  1. I LOVE football, but I do not love it more than Disney World But it will only be for four years and then he'll graduate.
  2. Our son plays football for the 8th grade Junior team and we are leaving right after his game on the 17th headed to Disney for the week. He will miss a week of practice and a game the following Saturday. The trip is a huge family one that has been planned for over a year. We know once he hits high school there will be NO missing practice/games if he hopes to play. I am hoping his coach this year will be understanding and not punish him for missing, but there is no guarantee. I agree though that it's crazy to have the breaks and then expect the kids who play sports/band etc. to be at pra
  3. We saw it today at 278 and it is absolutely fantastic! I can't believe I've been watching these movies for ten years and reading the books since 1997! Of course I cried at the end as did many people around me. My 16 year old daughter said it was the end of her childhood and I guess in a way it was since she was 6 when the first movie came out.
  4. It's just harmless, silly fun. Never heard of it until my teenage daughter told me they did it at softball practice this week. When she explained what it was I just laughed. She said they knew it was stupid and pointless, but that was what made it funny. I remember when I was in high school all of the jocks/cheerleaders a.k.a. "cool" kids started a new "language". They added scr in front of everything they said. Instead of saying Scott they said Scrott and Scristy instead of Christy. It was incredibly stupid, but at the time everybody wanted to do it because the cool kids did it.
  5. My husband just bought me an Android and we are on Verizon. The reception is absolutely horrible! The entire conversation is choppy and almost always drops out during the call. We bought the phone practically new off E-bay so he thought perhaps it was the phone. Bought another one and it does the exact same thing. We don't have a land line anymore so it is important that I have good reception. Anyone else had problems with Droid phones like this?
  6. When my teenage daughter sends me a text at work and it says something like "OMG! I cannot believe this!" So I quickly respond with "What"? An hour later I finally get a response and it's usually some lame thing like someone was being aggravating today. Here I sit thinking she's had a car wreck, been beaten up at school, failed some major test, etc. I've told her to tell me the whole story in one text please. No more cliffhangers.
  7. Hmmm, my 16 year old can sing circles around her and actually looks 16. Again, where does "good christian girl" fit in with this image? I mean that's what her mom called her. It's sad that some parents are so eager for their child to be a superstar that they will sell them out to the highest bidder. My daughter is an amazing singer and could go far with it, but I could care less about having her turn into something like this to do it.
  8. I teach 4 year old preschool and the first lesson I learned was COUNT, COUNT, COUNT your kids! Every. Single. Time. we leave our room I do a headcount. I do it before we leave, several times as we're walking and as everyone walks in the door and I only have 12 kids. I do headcounts periodically throughout the day in the classroom. It is easy to get overwhelmed and distracted, but leaving a child in a car; there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever.
  9. Ummmm, if those boobs are real then I'd like to know what she eats so I can change my diet! I have NEVER seen a sixteen year old built like that. And she looks very old in the eyes. Her mom's comment that she's "a good christian girl" cracked me up. Not that you can't be hot and be a christian, but come on! There were some very provocative shots there that I don't think would inspire pure and holy thoughts in young boys and men.
  10. We have Comcast's very basic cable package and their internet. Not sure how it works, but it does
  11. We just dropped our Comcast down to the very basic plus our internet. Savings $100+ a month. My husband purchased the MLB package for $89 on our Roku and now he and the boys can watch any game that is on. Since they were pretty much only watching baseball on the cable the $89 is a steal for an entire year. They do miss their ESPN but they'll get over it. We also do the dirt cheapest Netflix plan and so far everyone is happy. We got rid of our landline last year and it was the best thing we've ever done. Unfortunately we have three kids on our cell phone plan including three smartph
  12. I totally agree with the poster who said so many of the moms of these girls are living vicariously through their daughters and dying for them to be popular. When my daughter was in elementary school, I'd say about 4th grade, you started noticing the "popularity" divide beginning. The skinny, sassy little girls started dressing like miniature teenagers. This was back when Limited Too was the place to shop and they sold the teeny, tiny shorts and tight little tops to match. At the time my daughter while not overweight was also not a stick girl so the majority of the clothes in the store were
  13. My daughter is at EPHS and we got her report card early last week. Also got my boys from Roberts and Moses. You are right that they are not answering the phone though. I called last week to see if I could find out her class rank. They included it on the transcript they sent out last summer, but not this year. Never got an answer.
  14. From my experience McDonald's is VERY budget friendly And the added bonus is that there are several along the strip to choose from. Now as to how good it is? Well, that's all up to the individual.
  15. This is the bill I am dreading this summer! I remember reading some companies were going to increase rates by 23%. I am cautiously estimating a $200 increase and hope I am pleasantly surprised with less than that, but I'm not holding my breath.
  16. I just figured up our escrow account and when everything is paid and leaving the required "balance" in the account, at the end of the year we will have over an $800 surplus. Can you call your mortgage company and request an escrow re-evaluation after everything is paid? Are they required by law to refund any extra money if you request it? Looking at last years escrow analysis it appears they did it in September BEFORE they actually had to pay our taxes and they based it on our previous years taxes. So of course when our taxes ended up being more in November they immediately upped our pa
  17. Ah, this is what happened to us last year! So they use the previous years tax amount to figure out what you need to have for the coming year? Great. Last year our taxes were $1500 and this year they are $1100. So I guess they will keep all that extra money in our account? This is an absolute scam to me!
  18. My daughter and I use Ginger as well and ADORE her! I get one haircut a year and I won't go anywhere else.
  19. I bought some like this from Groupon a few weeks ago. Didn't realize at the time that the Hiram theater does not offer online ticket purchases so the only theater close enough for my 16 year old and her 16 year old boyfriend to drive to and use them was Austell Road. Just a heads up. I think the details on these say online ticket purchase only.
  20. Our fair market value dropped $7300. According to the paper our taxes should be $1130 this year. Last year they were almost $1500! As it stands we will have about $1200 extra in our escrow at the end of the year AFTER taxes and insurance have been paid. I expect a nice check to get that back. I do remember reading that hazard insurance premiums will be increasing substantially this year because of all the storm damage repairs over the past couple of years. You can't win for losing anymore. It's gotten to where it takes everything you have to keep your home. God help when repairs com
  21. That's why I'm reading Wicked a second time. The first time I struggled to get through it. I read very fast and it's one of those books you need to go slowly and deliberately on. I'm enjoying it more this time around. I still haven't seen it on stage, but heard it was completely different from the book.
  22. Rereading Wicked along with The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy and Founding Brothers, both of which my daughter has to read for Honors Lit. I figured since we had them I'd read them too. I've already read Fried Green Tomatoes and Can't Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg and The Secret Life of Bees this summer. I'm a voracious reader and always looking for new books and authors. I heard The Help was fantastic so I'll have to pick that one up. Also planning to re-read the Harry Potter series and probably the Twilight series again IF I have time.
  23. Was this in a subdivision? PCSD had some teenagers cuffed and loaded in cars along with towing their car this afternoon in my neighborhood. I'm pretty sure they aren't child molestors but now days you just never know.
  24. 16 year old will be attending summer softball workouts at the high school twice a week, then swimming and hanging out with her boyfriend in the rest of her free time. 13 year old will have football workouts/camp and then probably play Playstation the rest of the time. 10 year old is probably playing a little summer baseball and then fishing and hanging out with my dad, his Pop, a lot! No family trips planned as we are going to Disney World/Universal Studios for fall break in September.
  25. I'm a little baffled on this one. According to the original post the family knew their father hid money away because they found a bundle taped under a desk one time. Do you honestly think if a person had any inclination whatsoever that there could be money left in a house they would not scour every nook and cranny looking for it. And who in their right mind would not clean out an attic of their parents home before selling it. Who knows what might be in there. I'm thinking it belongs to the new homeowners. When my grandmother passed away a few years ago I helped my parents clean out he
