  1. I am not trying to make this about one race or another, just dealing with the facts / pointing out the statistics --- georgia has the highest number blacks in prison than any other state by percentage ---- 29% of the general population is black / 64% of the prison population is. Ohio is second with 12% and 52% link: www.gibbsmagazine.com/blacks_in_prisons.htm "Islam is the fastest growing religion in prison populations" Link: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43414376/ns/politics/t/hearings-focus-islamic-radicalization-among-prison-inmates/#.Twd0YFZS2W8 And from the same msnbc story : "
  2. the correlation is there are more blacks in the prisons (by percentage) than any other race, they take up the muslim religion for many reasons including the social aspect of it. There are alot blacks attending the services, but when it comes to the more difficult aspects of it, like ramadan fasting (approx august), the numbers of prisoners attending tend to go down . Also, i could discuss their draw toward muslim/islam being related to malcolm x, the black panther party, etc. --- as far as the black populations in the georgia prison system, just tryto get an answer as to why the depar
  3. At the local jail level the inmate population mimics the local community (in religion, in race/ethnic, etc), But the federal prison system does not place inmates near their "home" area, so it is a more accurate statistic as to religious preferences. Also, many inmates will use "religion" as an excuse to get extra privileges, get out of their cell more often, get money sent in to them, etc.
  4. where else can the average female make a couple hundred dollars a day (or night)? you could work longer hours for min wage at some jobs and have less self respect
  5. I really like the part where the first thing on their (georgia) website is: "This is not an insurance policy. This plan is not under the jurisdiction of the insurance laws of the State of Georgia."
  6. it is mixed metal with probably the most valuable being the stainless steel, depending on if it is a gas furnace or electric. If you are closer to douglasville, then either northwest recycling near bankhead & hwy 5 -- 678-715-1114 or Newell recycling -- on bankhead between lithia and douglasville (770) 942-9290 last i checked, the price was around 10 cents a pound
  7. if walmart is your "neighborhood-to-watch", then you need to get another hobby or you could put on a cape and be everyone's super hero
  8. From the state website: "State law HB160 tacks-on another two-hundred-dollar state-fee for any driver convicted of speeding at 75-or-more on any two-lane roads.. OR convicted of speeding at 85-and-over anywhere in Georgia. Those new state fees will be in addition to any local fines already in effect in the jurisdiction where the speeding offense occurs. " Like i said, you are dealing with 2 government agencies here -- the local county fine and then the state gets the paperwork. When the state gets the copy of the citation and it says " 2 lane roadway" and you plea out to anything over
  9. Although this press release by cobb was about an electronic skimmer attached to a gas pump, keep in mind anytime your card leaves your sight it can be copied by a smart phone and card reader in 2 seconds or less (they can be bought online for under $40) -- maybe happened at a restaurant or at a convenience store if a clerk takes the card under a counter to scan it (especially those with older registers that do not have a scanner built in and have a separate machine).
  10. You don't want to plea guilty to that one as written on the citation. Gonna have to go to court to get the judge to change the circumstances. They may quote you a fine over the phone or online and then you pay it and think all is ok --- but when it hits the dmv in atlanta, that is when they got you. They do the same thing with the driving without insurance tickets, people think it is just a ticket and show proof in court & pay the fine and you are done with the county, etc. About a month later, the letter comes from the state saying your license is suspended, etc. There are 2 entities

  15. nothing a little county time would take care of --- in a cell or picking up trash along the road
  16. Be aware, could be coming to a town near you --- hoodlum teens video taping themselves trashing stores started in tampa and seems to be gaining popularity. A couple of video links: www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/local/hillsborough/teens-trash-stores-post-video-online-12192011

  20. I would not say it was a dumb question -- it is another example of how some businesses try to make a dollar by any means necessary -- even if they have to try to deny responsibility for the rocks dropping off their trucks. It is good to educate the public about these examples of deception. Of course, there are the clowns out there that would say we should just file a claim with our own auto insurance to get the windshield replaced.
  21. if people wanted tacky-looking christmas lights that reminded them of las vegas, then they could go with LED too

  23. from the news story : "Despite those gains, Georgia had 19,900 fewer jobs than in November of last year, when the unemployment rate was 10.4 percent, the labor department said. Economists often say the combination of fewer jobs and a lower unemployment rate — November 2011 vs. November 2010 — can be attributed to job seekers dropping out of the labor force because they’ve become too discouraged to look for work. Those not looking for work are not counted as unemployed." Yes, and what they are not saying is those that have run out of unemployment benefits are not counted either
  24. Over the last 2 years, property value has dropped 50% (according to the tax notice) prop tax dropped from $2100 to $1350 home insurance (allstate) went up from $1700 to $2400
