  1. Brown recluses are relatively small spiders and can be brown or gray - they're kinda a combo color. They like to hide in small dark places. In addition to wood piles, etc., please always check your shoes if you leave them outside. My mom was bitten by one years ago - the doc told us that the most common bite was on the toes when someone put their shoes on. The biggest issue with a brown recluse bite is getting to the doctor relatively quickly - within a day or two. One can always have an allergic reaction that needs quicker attention. Once bitten, strong antibiotics will take care of
  2. I agree. But, I think all mayo type products are gross.
  3. Hubby only eats Kroger poptarts and bread. We used to drive to his parents to go grocery shopping once a month to stock up on his favorites. Oh, yea, Kroger brand peanut butter is the same as peter pan peanut butter. That's all my family will eat (I prefer this expensive brand - but I don't eat that much peanute butter). There are quite a few things that we only eat store brand. On the name brand side, they only eat dukes mayonaisse (disgusting, but I just don't eat it). We don't like grass fed beef.
  4. How old are your receivers? They have dramatically improved the signal processing to eleminate the tree, cloud, and rain interference. Our new DVR box rarely goes out for those reasons.
  5. learning bridge is mandated to hire any of the asp workers that are currently there. And, please know - asp workers are not necessairly folks from your child's school - I know many high school students, moms, etc. that work asp. The difference in cost is that the school system won't be absorbing the overhead cost of operating the physical plant of the school during ASP anymore - lights, power, cooling, heating, etc. The school system has been absorbing that in the past.
  6. We've had directv for about 15 years. Love it. Only service issues have ever been with the neighbor's trees which he happily trimmed for us. Won't do cable for professional reasons. I called directv to ask about some of their deals for new customers - wanted to know where the old customer deals are. They gave me almost what they do for new customers. Called them - hubby wanted a dvr - I didn't want to pay for it - they gave me the dvr (no lease - the box is mind) and the service fee is waived for a year. The gentleman on the phone told me to put a note on my calendar when the year wa
  7. (Walking away, shaking my head).....
  8. Disc clean up and then defrag (both in your programs - accessories - system tools).
  9. When there's an electronic screw up and suddenly your kid is failing classes or failing the grade because overpaid idiot entered a school id number or social security number in wrong - suddenly it becomes priceless. But, I also have all my tax records (period) and alot of other records that other folks only find useful when the records are gone and they suddenly needs them.
  10. It's not a regular enveloped - it's a larger manilla envelope - it's not just 44 cents - it's almost 80 cents - it's not just one piece of paper - it's about 10-12 pieces of paper folded in half. Really folks - do you think that they're making money off this? Do you think that they are balancing the budget on the backs of families by holding them hostage over a report card??? Huh?? And, quite frankly, I don't want my kids report cards sent by email - no idea that it's actually from the school - that it's actually their report card, etc. I want the real piece of paper in my hand for
  11. I think this is the kind of thing that they are concerned about. There are alot of countries that won't authorize the sale of those devices in their country (all kinds of wireless testing must be done etc.) Israel for a long time wouldn't allow the sale of their devices. The ipads in Europe are actually different than those sold in the US because of the EU wireless rules. And, by my end of the bargain, I mean - signing up for other services that are required - wireless service, etc. I don't use apple devices usually. So, I'm not sure of the strings.
  12. I don't have a debit card - I have an atm card. I don't want anyone being able to just sign off on spending money out of my savings accounts. After having $8k spent out of my checking account in about 20 minutes - dont' want to do that again. What if I hadn't been looking that day? You are stupid if you use your debit card for online purchases or anything that you might need the 60 day grace period on. You might think that Clark Howard is an idiot - but most folks have no clue that they don't have the same protections on their visa/mc debit card as they do on the traditional credit card.
  13. Boy Scouts - my 13 year old son is going to be home three weeks this summer. Summer camp - leadership training - national jamboree (pricey but worth it) - helping with a webelos den at summer camp - he's not going to be home much. Plus - most boy scout troops meet all summer with weekend activities. We'd keep him busy.
  14. Been outside for soccer all day in Carrollton - very warm - almost hot - very, very windy - trees were really bending alot. The weird thing is that the wind was even hot. Almost like a blow dryer. Kinda worried about tonight - we've got a basement and a plan. But, still - it's just weird.
  15. My bosses are in CA - we communicate by email 95% of the time. I do the work - the check shows up in 30 days. Likin' my arrangement. I worked in a law firm for a while - now that was an experience in crappy bosses.
  16. You are correct to some degree. But, when the Board has made all the cuts that they can to what they do spend money on and there's no money left for the county supplemental - the governement is still making cuts. Like I said, I've not done my research on what this SPLOST supports. I personally prefer this kind of taxation because it does give us (the individual tax payer) some kind of control - it lets us make a choice and voice our opinions - it's based off what I spend, not what I earn. And, please remember - this is an extension of a tax that is already in place. It's not a ne
  17. Hate to point this out folks (and I don't necessairly support or oppose this SPLOST), but when you talk about the government employees doing without just like the rest of us - it's happening. Who do you think employs our school teachers, the school janitors, the folks that have been laid off at the county? I know that you probably mean the BOC and those guys, the fat cats that everyone rails against. But, the fact is - when we talk about saying no to taxes because the government should have to cut back like we do - it's happening. They are cutting back. We're going to have fewer teachers
  18. I just got off it - no problem on my end.
  19. It's on the same side of 92 that would eventually get you to D'ville. I've never been good with the south side/north side of a road.
  20. The "rosenwald" school (I think that's what it's called) on hwy92 across from the landscape place - just past where Regions used to be.
  21. We have used him for several years. I really, really like him. He's very kind. He does a great job. And, while dental work is always expensive, I have found that he is on average with everyone else. I highly recommend him.
  22. I wish I could help, naturegirl, but we haven't crossed the medicare bridge in my family yet. Sorry!!
  23. I'm afraid that this is the road that we're all going to walk down eventually - and then, when no one wants to take the government mandated payments for services or supplies - then the government will just take everything over. I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist - but I do truly believe that tthis will be the road we walk. And, then, God help us all.
  24. Call Judy Bagby - in Dallas - she's amazing and she'll tell you exactly what to do. She was a huge help to my parents when they bought their property with some issues because the property was in probate and being disputed by one of the children.
  25. Mine don't wear shorts everyday. With AC in the building - there's just no reason to. Oldest wore them today - they're doing something outside. I might consider tomorrow just as a treat. Dress for the job you want in life - not the job you've got.
