  1. yes, i can say that i would have shot him also in the same situation with him inside the house however, i cannot imagine how unstable a household can that be when they go hide when a stranger is ringing the door bell? (even if it was aggressively) --- and calling the husband first (seeking approval?) before calling 911 if she thought there was a real threat to herself and family? if they are that paranoid, then they need to then build a panic room / safe room for them to run to
  2. No, my original statement was, if she or the child had answered the door, then most likely the burglar would have came up with some excuse and went on his way. By hiding in a crawl space the situation was escalated to a shooting. The guy obviously did not know they were there because he was surprised also. He had been taking his time rummaging the house before he made it to their hiding place. --- just another from the 'hood casing a nice neighborhood. Since she already had a gun close by, why not answer the door? The worst case scenario would have been a home invasion and she would
  3. No, i have worked in the prison system for a few years and can say the majority of burglars are cowards that stay away from confrontations with anyone and like to rob houses and businesses when no one is there. Those that commit home invasions are different animals, they know there are people there and are better prepared for the confrontation. --- completely different intentions. was she scared? ... yes was she protecting herself and children? ... yes was she justified? ... yes but it is still easy to shoot someone only armed with a crowbar
  4. every occupation has it's few bad apples ----- sometimes, as in this case, the close-knit club / good 'ol boy mentality system of law enforcement takes a few years to finally weed them out
  5. And, if they had chosen to open the door or let him know they were home when the burglar rang the door bell, he would have probably went along his way with some lame excuse about looking for a wrong address, etc. Burglaries and home invasions are 2 completely different types of criminals. He did not know they were home and was robbing the place and then came across them in hiding --- simple as that. But then again, the georgia "stand your ground" law should cover this.
  6. ------------------ all kroger gas stations have "free" air. The cashier has a remote (looks like a garage door remote) that turns it on if you ask them. They are told to only turn it on for people that have bought gas there, but i have found that all you have to do i s ask.....................
  7. Well, maybe waco was not a great example.......... But just because you have not had multiple assailants coming toward you with weapons does not mean it will not happen in the future. Just look at the border towns in texas, new mexico and arizona. The mexcian drug wars are starting to spill over into the U.S. with the home invasions and ranchers killed on their land, etc. Assault weapons may not be necessary in paulding county, but there are areas in this country that you would not want to go to without one.
  8. you mean a professional that would get kick-backs for referring clients to certain homes over other ones ?
  9. just some observations from last night : it was not clear where the tickets were being sold and which attractions used tickets and which were free too many police (& police explorers )standing around doing nothing except blocking roads ----- for one example, many people were trying to cross hwy92 on foot in the traffic and these clowns ( 2 or 3 hiram p.d.) were just standing there "guarding" the road block, not bothering to stop traffic and help the groups to cross the highway
  10. from the story -- " touching the woman on the bottom does not qualify as sexual harassment" it really is that simple, unless you consider your arse a sexual object, zoo.....................
  11. there is no such thing as "stand your ground" in a police state
  12. I am not sure whether to feel sorry for the girl / victim for getting shot or the officers that shot at least 7 times and missed her with most of them .
  13. As far as the Petraeus situation goes, i had always thought a "social liaison" was another name for a high dollar hooker
  14. i went to spokeo and found very little about me and my family other than the house value and the blurred address and phone number, which i guess is a good thing.
  15. that would be a courtesy for them to pull over and let the line pass by. the speed limit is just that -- a maximum limit. other than the federal interstate system and "obstructing traffic" on secondary roads, there is no minimum speed limit
  16. the police have posed as utility workers for many years during investigations
  17. the point was -- since individuals were talking all grandiose about a local business, what was he doing different than the rest of the people selling firewood ? isn't it the same wood sitting on the ground for 6+ months drying out after being split ?
  18. did he guarantee there was no mold / fungus or termites in the wood you brought into the house?
  19. and so, if you found a sack full of cash, you would not touch it, not count it, but would still call to report it?
  20. so...... does this mean when alabama needs help from storm damage (ice storms / tornados), the union crews are not willing to come down and help them ?
  21. Trick or treating is a community thing just like christmas caroling, it has nothing to do with subdivisions. Also, there are still alot of "farmers" in the community with 5 acres or more and the nearest neighbor is a few hundred feet away (don't assume they are only kids from another subdivision)
  22. I was just waiting for this log truck to fall over on the left side -- hwy 61 & 278
  23. " The government's most widely publicized unemployment rate measures only those who are out of a job and currently looking for work. It does not count discouraged potential employees who have quit looking, nor those who are underemployed — wanting to work full-time but forced to work part-time." "For that count, the government releases a separate number called the "U-6," which provides a more complete tally of how many people really are out of work." from CNBC: http://www.cnbc.com/id/48468748/Real_Unemployment_Rate_Shows_Far_More_Jobless from the washington post : http://www
