  1. Off topic, but if a plane went down at the airport or in the woods nearby, the County does not have the equipment to handle it. Hazmat, ladder trucks, etc. would have to be called in from other counties..
  2. I am morally against the death penalty and have other issues with it as well. In my opinion, justice and ultimately a verdict is almost solely determined on the amount of money that can be spent in pursuit of it. Therefore, there are probably many innocent people sitting on death row and may need a lifetime to prove their innocence. I will probably never be selected for jury duty because of my convictions. So be it.
  3. There were maybe 2-3 Parenting mags in the sick area. I wouldn't get those as I was in the other section. Swimmers ear is not infectious, sure not going to go to the DR. to pic up germs..
  4. My thoughts exactly. I'll leave it up to a higher power to meet out justice and pray for his soul...
  5. I had even put on the letter that customer perception does matter in looking at the waiting room and it would not matter if they had the best DR's in the world no one beleive it.... Yes I know times are tough, but geesh, a paint job and a few "new" used chairs would do wonders for the place. The way a place looks and feels says a lot about a DR and how he/she views the patient. I am fortunate that my child is pretty healthy and we have not been to the DR. more than once or twice a year after the 1st year of his life and we had not been there in almost a year. What a difference...
  6. My son developed swimmer's ear and home remedies and pain relievers were not working so I called the pediatrician's office when they opened and got a 10:15 appointment. I sat in the waiting room for 1 hour 20 minutes looking at the peeling wallpaper and paint, chips in wall, chairs falling apart, torn up columns because there was nothing to look at other than webmd magazines, advertisement brochures for the bible story and health books and spanish language magazines. At 11:35 or so I was taken back to a room at the very back. By this point my son's pain reliever is wearing off and 30 minutes g
  7. Glas to see something other than another thrift store although I do like the thrift stores..
  8. I can personally vouch that the cupcakes with shaved coconut on top are fantastic...
  9. I only wish the Eighth Circle from Dante's Inferno was real!
  10. This is what we have seen from having a member of the household having worked for a big 4 for a number years-- Manly types of both sexes do not fair well.... Lots of women and girly men..
  11. HE@$ NO!!! I was out doing errands in Hiram Friday and wanted to go to Chick fil A and they were unbeknownst to me having cow day. We got the last parking spot and went in, saw there were no seats and left. This was about 12:30. We hit one more store in Dallas and came back around 1:15, still no seating available and ended up going thru the drive thru. ARGH!!! After going to 4 stores we still didn't find what we were looking for-- a Dinoco Blue Lightning McQueen.. Not a fun day!
  12. Guess what? Paulding citizens have funded the airport to the tune of several million dollars, so far and more to come. It will take a long time for Paulding County citizens to be reimbursed even factoring in all direct, indirect and imputed income streams. Just an FYI-- most GAA airports do good to breakeven selling fuel, hangar leases, etc. Most money derived from airports is through indirect and imputed means such as increases in property taxes on adjacent props due to commercialization, increased in residential property tax base due to job growth and ad valorem taxes paid on airplanes,
  13. I think that since the site is owned by the CoA it will continue to be in the running for a while. Ultimately, I think Barrow County or McCollum would win out over Paulding. A 2nd airport really needs to be on the north or east of the city, JMO of course.
  14. I noticed last year that some of the other Goodwill's were pricing textbooks at around $5.00 while the Hiram store continued to price most textbooks at 2.50 until recently. Thanks to Goodwill, I am stocked up on plenty of literature books, classics, math and science books for next to nothing.
  15. Thanks for the link. I took a quick look at pricing of books and they running from a low of around .50 up depending on the book. I have seen workers pulling books off shelves. I guess they have to have multiples avenues for offloading everything that comes in. I know lots of people of all socioeconomic classes that shop at goodwill. While I could pay retail prices for many things, I choose not to support Corporate Greed, child and slave labor, etc. and buy second hand as much as possible.
  16. I see people in the book section of Goodwill all the time looking for books to resell on amazon.com, etc. Goodwill prices items like china, etc. competively vs. what Replacements would charge. A lot of times on the china, they will have a replacements print out with the set. I have no problem with people buying things at Goodwill and reselling. For big ticket items it looks like they do research the value on items but for small ticket items they receive in high volume such as clothing, books, etc. the cost vs. the benefit is likely to prohibitive.
  17. America has become a fascist nation and they know it. Most of our politicians are nothing but corporate america's whores. Voting these days is almost like chosing your rapist.
  18. Another state but developer had nearly completed one or two homes when the lawsuit concerning buffer was settled with neighbors behind infill neighborhood and they did have to tear them down. These were 200K+ over a decade ago.
  19. I found 14 1 ounce silver Franklin mint "Corvette of the Year" ingots for $199 at the Goodwill in Hiram. Worked out to $14 an ounce when silver was $24 an ounce now its over $35 an ounce.
  20. Here's one good disection of the NFP data from Karl Dennigner: "What's even worse is that both the workweek and hourly earnings decreased. That is, while prices go up on commodities, including food and energy, your earnings are going down not only in inflation-adjusted terms but also in nominal terms! That's just plain old-fashioned bad. What's worse is that the population increased by 176,000 but the household survey says that only 101,000 jobs were added. That is, 75,000 fewer people were working when one adjusts for population change. This is what I have repeatedly pounded
  21. This is just transitory folks.. move along..
  22. Knee jerk political pandering.
  23. Look at the type of cars they are driving. Do they really need a 25-30K Explorer, when a Focus would do? If they need a vehicle fine, but explain to me the necessity of vehicle that costs twice as much and uses more gas.
  24. I could just tell she was a trend setter of a duck! I guess one of the other ducks will be getting a tatoo soon.
  25. We need to have the same laws on illegal immigrants and enforcement at the borders that Mexico has on its southern border and tell them to STFU!!! Their laws are much more stringent than Arizona ever thought to be!!
