I've got kids. We've been sneezed on by a Spanish speaking kid while his mother just looked on smiling. I mean, germs are only English?...I don't think so. I'm uncomfortable with paying a translator to accompany these people to register for school. I mean, if they don't know it's rude to sneeze on someone then what can our tax dollars contribute?

I was in Calhoun lately and felt like a lone gringo. My opinion is that if someone is a citizen, then welcome. Learn English. It can't be as hard as crossing the Rio Grande while pregnant, can it? Good luck girl. Pitocin and I aren't friends. The first time ended after 15 hours and a horrible forceps delivery. The second time ended in a c-section (only one) after 14 hours. I much prefer the 2 births that started naturally, and by the way were only 7 and 8 hours. Just remember to push em out, shove em out...way out. June babies are the best!

Nope, it isn't. Sometimes, my daughter's boyfriend's daughter is in my home and she does things that make me wonder how to handle. Nothing bad, just things that, if my own children did them, would be cause for a harsh talking to or a quick response. He shouldn't have spanked your child. I don't think he was wrong to pull him out of the lake though. He should have just waited for you and your husband to deal with punishing your own child, but he was completely in the right to protect his own child. Having said all that, I must say that as a mom of 2 girls and 2 boys it gets my ire up to hear people say things like "boys will be boys" and "he's all boy". Why a different standard of appropriate behavior? All children, boys and girls alike need to be taught how to behave.

I used to be. Oldest graduated in 08 and #2 daughter will be starting high school this fall, but she is not continuing with band after this year. I am looking forward to the football games again though!
