My husband took online classes at Troy and graduated 2 years ago. He had a positive experience there, but I don't know what it is like nowadays. Good luck!

Mmmmm.... Peach shake from CFA! I'm a diabetic and it is well worth the high blood sugar (once in a while)!

I love this website and I have used it many times: http://www.handicappedfraud.org/

No one's intent was to cause any trouble for anyone. The concern was solely for the welfare of the horse. Headbanger, as a horse lover/owner, wouldn't you be concerned if you saw a horse on someone's property where the homeowner had alleged former animal cruelty charges against them? Wouldn't you be concerned for the safety of the horse? No one knew anything about the horse or how it was being treated. That is why I called Paulding County - to go check on the horse. I called on Friday, 4/15. The woman I spoke with said that animal control had actually been out to the house twice already

Aww, thanks! I wish I could go and remove the horse myself! I am worried about the animal in the storm, too.
-
I hope that the horse is okay and that there is a happy ending, too!

Update... Just after I typed my previous post, I spoke to Leslie from the Marshall's office again. She said that animal control was out to check on the horse this past weekend and yesterday. Apparently the horse is being fed, given water, and is in good health. The story is that the horse belongs to a family member or friend of the homeowner and the homeowner is just letting the horse stay there. The zoning department will be notifying the homeowner that he is breaking the county ordinance and that the horse must be removed from the premises. She didn't know how long that might take,

Just to update everyone ... I talked to my boss who has owned horses for 25 years. She gave me the same suggestions that you all did - Equine Rescue, animal control well-check, Marshall's office, etc. She thought you might be able to get the horse removed faster by going through zoning than by animal cruelty. I called the Marshall's office this afternoon and spoke to a very nice lady. As soon as I gave her the address, she knew exactly whose house it was. She said that she would send animal control out to check on the welfare of the horse. She also said that she would personally talk

It is extremely touristy, traffic is jam-packed, and it's all but a ghost-land after Labor Day. Not a huge fan.

WOW. That is absolutely amazing. I am an animal lover, and I can't believe this man is allowed to get away with this! I have noticed some dogs roaming around his yard, as well as the horse. There is clearly not a stable/barn and NO area for the horse to graze. I tried to snap pictures this morning and afternoon but was not able to get a good shot because of traffic and the position of the horse. My heart breaks for those poor animals that don't deserve to live like that - as well as those that have died. I plan to call animal control and at least talk to them about it. And based on krw

Has anyone noticed the large, brown horse standing in the front yard of the house on Cedarcrest Road (the one with the PCSO sign in front of it, across from Bentwater)? The horse has been there since Saturday. This weekend I noticed it grazing on the front lawn, and today there was someone sitting on the horse and looking in the front window. It is bizarre. I know this house/homeowner has been discussed before on PCom. Any thoughts on what is going on??? Should this be reported to the Sheriff's office?

I hate the words "nook" and "creek". I don't know what it is about them, they just bother me!

Yeah! So glad that she is doing better and going home!

"Crossroads Public Library" on Harmony Grove Church Road in Dallas will be opening in March 2011. It was originally slated for February, but it must have gotten pushed back. I can't wait for it to open! http://www.wgrl.net/Branches/Crossroads/CRPL.htm

I have been having anxiety attacks for years. The doctor something was neurologically wrong with me so he sent me to a neurologist, who was the one to diagnose me with anxiety. I get the attacks all the time - in stressful conditions and also when stressed about nothing at all. My heart races, I get hot, sweaty, jittery, nervous, dizzy to the point that I need to sit down and grab something, nauseous, and can't pay attention. It's horrible having that happen in a social situation, whether it be at work or with friends. It affected my life so much that I can't commit to plans ahead of time

We had the Golden Lab (dog) tag until we were charged the additional $35 to renew. Instead, we refused to pay and switched to a plain old regular tag after neither the county nor the state could explain to us where the extra $35 was going towards. I'm sure it was going to the state and not to benefit the animals...

Going out to the Crossroads hamburger joint was my big adventure out yesterday. I was tempted to play on the playground myself!

"Thundersnow" is supposed to be really rare! A "weather nerd" friend of mine said that the snow acts as a noise suppressant and so when you would normally hear thunder for many miles, during "thundersnow" you only hear it for 1-3 miles. Pretty cool, huh?!
-
My golden retriever LOVES the powdery snow, where she runs and skids like a maniac. However, she refuses to step foot on the icy snow. Even after my husband stomped down a path into the yard for her. Instead, she is "doing her business" on the concrete patio under the deck. Oh well, at least it's not in the house!

Anyone else expected to drive to work in the am?

My boss called me at 7pm tonight (before a single snowflake fell) and told me to take the day off tomorrow. They are putting up all of the business-critical people (the ones who have a client deadline of tomorrow) in the hotel in front of our building. I'm going to guess they are giving the hotel bar a run for their money.
