All true...but still... If you aren't gullible and you look at multiple sites, there is GOOD information available online. I collect a few antiques here and there. Sometimes I come across something I think might be a "find," but I don't know for sure. If I pick it up for a couple of bucks at an estate sale, I'm willing to take the risk. I can sell something nice back to someone else I paid $2 for, and learn from the research. Sometimes, stuff is just given to us, and I go online to research. I LOVE this research part of all of it. Case in point: My husband's landlady in NC

My bad, then. Apologies.

Then howsabout you lay off of me? I didn't mention religion, race, or Bubba and Fred. I expressed an opinion, which I am comfortable with and entitled to. I said I agree--they should recognize his contribution to their cause with compensation. But I believe his lawsuit is a publicity stunt. And it seems to be garnering him plenty of publicity. Most of it is pretty negative. Verbal contracts aren't impossible to enforce, but they aren't easy to, either. Thanks.

I also agree he did do much for that family. Without an advocate, that whole episode very well might have been buried, and the APD would have gotten away with murder. So, we agree on that. And, I think it's reasonable for them to compensate him. But I think his lawsuit is cr@p, and I hope it receives a cr@ppy reception in court. They should compensate him. But I don't think the $$$ is why he is doing this. He has a history, and it speaks VOLUMES about his motivations.

And I didn't draw a legal conclusion, did I? I think the guy is an opportunistic slimeball. But you are correct--this will be for the courts to decide, not the court of pcom. That doesn't preclude the formation of opinion in the pcom or any other public opinion court.

Well, DURH!! Maybe try the link I provided? ^^

You mean people lie online!?!?!

There is a link to an interview with the good reverend at the end of the article. And there are comments which, oh wait? Did I say be sure to read the comments? Your observation skills could use some honing.

He has publicly called it a "tithe." A tithe is a voluntary 10% payment, and NOT a matter of contractual obligation. Tithing is a biblical obligation, not a legal one.

****SIGH**** Google Don't skip the comments.

USAA is great, but not everyone can get it. We recently changed both our homeowner's and auto policies. After a lot of research into MANY companies, Auto Owners came in best for us. USAA is cheaper, but...my FIL (who is a vet) doesn't have an account with them, and since my husband and I neither served in the military, we can't get it without someone who has and has an account with them already. I suggest you find someone to do the research for you. People really want to sell insurance, and if you can find someone you trust, they will help you find what's best for you.

It always amazes me that people fail to use Google when they get on here to argue political or religious points. Try it. It's easy and it's free.

Hurricane Irene has the potential to become a mega

9 people are dead now from this storm, and 2 million are without power. Those 2 million and 9 stupid, stupid people. One of the dead died of a heart attack when he was boarding up his house. How stupid. One was an 11 year old boy who died when a tree crashed into his house. How stupid. One was a 15 year old girl who died in a car wreck when a traffic light was out. How stupid. What were they thinking? -
Agreed. Which is why I asked for her file extension. Is it a .doc? If so, any newer version should be able to open it. Which leads me to think maybe it's not a Word doc?
-
Whatever it is...you can go to http://www.zamzar.com/, upload the document, and save it in a format that will work with your software. I believe you can convert a 97-2003 document to a 2010 document, and then there would be no compatibility problems. I've used Zamzar a number of times when I've had compatibility issues.
-
What is the file extension (what comes after the.) for the document you are trying to open?

You have no more reason to explain why you listen to the scanner than anyone else has to question why you do.

While I would probably not find pcom the best venue to learn tragic news, there have been times when wrecks have been posted on here when my loved ones were on the route where the accidents happened, and I personally appreciated knowing what kind of vehicles were involved, so I could either rule out those loved ones or do whatever I needed to find out more information. This website acts as a community news/gossip board. Things will be posted about accidents, and if the vehicles are known, I see no problem with posting them.

What I completely fail to understand is how suddenly so many people become meteorologists who feel so completely comfortable telling everyone not to worry and that taking reasonable precautions if they are in the path of the storm are just being idiots for buying into the hype. Who gave you the freaking crystal ball? Certainly, there is a great deal of hype. And I sincerely hope that those of you who completely dismiss the potential damage this storm might cause feel really important if the storm is destructive and many people suffer in its wake. I cannot fathom why anyone woul -
I live at Florence and 278. Well, not ON that intersection, but near there. For YEARS, Macland has been my shortcut if I need to go into Hiram or Dallas. On most days, it still is. But over the last year or so, that route has become an even worse choice, depending on the hour and the day, than traveling on 278. I pretty much still use Macland, though. However, I know this is going to change. We have looked at some homes with land out there on Macland, near our end. But unless the house and property are set WAY back off the road, I won't even consider living there...it's not

Cancer SUCKS. I'm so sorry for your and your family's loss. My hope is for the folks with the knowledge who will find ways to eradicate loss from this prevalent disease. I lost my mom, my dad, my BIL, and many others I loved to various forms of cancer. I've personally known too many really young kids who have lost the fight with this monstrous disease. My energy is focused on the folks who have the ability to find the cures... ...along with the many people who have had to know that terrible loss.

Earlier this week when the quake happened, cell phone lines were jammed because of the influx of calls from people trying to reach their loved ones. I saw on the world news that in such situations, they recommend people text rather than call--that even if the lines are jammed with calls, texts can still get through. I just thought I'd mention this for anyone who has loved ones in the storm's path. It probably won't help if cell towers are truly down, but if the high call volume is the issue, texting might still work. I know after Ike, it was almost two days before I could reach any of
