've called the marshall's office. according to the person i spoke with, i have to go get the paperwork from them, and fill out the complaint myself. i also have to figure out which codes are in violation. the marshall's won't even come out to investigate until
  13. haha. i found it the first night we met. remember that? i was soooo embarrassed.
  14. we got the hole dug. now to fill it in............
  15. fine. i went and bought a prelit tree. white lights. put red bows and white flowers on it. now there's a place to put the presents.
  16. the ones that are sung only on christmas. like the actual day. not a freakin month before. christmas is one day. one.
  17. i own three ornaments. and yet my kid is insisting that we haul a tree into the livingroom this year. a tree, in the house. i am not thrilled.
  18. i don't understand the concept behind the statement "work with the couple". work with what? what work is the mortgage company obligated to do? when you sign your mortgage papers, you agree to pay x amount, monthly, until the balance of the loan is repaid. if you default on your loan or "get behind" on your payments, you should know what's gonna happen. you signed the papers that clearly stated what the ramifications would be. this judge is full of crap. and for those of you who don't have a problem with this.....guess what caused the housing market to tank????? folks not paying
  19. right? oh, and i found even better jammie pants when i went back to kohl's just now. round two just about killed me, and now i hafta go to work dragging crap out of the work shop downstairs and hauling it over to storage. someone better be ready to take me out tonight.

  21. got to walmart at 3am, family had been in line since 9pm. got the laptop and a few other things. luckily i checked out well before 5, and h checked out at the layaway counter for the laptop, so we just had to navigate ourselves out the front door. kohl's was great. got there at 5:45 and was out the door at 6:15. the line was looooooooong, but moved quickly. target was ok. missed out on the fleece jammie pants since we didn't get there til 6:25 or so. kmart sucked. had an altercation in the parkinglot and ended up not buying anything. biglots had what i wanted to get at knart, with no lines
