  1. I may be wrong, and someone correct me if so, but i did not see anything about old vehicles being exempt. So, if you have a '69 camaro or nice older harley, you would be paying every year until it changes ownership (or the law changes again). The problem with a teen "owning" a vehicle is you would not be able to get insurance at a reasonable rate for it. Conspiracy theorists would say it may be a side deal to get the citizens to start buying new cars.
  2. As long as you change the name on the title, then it is a change of ownership. If the car is jointly owned by both spouses on the title, then it would not work and would have to be changed to another trustworthy person. If there is a loan on the vehicle, then it would have to be refinanced / paid off (the bank would not let you change legal ownership). Mostly this new law is going to affect those of us that own our cars (not financed) and plan on keeping them a long time -- for example, classic restored cars or "farm trucks", etc.
  3. Just transfer the title to your spouse, child or a close relative (a trustworthy one)
  4. I think it has alot to do with the particular office. I have had nothing but bad visits to the office in marietta -- and no problems at all at the carrollton office.
  5. on a similar note -- 8/31/12 " ATLANTA (AP) — A federal jury has sided with a white man who claimed he suffered racial and gender discrimination when Fulton County officials chose a black woman over him for a job. The Fulton County Daily Report reports that jurors ordered the county to pay $300,000 to the man. 6. Good luck with that --- i have not seen a store yet that would let you (meaning a civilian) see video from any part of the store or parking lot unless you are in the court room with a civil suit or being accused of something Too many lawyers screwed that up years ago
  7. Yes, if you go to Big Lots food section, you will see all kinds of Larry's foods. The flavored mashed potatoes are good and his hamburger helper version is too
  8. They are changing the format --- "Amidst expectations the station will become CHR “Power 96.1“, Clear Channel Alternative/Active Rock “Project 9-6-1” WKLS Atlanta signed off a little after 7:00pm this evening. Following a farewell statement from Program Director/Afternoon host Chris Williams, the station paid tribute to the station’s 38 year heritage as a Rock station by signing off with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird”." here is a press release: "96.1 has been Atlanta’s rock destination since 1974. The Project Family is so proud to have carved out our own chapter in the rich legacy o
  9. For some reason, it is always cheaper over in acworth. I just got gas at a QT for $3.39 this morning
  10. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources would like your help in choosing the next designs for their popular wildlife license plates. Your vote will help the state Department of Natural Resources choose four new tags. Please answer the short questionnaire at the beginning of the survey so that we can get a general idea of who would purchase the wildlife tags. The voting will end September 15. The winning designs will be available in your local tag office for you to purchase shortly after that. Each tag will be $60 with an annual renewal of $35. link to survey: http://georgiawild
  11. addiction counselors discuss "cognitive emotive dissonance" as a technique to re-program yourself to stop your addictive behavior, whether it is drugs, alcohol, overeating, etc
  12. Old school trick --- If you have ever been audited, then it makes life alot easier if you have paper copies of important payments. Especially if you don't have medical or dental insurance. Electronic payments can be difficult to identify after 3 or 4 years when you need them.
  13. the master mechanic is smart a** lawyer now too
  14. It depends on which judge is presiding -- the jail house grapevine says one in particular is easier to deal with if you have a female lawyer on your side.....
  15. Yes, the nice lady that barely spoke english said i should write small checks under $10 to several locations that use chex systems in order to build my "profile" in their system. Otherwise, i would not be able to write the 1 or 2 checks a month for greater than $200 that i had currently been doing (there are certain transactions that i want to keep a paper copy of). So, a conspiracy theorist would say they are trying to send a business that uses chex systems extra customers, etc
  16. be careful, some paints and varnishes are toxic to birds and wild life. You are usually safe with water-based polyurethanes, wood lacquers, or natural sealants like linseed oil
  17. The legislature is gradually making it more difficult for drivers under 21, especially those under 18. Every time there is a deadly accident with a young driver involved, there are those out there that push for more laws.
  18. I had a problem with chex systems last year. The orthodontist (that advertises here) had been taking our checks with multiple kids for years and then last year they hired a new bookkeeper and she started them on this chex systems program. They suddenly would not take my monthly payment checks any longer. I had to bring in cash from that point on or use a credit card. The nameless orthodontist and his office staff were no help. I have had the same checking account for 5 years, 700 credit, never bounced a check, etc. I write approx 6 or 7 checks a month mainly to the utilites, etc. Wh
  19. My earlier statement was correct and still holds true --- "It is a public street and they have as much right to be there as you do" If they cannot park there, then the homeowners in that subdivision cannot park there either.....
  20. It is a public street and they have as much right to be there as you do, even if they don't live in that subdivision. Now, that being said, you should report suspicious vehicles to the local law enforcement
  21. Boot Hill --- Stevie Ray Vaughan
  22. tell that to this orlando man (andrew scott) when you see him. link: http://news.yahoo.com/video/deputies-shoot-kill-man-knocking-163819466.html
  23. i am curious ---- exactly how did they do a "great job preventing accidents and injuries." ? --- there is always an idiot in the crowd
  24. do you have any obama signs?
  25. OPEC controls the prices per barrel indirectly via production (more supply/less supply). The Obama meeting was an aggreement for saudi to send more oil down the pipe (which can take a month or more to start affecting the price). It is a tactic to have sub $3 gas across the country in time for the election. Here in georgia, that could really mean $2.30 to $2.60. Just another way to try to grandstand & buy votes. If re-elected, then it will be back to business as usual.
