I roll my eyes as people who say they have "the flu" and then you see them out grocery shopping or whatnot. That is not the flu. TRUST ME. The true flu is so bad you can't even move. It is the closest I've ever felt to wanting to die. I was really that miserable. I didn't know what day it was, where I was, I didn't eat, I couldn't pick up my head, I had horrible chills, fever, and more. I pray and pray and pray that I never get that sick again! Get the flu shot, people! Please! Otherwise, stay away from me!

I am a Type I diabetic and am also immuno-suppressed from medication, so I get the flu shot every year and make my family get them, too. I got mine at Publix yesterday and I hardly even have soreness. Soreness is usually customary since the shot goes into your muscle. The flu shot does not guarantee that you don't get the flu, as the strains do have to match up for it to work completely. But I do tend to think that if the strains don't align that you at least get some protection. In other words, you won't get the flu in its full effect. The one and only year I did skip the shot, I ended

Thank you for your comments. Fishnthec, I notice myself doing the same things as you - clenching whenever I am thinking about something, when I am stressed, etc. I bought the Dentek guard last night and did the "boil it in water, form it to your teeth" thing, but I think it ended up being too large for my mouth. I have small teeth, so I will have to trim it a little bit before I can wear it comfortably. It's not bothering me as much today, so maybe the little bit that I wore it for last night (1-2 hrs) actually helped? I hope so!

Ouch! That sounds so painful! It makes my jaw hurt just thinking about it! I bought a mouth guard tonight, and I honestly cannot see how it is going to do any good, just by putting it in my mouth and testing it for a few minutes. But I will give it a try since I am in so much pain and it only seems to be getting worse. Oh goodness I hope my jaw doesn't lock up. I go back to work next Tues (YEAH!) for a 3-month temp assignment after being unemployed for the past 5 months and I really don't want to walk in there gripping my locked up jaw!

UPDATE...Prayers needed for a new born.....

Saying heartfelt prayers for this little baby. -
Thank you for all of the suggestions. My jaw has not locked up. At least not yet. I stopped into my dentist's office this morning, and they said to ice my jaw, use ibuprofen, and buy an OTC night guard to prevent grinding/clenching. Then, if that doesn't work, make an appointment to come in. (My regular 6-month cleaning isn't until 12/5, and she said not to wait that long.) I stopped into CVS and saw that the night guards range from $25 to $50. Money that I really was hoping not to spend, but I guess it will if it works. One brand had a 30-day money-back guarantee, and I think the othe

Thank you - that helped me decide to definitely call my dentist tomorrow morning. I had kind of talked myself out of it, thinking "what is she going to be able to do since I already know I have it", but it sounds like maybe there really is benefit to it. It has been hurting a lot, but I don't really know if it considered a normal or bad case of it. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but this is really bothering me.

WOW. That is kind of what I am afraid of. It sounds like a very unpleasant surgery, not that any surgery is actually pleasant. I can't even imagine what having a wired shut mouth would be like. Ugh. Thanks for the info!

I've been having TMJ pain for the past 2 weeks or so. I'm sure it's from clenching my jaw, but I'm also kind of worried because both my father and sister have rheumatoid arthritis so it runs in the family. Has anyone had TMJ? Did you see a doctor/dentist? How did you treat it? Did you just use ibuprofen/ice/heat/mouth guard? Did it go away? Or did you have surgery? Thanks for any advice!

Bridge Over Troubled Water: Simon & Garfunkel Video

This song is so special to me because I remember my grandfather singing this and playing it on the piano when I was a very little girl. He passed away when I was 9 and he was so special to me. Beautiful song, too! -
Poor, sweet doggie. RIP, little Patty Cakes. So sorry for your loss, LPPT.

My sister bought something for her daughter at Babies 'R Us called a "potty watch" (see link below). It is really cool. You can set the timer for however often you like, and it plays music which tells the child when it is time to go to the potty. Her daughter loved it, and it was only $10. She also used a reward system by buying a whole bunch of things at the dollar store - stickers, coloring books, etc. In the end, the child will be ready when he is ready, but I don't think it hurts to encourage him along. Good luck! http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4033754

I don't have children, but I watch the same bus blow the stop sign and fly through the cul-de-sac across the street from me all the time. Ridiculous. And this one is not a sub, although that shouldn't even matter. A stop sign is a stop sign. Once I catch the bus number, I am going to report it. Someone needs to hold these bus drivers accountable. I understand that they have a very difficult job, but they need to practice safety. Especially when there are children on board.

We have American Disposal and they are great for us! I know a few in my community had billing issues, but they were easily corrected.

What is ironic is that the meth makers are going to get whatever they need anyway.

Wow, thank you for all of the responses! I am not surprised that they are all positive reviews. It seemed like a really nice place, just judging by the 2 days that we were there. It was only 2 days, but we made the most of our time there. We even had a Realtor show us around. We did learn that Charlotte (Mecklenburg County) does have high taxes, so we are leaning towards the Lancaster County, SC or Union County, NC areas, where the taxes are low. There were big changes to my DH's job this week. Luckily, his job was spared, at least for right now, but a lot of others weren't so lucky. S

My DH has received a tempting job offer in the Charlotte, NC / Fort Mill, SC area. We went up there for the interview and to drive around and it seemed to be very nice. We drove through Ballantyne, Fort Mill, Indian Land, Charlotte, Waxhaw, and a few other nearby areas. I was wondering if any PCommers are familiar with or have any opinions about the area? Recommended areas? Areas to avoid? Pros/Cons to the area? I know it is slightly more expensive to live there. I've heard that the traffic is much better. Any honest feedback would definitely be appreciated! This would be a really bi

My sister let my niece gnaw on frozen waffles - the "waffle" pockets captured some of the drool! I've also heard frozen microwavable pretzels help the gums. Watch out for the baby running temps, too. Poor thing! It must hurt so much!

Did you stand in line or pre-order?
Christine0402 replied to GeorgiaTornado's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I pre-ordered on Sun 10/9 at 1am, but it said it was going to ship in 21-28 days!!! I cannot possibly wait that long - my 3G is almost 4 years old and barely breathing - so I went to the Acworth store on 41 by Target and bought one. Actually, my DH and I both did. There was NO line when we got there (11:30am) and they had plenty in stock. It was starting to get a little busy by the time we left, but we really didn't have a wait at all. Just a warning though - if you preorder and then decide to purchase at the store instead, you can't cancel your preorder. You will have to pay for both an -

Thank you all for the information. I went ahead and scheduled the appointment to have them fix the tiny crack. It is not directly in the line of sight and I think it is going to be okay. I really appreciate your opinions!

My DH has a very small crack in his windshield that we need to get repaired. Our auto insurance company recommended that we have Safelite to come out to repair it and said that they will do it at no cost to us. I was wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences using Safelite? The crack is smaller than a dime and a little below the driver's eye level in the car. There is no hole from what we can tell, just a crack. Free sounds good to me even if it isn't perfect, but I don't want to risk it ending up worse. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

I am a huge fan of the show. I liked the idea in the beginning of Jillian and Wendy joining, but now, notsomuch. I REALLY don't like the fact that Jillian has taken over as the front-and-center person, doing a lot of what Travis used to do - Leading into commercials, keeping the time, setting up new topics and guests, etc. This is not her show, as much as she tries to make it be. The core team is Dr. Ordon, Dr. Sears (love him!), Dr. Lisa, and Dr. Travis. In my opinion, then comes Dr. Walsh. Then comes Jillian, the sidekick. She is the only one on the show without a medical degree. She
