I lost my job a while back and my household has cut way back on its expenditures, I expect the County to do so to, even if it means layoffs. I can think off a good 100K plus in duplication over at Paulding County right now.... I really would like to know what the diference is between the IBA and the Economic Development Inc. that was recently created in this County. The new entity was sold as a way top avoid confusion (between IBA and Chamber)for entities interested in relocating. So we are paying big bucks, for Chamber, IBA and Economic Development...

The use of eminent domain is usually what the public part of a public private partnership entails...
-
or maybe they didn't think it would be right to use eminent domain to take other people's land for the road? I'm glad Carroll County did the right thing for their citizens.

Property Tax Assessments are here!

Ours is down another $20K+ but my taxes are still over 2K a year and for what? Don't use the schools, pay extra for garbage... For those comsidering bailing- research the Mortgage Debt Forgiveness Act, it looks you may be to avoid federal tax liability if your house is foreclosed on prior to Jan 1, 2013 if I'm reading it correctly. Might have to bail now, with the backlog to make sure you meet the deadline.. -

Cut out events such as Fireworks-- $25-50K Cut down on payments to entities such as IBA ($200+ a year) More furlough days for employees, no employee raises (when was the last time you had one) Explain to me some of the departments have 30-40K vehicles like Explorers that I see employees driving around in? Require every dept to cut off whatever % to make the shortfall!!! -
Anyone bother to read the FL ACLU site to see why they had a problem with this? www.aclufl.org/news_events From the news release: “In 2003, a Federal court determined that forcing those applying for temporary welfare assistance to submit their bodily fluids for a government search violated their Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable searches. “Surely the governor knew this, and the ACLU testified in the legislature that the bill was a significant and unnecessary invasion of privacy. The new law rests on an ugly stereotype that was disproven by the State’s own ear

Well if the proposed toll road bypass comes to fruition the Atlanta City property on the West end of the County would be a good site-- within a few miles of the proposed road. Maybe I'll be able to sell this house!!! Most likely Dobbins will end being the 2nd airport.. -
It was around 3.70 in Alabama last weekend and was around the same price this weekend over there. We are getting ripped off in GA....

Paulding to be camera ready, look out Hollywood

At this point, I'm open to anything to get some jobs in this county. Maybe they could film porn movies at the studio? It's a billion dollar industry and it employs plenty of people besides the "actors and actresses". -
My husband just called and said that his brother's house in B'ham had a tree go thru part of their house where the bedrooms are and it looked like a tornado had gone throught the area. They have a 1 year old and the sister in law is pregnant and due in September. This is really could not have come at a worse time.

It's unfortunate that some people think the rules don't apply and ruin it for everyone. We went last year and the 2 and under was chaos with parents and older siblings picking up most of the eggs and leaving little for the 2 and under to actually pick up. Its a sad commentary on society when people are so selfish as to not even follow the rules on something as mundane as a easter egg hunt.

We went last year and vowed to never go back. Too much of a cluster f*#!....

I think they need to spend some money to give access to the property on the west sdie of the county that taxpayers voted to buy--- thousands of acres that could be developed into a fabulous state park that would bring in visitors to the area..... -
Dang. I just checked my mail on no Arbitron mailer. I've got them before with the $1 in them. Too bad- I had a meaningful purchase in mind with it-- a powerball ticket. LOL!!

The only thing I could think of was maybe a bear ran across the road???

Surepip- Your situation is an unfortunate one. I hope there is resolution to the issue soon for your family.

I wondered that too? I saw a white truck swerve hard to the left into the medium, a green van swerve a little bit and someone run into the woods there were several cars pulling over and people standing on the side of the road on their phones.
