  1. For burns: 800mg of Ibuprofen as soon as possible after the burn and cover the area with Neosporin ointment--has to be the ointment (not the cream). Coat the area with the ointment again before you go to bed and cover your hand/forearm with a sock.
  2. Cast Away. Wonderful movie, however, the crash scene is too much for me. I love to fly, although, the thought of crashing terrifies me. The crash scene is just too much for me. Also, the end of the movie was hard to swallow. Seeing him come back to what 'life' looks like when everyone thought you were dead. That was powerful for me--I thought a lot after seeing that movie.
  3. If you are referring to 'Apple Pay,' it will be on both iPhone 6 models.
  4. It is really difficult to say exactly without seeing the entire header. If you care to share the header via PM I could tell you exactly what is going on.
  5. I have been a flight-sim enthusiast since I was a kid. Getting an airliner off the ground isn't rocket science. Get it to about 500ft, engage autopilot, sit back, and the plane flies itself. I follow a few flight-sim channels on Youtube. Check this out (keeping in mind this guy is in his self-built simulator he built in his home): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7OelDYBS5Q
  6. My daughter asked me this very question a while back when she was looking at some of my stuff that says 'Believe.' My answer was simple: Yourself.
  7. I have absolutely no use for this, however, there is some childish reason I want it. No idea what I would do with it--nor do I have room for it. But there is a 10 year old inside of me saying 'sweeeeeeeeet!'
  8. Not a bad idea. I can do any soldering needed.
  9. Vinegar and Q-tips. Edit: You may need an old tooth brush to break the corrosion and rust up. Dip it in household vinegar and scrub. Use the Q-tips to scrub surfaces and paper towels to help dry it up. Be careful, sometimes the springs can rust all the way through and break. If this happens, use some aluminum foil to wedge between what is left of the spring and the battery.
  10. Actually, I don't. I have a few servers through Digital Ocean. I set my own tunnel up. As for my setup, as a rule I usually use CentOS Linux for anything public facing (reverse proxying from there to other boxes if needed). OpenVPN is what I use to set up the actual public tunnels. It is available in most of the distro repo's or you can always compile it from source. Edit: Here is a link to one company I have used in the past. They actually have free base accounts (they are a bit slow, etc...but they do the job). Link: https://proxpn.com/ If you want to roll your own--goog
  11. They are lying through their teeth--or just making it up. There is no such thing as a physical outage that only affects access to particular websites and not others (except perhaps a routing engine in a core router, however, 99% have redundant routing engines). What AT&T is not telling folks is that they are currently in heated negotiation with their upstream transit providers about peering agreements. What is most likely happening is traffic from ATT is be deprioritized and shaped upstream--or some routes just outright being blackholed due to issues with BGP sessions. I have uve
  12. I also wanted to add: It appears that this incident happened just behind the scene of a similar incident that occurred around 2000 (give or take a year or two--I just can't remember). However, it was a similar act, although, it was done with a knife. A husband stabbed his wife multiple times and then turned the knife on himself. I found the location of this recent incident, although coincidental, very ironic. One for it's proximity, two for the act being committed with a knife and assertions being made in this thread that access to a firearm made the most recent murder/suicide possible
  13. I think what troubles me most about where this thread has gone is the fact the gun argument has taken front and center. Where is the discussion about depression? Genuine clinical depression. Suicide transcends the method used. There are whole disciplines dedicated to studying the psychology of suicide (I took a semester course called just that while earning my degree). Guns are but one of the many means to the end--but they are simply that, a means. During my studies, I visited two particular Usenet newsgroups (which are still active today): alt.suicide.methods and alt.suici
  14. If I recall, when my youngest daughter was born a few years ago, I found a number listed somewhere in our room that was some sort of patient care/advocate...or something to the effect. I called this number and 'security' answered because it was almost midnight. The hospital maintenance crew were doing their monthly generator load testing. During the test, they turned all air conditioning off for over an hour. I complained a few times and each time the nurse would walk to the thermostat and appear to adjust it. However, there was no air blowing and I explained this each time--to appar
  15. Really? You are most definitely talking out of your ass at this point.
  16. Unless you are required to have or 'need' MS Office, look into LibreOffice. Personally, I wouldn't touch OpenOffice--Oracle trashed it before shutting the project down and transferring it to the Apache OpenOffice project. http://www.libreoffice.org If you are stuck with needing or required to have MS Office, you may want to look at Office365 before dropping several hundred dollars.
  17. Well, Pubby always seems to have camera trouble when KV is speaking. I would think he could at least spell the man's last name correctly. I certainly don't agree with KV on everything, however, love him or hate him, he has the balls to speak out about what he believes in. Why he is being vilified for an extended turn at the podium is beyond me. Personally, I wish there were folks just as long-winded and loud as KV on the BOTH sides of the aisle.
  18. I don't eat shrimp too often anymore. Some tell me I am imagining things, however, it just doesn't taste like it did 20 or so years ago. I can tell a distinct difference.
  19. Me too! I feel like I am about to read a juicy story about some nut named Walker with a shoe fetish.
  20. When television series were starting to be offered on DVD I remember counting down the days for the Sanford and Son first season to be released. One of my favorite shows.
  21. I am sure they call it a 'convenience fee' or something equally nonsensical. The fact is, it is just an opportunity to milk those who choose to pay online or by phone of junk fees. Sure, in a for-profit situation, it would make sense to the bottom-line. Many banks and other credit oriented businesses depend and count on late fees. It is a big part of their profits. With the advent of the internet came the ability to pay someone instantly. When businesses, banks, and the like started offering their customers the ability to pay bills online they used all sorts of tactics (not posting on
  22. I am assuming you are referring to the confederate battle flag. That is NOT the 'stars and bars.' It is a St. Andrews Cross--more affectionately referred to as a 'Southern Cross.' Which has NOTHING to do with the Crosby, Stills, and Nash song 'Southern Cross.' That is about the constellation used in the southern hemisphere for navigation; nothing to do with this thread but I thought I would toss that in for free.
