  1. I agree our mliitary shouldn't be over there for this. Regarding that nurse who flew to Cleveland, she was NOT symptomatic when she flew up to Ohio. When she started running a low-grade fever, she called the Texas board of health and was told it was okay to come back home. She was not under order to contact the CDC and never did contact the CDC. She did nothing wrong with the information she had at the time. Amber is now at Emory. Nina, the first nurse to contract ebola from Thomas Duncan, did not breach protocol in removing her gown/gloves/mask as originally reported by the hospital, sh
  2. I'm wondering if this needs stronger protective gear for anyone in contact with an ebola patient. There's normal masks that are worn in healthcare, just as in the OR, and there's the N-95 masks worn for TB patients. Maybe special gloves/gowns/face shields are needed for ebola Or a scarier thought--what if it's absorbed transdermally, through the skin? If the first nurse DID contaminate herself when removing her protective gear, the contaminated fluid could have been on her skin for a few minutes before she washed her hands after removing it all; could it have been absorbed through her bare
  3. There are certain ways to safely remove contaminated protective gear and we are taught that in nursing school. I think they're not telling us something about the transmission of this disease. How did the nurse wearing full gear contract it, while the ER nurse with NO protective gear not contract it?

    Martin's

They have good, BIG biscuits. I don't wait in the drive-thru line, I go inside. I took a friend there for breakfast once because he'd gone with me to buy tires for my car (didn't want the lone female to get ripped off) and when we parked to go inside he asked what we were doing. I told him we were going to eat in and he looked at me funny--he'd thought it was drive-thru only!
  5. If a zombie apocalypse does happen I'm going to D.C. Lots of dead zombies, starved to death--no brains to be found there!
  6. Oops. I had heard the story on the news this morning so I didn't fully read the headline, and when I posted I was thinking about a story out of Woodstock so I had Woodstock on the brain--that's where Cherokee came from! Sorry!
  7. Wouldn't that be "smoked" okra? LOL. The cops did apologize. At least they're looking out for marijuana in Cherokee county!
  8. Yes! I support cops, firefighters, paramedics/EMTs, military, all those who run toward danger when everyone else is running away. My sister had a friend on CCPD who was shot and killed in the line of duty patroling a bad part of Marietta. I hate to see someone bash cops; I even correct my son when he says "po-po" instead of police. Like any other profession, there are good ones and bad ones and even some corrupt ones, but they still deserve our respect. If you can't stand behind them then you're more than welcome to stand in front of them.
  9. In the days before Twitter but after Facebook, I worked with a girl who forgot what the # was. Anyway, I was writing down the vital signs on a patient and jotted down 48" and 47#. She asked me what the pound sign meant and I told her POUNDS. The kid weighs 47 pounds. She then realized what she had asked and started laughing. #duh! (sorry, just had to).
  10. A telemarketer called my mom one day and she politely kept repeating "no thank you" during the guy's spiel but he kept going. After the 4th time she yelled "NO THANK YOU!" and hung up. He called right back, told her "it's my turn now b%#&H and hung up on her. Two days ago I got a call on my cell for some survey something or other. I told them I'm not interested thank you and hung up. Two hours later I got another call from the SAME PEOPLE. I told the same guy I'm not interested thank you I told you this last time and DON'T CALL ME AGAIN! We'll see if they do.
  11. So sorry you lost your dear friend. I HATE when people try to be a friend postmortem. My friend died when we were 16 and some of the very kids that teased her were at her funeral, and many more checked out of school early claiming they were going to attend the funeral. They used her death to skip class.
  12. I've heard of someone robbing a bank by writing a note on their deposit slip demanding money. The cops are at their house when they get home because the name, address, and phone number are on the deposit slip. I've also heard of a guy who wrote a note demanding the money be put in a paper bag. The teller told him she didn't have a paper bag but the grocery store a mile down the road would have one. He left, she called the cops and the grocery store, he came back with the bag and was arrested.
  13. Hubby has a Keurig but I don't drink coffee at all. He likes the extra bold dark roast stuff and drinks it black. He only drinks one cup a day though! He loves his Keurig because it fits our lifestyle better. He had a small 4-cup coffee maker before and would make about 2 cups for his travel mug but the single-serve system works better.
  14. I agree with you both. Bobo needs to gogo. Gurley is a beast and we need to utilize his full skills, but we need to be careful and not overuse him because we really can't afford to have him get hurt again. Every team we play knows we're going to run Gurley and they're expecting that, so we need to change it up some. Mason does need to improve his passing game. Tennessee crushed us in passing yards. The most important thing of yesterday, however, is the big fat W! Oh, anybody see the video of Texas A&M QB trucking Spurrier? Love it!
  15. My oldest had a dresser with a changing table built in on top. When you were using the changing table part, a shelf folded down to expand the top for changing, when done it folded back up. When he'd outgrown the changing table necessity, the shelf stayed folded up and we used it to hold some of his toys. My toddler has a changing table that we got at Wal-Mart for under $50. There's two shelves on it and it's on wheels so you can move it if necessary, although we didn't put the wheels on.
  16. I had it in my right shoulder when I was 18. It hurt like you wouldn't believe. The doc rx some 800mg ibuprofen and put me in a sling for 2 weeks. I haven't had any problems with it since, and that's been 18 years now. It's not something I care to repeat. Prayers for a speedy recovery!
  17. Is the big bad wolf from the Three Little Pigs the same one that ate Little Red Riding Hood's grandma? He was so mad at the pigs for refusing entry that he ran into the woods and ate the first person he came to, grandma in her house? She wouldn't have told him "not by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin" and he could have blown her door down very easily. I can't sing but I know it, so you won't see me on American Idol arguing with the judges that my friends all love my voice. Why couldn't the professor plug the hole in the boat?
  18. Grease Top Gun (both of those I know by heart, word for word, even dances for Grease) Steel Magnolias Twister
  19. I'm sure I'll catch heck for this, but anything with Adam Sandler in it.
  20. No, you can't just delete it from your phone. It's put in the "cloud" so you can't really get rid of it. And regarding the settings to not allow automatic downloads--mine was already set to not allow and it was on there anyway. Apple needs to stop right now.
  21. I'lll agree with Waterworld and add The Hangover to the list. The guy I was (notice the past tense there) dating at wanted to see it in the theater. It was bad when you had to show ID to buy the tickets for it, after never having been carded for an R movie before, AND they had a theater attendant at that specific theater to verify your ticket so kids couldn't buy for one movie and sneak into Hangover. That movie must be a guy thing because it was horrible. And how did it only get an R rating anyway? Another movie I'll never see again is Four Weddings and a Funeral, along with A Nightmare
  22. My thing with the Trayvon thing is this--if he was getting his head smacked on the ground by Trayvon and shot him, why wasn't Zimmerman covered in Trayvon's blood? If he shot him after the fight was over, then he's a cowardly killer who should have been locked up. How many times is this nutcase going to be allowed to terrorize people before he, or someone else, gets hurt or killed again?
  23. How long have they been doing that? I'm not a fan of U2 either, never did see the appeal, but I'll be dogged if it's on my phone too. Oh, and I checked, and my settings were already set to turn off automatic downloads, so I'm not sure how that happened. Apple and Facebook are seriously overstepping their boundaries. True, but why would you have a naked picture of yourself on your phone? Every time a new starlet has nude photos of themselves leaked I wonder why they do that. I don't like seeing my naked butt in the mirror after a shower, I'm sure not going to capture the image on film
