  1. First of all we need to clarify "audit". The city does have an audit every year and it is simply a review of the previous year. The "forensic audit" that was called for by Kathy Bookout several months ago was approved and begun but never completed. Her motion was that nothing could be done before the results of the audit came in, was rescinded based on a motion by Pep Rollins because the city had run out of money in the general fund and had to go into the city's reserve to pay the bills for the balance of the 2011-2012 fiscal year. There was a short fall of $600,000. Now they are operati
  2. Maybe that is part of the problem. How many council meetings have you attended lately. You get on here making comments and not knowing what is actually happening. Maybe if you atternded the meetings, you might put a different spin on your comments instead of just sitting down with her highness and getting a snow job As far as asking people to take on tasks quicfkly, the other council members are not new to this situation. At least 3 of them will be up for reelection in 2013 and maybe that should be the time that the people of Hiram take a real good look at who is running this city and
  3. Yes, but her reason may have been to stop the requested audit and the public will never know what is trying to be hidden. Looks kind of fishy that council voted on and approved an audit going back to 2008. This procedure was being pursued by Glen Stinson and Kathy Bookout. Now Glen is gone, can 1 council person push to get this audit completed or will she be pressured into giving up on the process. I think some people have some things to answer for but her new BFF the mayor seems to be stalling as much as possible not to have this happen. Does anyone else think this whole process smells.
  4. You are absolutely right "strawman". Ms. Devey is just another council person (but looks like she still needs to be convinced of that) since the new city manager type government was approved. The good ole boy network is still alive and well in Hiram as long as the former mayor keeps pulling the strings.
  5. Well it seems like you really got your share of the ole blowing smoke job. People in Hiram would be wise to start attending city council meetings and see what is really going on. Makes me wonder why they got an attorney from Decature - not even Paulding County. When the city attorney tells council members that they are not doing things legally, what alternatve do they have but to fire the messenger.
  6. Perhaps this has something to do with Mr. Stinson and another council member trying to get an audit done on the city's expenditures. Maybe the real news would be who is trying to stop it and why.
  7. There are a group of older ladies that meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at the book store in Hiram to do tai chi. It's a low impact exercise that helps with your balance and flexibility. They meet at 7:00 pm and there is no charge. I'm sure they would welcome you to the group if you would like to give it a try. You can practice this at home in between meetings and I'm sure if it goes over well, they may start to meet more frequently.
  8. The only reason that I haven't posted much was that I hadn't before seen such garbage passed around as truth before. I also posted a good review for the new Cafe 4:13 and once again I have nothing to do with that business. I am hoping people will support the local businesses as I try to do. Since this site just seems to be people with nothing better to do than spread rumors and try to run other peoples businesses, I think I can find better things to do with my time and won't continue to waste it on here.
  9. I have no interest in either business. The only business I have is that people know the TRUTH!!!!!
  10. I had chicken salad on a croissant, delicious. They also have ham and cheese wraps, turkey and cheese wraps, soup, salads, ice tea and flavored ice tea. You can also order a pot of tea. Their cupcakes are to die for. They have one that is an almond joy cupcake with coconut. Death by chocolate cupcake, chocolate mocha, raspberry truffle, pound cake with buttercream icing. Sounding like a commercial here but was really good.
  11. If you're looking for a new place to go, there's a new tearoom in old downtown Hiram. Just had lunch there and it was delicious and didn't break the bank. Good food, good ambience. Nice to have a new place like this in downtown Hiram. It's called Teacups & Cupcakes.
  12. I just heard there's going to be a big sidewalk sale in downtown Hiram Saturday. Don't know if that's anything like what you're looking for. Just check with one of the businesses down there and get more info.
  13. Was in downtown Hiram Friday night and had a great time. The restaurant there is fabulous and the stores are all staying open late on Fridays. Visited both antique stores and the book store. Looking forward to doing this again.
  14. Someone needs to set the record straight on what happened with The Coffee House. I know both parties involved and know that the information being given about this is not true. 1. The rent has not been increased $600 in fact it has not been increased at all. 2. In March of 2010 the coffee house unilaterally made the decision to start paying over a third less rent than what it was supposed to be. The landlord could have taken action at that time but chose not to, trying to be sympathic and knowing that a lot of businesses are struggling, he let it slide thinking if the coffee
