Sounds like a good lesson to the dad. Might be a little harsh on the 8 year old. Was he even that upset about it? Might be the best thing to happen to them. Maybe they will bond on the trips.? -
OMGosh, you guy have me balling. This simple gesture will be remembered forever.

Thanks, LPPT. I needed that this morning!

Rick Springfield also played himself on some episodes of Californication.

Yeah, we do NOT go there because the smell always ruins our appetite!

Thank you guys so much for splitting this. For the record, we passed a horrible accident on our way to meet family in Helen. DH wanted to see how bad it was. I told him to mind his own business. Well, when we got to Helen, the lady at check-in told us that it was my sister, her husband and our recently belated grandmother's dog in the horrible accident. They were both taken by ambulance and a kind stranger took the dog, who later passed. My sister still teases me about it but I know that she desperately needed one of us there and I passed her right by! What if that had been th

I am so sorry.

I honestly think that is the least of their concerns. If you've ever lost someone close to you, one of the most difficult things to do is notify others. Having to repeat out loud what has happened over and over. Maybe it will be a blessing for the family not to have to go through that part of it as much.

My heart is breaking for this family.

I think it's usually a large door that they can use to enclose an area before opening an interior door to transport a prisoner in or out of the jail. Can be to a garage type area so that a subject can be brought in by car and then taken into the jail once the sally port door is secure.

Ok. That makes sense. What the heck? He tried something as they were taking him in? That's sad for everyone. I hope the deputies were not forced to do anything too drastic.

Seriously? Seven? For a suicide attempt?

It seems to me that forcing a child that age to be inactive only makes the situation worse. That's the one thing that can burn off some of the energy and/or frustration. Does the teacher make them miss recess if they misbehave? If they don't have an outlet, it makes no sense that they will be better behaved. I used to make our son run around the yard x number of times or do x number of jumping jacks if he was too roudy. He got a kick out of the "punishment" but he would do it. If he got wound back up, back to the jumping or running he would go. Worked like a charm for us! Just

That's rough needing a life flight that can't get out!

Wow, I just came through there about 20 minutes ago. This must've just happened.

Which is a good idea for safety reasons, anyway. I'd rather have the bus driver concentratin on the road.

Highjack: zoo, you guys trying to catch up to 19 & counting? She may hit menapause soon so you might have a chance. Stop having kids so you can take in more dogs! I am totally messing with you! We would've started a lot earlier and had more if we'd only known how awesome they are. My college roommate has five that she homeschools. She would've kept going if she hadn't been forced to have a hysterectomy. Congrats!!!!

I don't know about other areas but we have a lot of stay at home/work at home parents so they really could start a lot earlier in the day and not be bombarded during a two hour period. I know this year the teachers didn't have a lot of prep time so a longer open house might not have been an option.? They could even do an earlier time and a later time. Just seems like it would make it easier on them, assuming they have more than 12 hours access to their classroom before open house day.

I don't see kids being in classroom by 8:00 deadline

Keep us posted. DD's best friend goes to school that way.

Mrs. Cheryl is ds's bus driver and she is amazing!! DD loves her bus driver, too. It's probably not great pay for putting up with that many munchkins while manuvering a huge bus through traffic but they still do a wonderful job. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Just a side note: If you have a coupon hound nearby, they would probably love to take that thing they throw in your yard every Thurs. I agree about the waste, though.
