Congratulations on being able to retire on *your* terms. I retired last year, but not by choice. I don't miss the D/L office one lick, but I *do* miss the income.

Ah, you should watch 'The Middle' (Wed. at 8pm on ABC) - now *that's* a great show!
-
Eh. You can like Chaz all you want, but s/he can't dance worth a flip and *totally* needs to be sent home. OTOH, Chynna Phillips did NOT deserve to go - I'm guessing she just didn't have the name recognition to get people interested in keeping her around.

Ah, but you don't have to have insurance to have a *license* - you only need insurance if you *drive* - and not even then, provided the car has insurance.

That would be the DDS (Department of Driver Services) website. Here is the link to the Joshua's Law information. *PLEASE* make sure you choose a program, whether online or brick-and-mortar, from the list provided by DDS - other programs are not certified and therefore NOT accepted by DDS to satisfy the requirements of Joshua's Law. I've enjoyed it too, and would be sorry to see it only last one season. I'm thinking the writers could use the rich geeky semi-friend (Nolan?) to stymie Emily's plans somewhere along the way, which would complicate her plans considerably since he knows her agenda. I also think we're just seeing her take down the smaller characters who contributed to her father's downfall - she's going to torture the bigger fish for a while before she fries them.

Another helpful mower tip from your local mower guy

What's the best way to winterize a riding mower that (unfortunately) cannot be housed indoors? -
Yup, my favorite was Rio Bravo (RIP). Their salsa (which I have learned to make!) was the best, and I could eat their sweet corn tomalito every day. One of the best things about our California vacation several years ago was having a Chevy's (same chain, different name) nearby. Shallow but true. As for Mexican/Tex-Mex I *can* get semi-locally, our restaurant of choice is La Parrilla in Powder Springs or very occasionally On The Border on Barrett Parkway. I was profoundly unimpressed with the one Paulding establishment we tried - I can't remember the name, but it's the place on 278 j

Here is the link to the G.R.A.C.E. fund at UGA; since it was part of Lakota's story on WSB-TV, I'm guessing this is Lakota's account: https://www.externalaffairs.uga.edu/os/simple?account=30717280&name=G.R.A.C.E.+Fund&foundation=2

Some people just can't help themselves. Bless their hearts. Back on topic ... I'm not going to cry any crocodile tears over Kristin's departure - heck, I had to do a Yahoo! search to figure out who she was. But there was no way she should have left before Chaz, who is just not cutting it dancing-wise.
-
Yeah, s/he was at the bottom of the Dial Idol stats, so apparently s/he was saved by the web votes.

I don't think I've ever seen someone with NO dancing experience come on this show and show such talent and skill so quickly. I'm really impressed!

The totally politically-incorrect smell of burning leaves.

That's what happens when you buy one two or three sizes too small.

Is that the gal who's supposed to be sixteen or so? Married to the fifty-something guy? I'd be heartbroken if my daughter looked that cheap.

The officer may have done him a favor already - 21 mph over the speed limit is 3 points, but 24+ mph would have been a six-month suspension (Serious Violation < 21). It's possible that your son was going *faster* than 66, and the officer wrote it lower to cut him some slack. That happens a LOT. As long as your son hasn't gotten any other tickets that assess points, he should be OK. The advice about the defensive driving course was good, and the judge may appreciate it if he's had the class before he appears in court (if he has enough time to take it before his court date). I've often wondered what parents do who work night shifts. I'm sure many are fortunate in that there are two parents in the home, and that they work in such a way that the kids are cared for without outside help, but what do single moms and dads do? I realize that there would be *many* challenges in running a 24-hour daycare, but there must be a *need* for one.

There are two locations: one in downtown Atlanta somewhere (never been to that one) and another in Little Five Points. One of the tastiest ways to blow a diet is a pimiento cheeseburger and fried zucchini from The Vortex!

What's your average turn-around for simple alterations? I have a couple of items I need hemmed - I just hope I haven't left it too late. -
Agreed! I'm on her official FB page, and it sounds as if good things are coming together for her - I hope so!

Do you ever smell cigarette smoke in your house..........

I have the same problem from time to time. I thought it might be related to my PAH, but maybe not - this is apparently more common than one might think. -
While I get the 'ick' factor, I'm also bemused by the fact that most of us use public toilets all the time and don't even think about it. So, rationally, should we even care?

I'm glad he'll be coming into a supportive home. IMO, if the whole family will get involved in some light exercise (walking around the neighborhood is a start) and eating more healthily, it will make it less about him and more about doing what we should *all* do.
