  1. Basmati is almost all I use now, but I also make Jasmine sometimes. I agree...there's no going back! Like I said, I'm sure couscous is good with a sauce, but I love it so much just seasoned with something as it cooks. Garlic and pine nuts in a fluffy couscous is a side dish hard to beat!
  2. Couscous cooked like rice is so fluffy and nice, I would NEVER weigh it down with a sauce...EVER!! I'm guessing it would be good like that, but I highly recommend trying it the other way first. It's just so good, and I serve it as a side dish with anything I might serve rice as a side dish with. Grilled chicken with a side of fluffy couscous and some fresh green beans (or cream peas) is divine!! Here, check this recipe out. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
  3. I have made risotto. Those recipes you found look good. And I LOVE couscous. It's like a very, very fine rice. You should give it a try!
  4. Oh, this one's all yours, sweetie!
  5. Good suggestion!! Maybe, if the two people who drive those two cars and park in the yard have a disability that requires them easy access into the front door, maybe all of the neighbors can get together on a weekend neighborhood "work day" and help build a ramp from the driveway to the door, so they can park in their driveway like everybody else in the neighborhood and still have easy access into the house! GREAT idea!!
  6. No one really said there wouldn't be an autopsy. The discussion was whether or not a trip to the ER would be required... I can't believe this discussion has even gone here. Apparently someone died...maybe...it looks like that...where does the desire to know cross the lines of basic decency?
  7. If I live in a neighborhood with RULES about parking in the yard in a town also with RULES about parking in the yard... ...yeah, it's all about MY business.
  8. Aww, I was just poking a little bit, TP. I get closer every day!
  9. We know our neighbors, and we like them. When we are having enough company to matter to them, we let them know, and they TELL us to use their space. We do the same for them. On occasion, my husband has parked in the yard, when doing yard work or if we have too much overflow, but it's never for more than a day, and it's only very rarely (though I hate it whenever he does it). I would care if my neighbors used their front yard for overflow parking regularly. And I'm no busy-body. It's just plain tacky to use your yard as a long-term parking space. If you live on a large piece of
  10. Just checked my radio...thanks for the link. It's all set correctly.
  11. I find Benadryl cream reeeeeeeeeeeeeealy helpful anytime I get wealts.
  12. Just for fun, I peeked at the NOAA Hurricane Center: A VIGOROUS TROPICAL WAVE...ACCOMPANIED BY A BROAD SURFACE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM...IS LOCATED ABOUT 550 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. THIS LARGE DISTURBANCE HAS BECOME MUCH BETTER ORGANIZED DURING THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS...AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN CONDUCIVE FOR A TROPICAL DEPRESSION TO FORM DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO. THIS SYSTEM HAS A HIGH CHANCE...60 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD TO WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH. Fun.
  13. I've had mine for several years, and it's always worked fine, until this year. I've never reprogrammed it, so I have to wonder if the codes have changed or something. It's a completely useless energy-sucker at the moment. Stay safe! I haven't heard anything specific about Hwy 5, but there are trees down all over the place, so it's certainly possible. I wanted the rain, but not the DRAMA.
  14. My weather radio is apparently USELESS. There was a tornado in my immediate area, and it didn't even peep. I slapped it a couple of times, but still nothing. Even now we're under a tornado warning...and nothing. I guess I need to reprogram the silly thing.
  15. A coroner can pronounce death in a case of "clear and obvious" death. If the car was there for a number of days, I would guess this was the case. My heart goes out to the family.
  16. THAT was FUN!! NOT! (I live in PS.)
  17. Google "Cowboy Candy." Mmmmmmmmmmmm...so GOOD. And easy to make.
  18. I don't condone "speeding." Traveling the route I do every day, I SEE speeding. I *KNOW* speeding. My point is, out there on Florence where I spoke of earlier, sorry folks--it's a set-up. If you're going 55 through there? You should get a ticket. It's a little two-lane road approaching a major intersection. You need to slow your @$$ down. But what happens out there--people get stopped and ticketed for going 45 in a 35. On a road that, much of the day, has little traffic. And instead of raising the limit there (which would actually make more SENSE), cops sit out there and pick people of
  19. Personally, I rarely flash for speed traps. I don't want the ticket I might get for the warning. But I am always a grateful recipient when someone warns me. I live near the intersection of 278/Florence Road. Multiple times EVERY month, cops park at the athletic shop there, behind a sign and obscured by big shade trees. Talk about your fish in a barrel--the City of Powder Springs CLEANS UP at that particular trap. And the bad part, I think, is that, if you've just turned OFF of Florence and are heading down Florence toward Macland, you probably haven't garnered enough speed yet where th
  20. I heard that! And my first thought? It's a bit of a stretch calling her a "star"! My second thought? I really don't want to see her dance.
  21. I'd rather see tax $$$ go to feed our needy HERE. Why would anyone find this surprising? Anyone who does...have you noticed the unemployment numbers lately? How do the unemployed feed their families? I just wish there was a way to pour salt on the slugs who suck the system. We'd all be better off if there was some accountability. If you have a cell phone with unlimited minutes, drive an Escalade with gold rims, carry designer purses, dress your 6 kids' feet in Keens, wear lots of "bling," and use the local emergency room as your family physician, I'm not too pleased about you
  22. My oldest son also went through this program. He was "identified" for his excellence in math when he was in middle school. His predilection for mathematical concepts still gives him advantages today, years after he got this cool recognition. We didn't find it helpful in any way academically. But it was a confidence-building thing when it happened! And that really does matter, to parents and to kids. Congrats to her achievement, and good luck!
