  1. you are not paying for my health care, but it troubles me to see that you seem to be more willing to pay for health care for someone in a third world country than the person that lives in the same neighborhood that you do.
  2. the numbers on the back of the box on the label are maximum use. it is better to get a kill-a-watt (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882715001) and find out exactly how much a device is using
  3. yep it is just terrible to provide medical care for us citizens. it much better to pay for health care for people in the third world /sarcasm mode off
  4. i asked this question almost 48 hours ago, and no body has responded. should i assume that paulding county does not announce these checkpoint, and therefor they are illegal?
  5. congratulations...you just won the prize for using the word "dude" more times in a single post than i have every seen on a message board in my 30 years of being on the internet
  6. i can think of several cases throughout history where a government or their employess\workers have done things wrong and\or illegally and the citizens have turned a blind eye out of convenience or because it didn' t effect them. the long term end results were never good
  7. 40 whole cents?????? that is way to much. and i agree that direct x can be an issue, but since about the only game i play on the computer is chess it has not been an issue. i also agree about getting to the age where i say ooh that looks cool, and then lose interest
  8. yep...it is better to not spend the 20 cents now for a blank dvd, and pay dell $115 later, just because you were too lazy to create the recovery disk on the other hand, i would have formatted the drive and ran linux from the start
  9. i've worked in IT for a little better than 30 years now. when did the kids stop calling them motherboards?
  10. how did i get "quoted" on most of these comments?
  11. dell still sells systems with linux, but their tech support is marginal at best. i will say that i am sorry that you still are apparently doing end user support......most computer problems are id ten t or pebcak errors
  12. microsoft has been asinine since the mid 80's with their licensing. and as far as tech support goes, try calling dell and telling them that you run linux.....in that case there is no tech support. currently my primary box is running linux, running virtualbox images for xp, windows 7, and leopard for the mac for client support. dell's india based tech support can't help me if i have a problem.
  13. did you watch the commercial on youtube that started this thread? guess what, that was a copyright violation too
  14. a link to the actual ad would have been helpful. either way it really doesn't matter to me. the "tv" shows i watch i get via torrents anyway, commercial free
  15. a better question is whether the dui checkpoint isn't unconstitutional to begin with. i know that this was ruled on back in 1990 (Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz), but the key thing to be taken from that case was judge rehnquist saying that an individuals constitutional rights can be ignored, if it is to the benefit of the government. paraphrasing his comments, you basically have no rights if the government changes it's mind at any time another question is that these checkpoint have to be announced in advance to be legal. i have never seen this information announced for pauldin
  16. hitachi bought the rights to the ibm deskstar drives....they were nicknamed deathstars for a legitimate reason you can still build a better system for less than what you can buy from dell, unless you feel that you have to run a ms operating system......
  17. i had an account with betcris for years, never had a problem with them i stopped using them several years ago, after banking laws were changed in this country in 2006 it is now a federal offense to transfer or receive funds from a sports book. of course there are ways around this, but if you are talking less than 100 dollars most of the 100 would have to be used for transfer fees just not worth the risk in my opinion. but powerball tickets instead

    Ghosts

having lived in 2 haunted houses over the years, i have learned that telling the ghosts "you are scaring me please go away" works.
  19. i might be interested in this. please let me know manufacturer\model
  20. i just want to say thank you to several of the previous bigoted posters, who reminded me why i am glad to be moving out of this area. y'all make sure you use clorox on your kkk outfits . 'kay
  21. i would be willing to bet that 90% or more of the people on this board didn't have the internet in 1991 (or even knew what it was for that matter) times have changed in 20 years
  22. even if this is 100% government funded (which i don't think it is) i would rather see the money spent on programs like this, which might actually help people, than a lot of the other things the government spends money on that is just a waste
  23. you make some good points, and if nothing else perhaps we got some people thinking about their home defense scenario. one thing in favor of a shotgun over a taurus judge is cost. you can get a very good used shotgun for about half the cost of the judge. i would rather see someone on a budget buy a shotgun that they can afford now, rather than have no weapon at all
  24. we have very different philosophies when it come to this situation. if i think my house is being broken into, calling 911 frankly is not an option, unless i was very lucky and there was a leo very close. in most cases i would probably be looking at at 10-15 minute response time i have 2 pretty large inside dogs, and keep the doors locked. it is very doubtful that the invader will make into the house without me knowing exactly where they are coming in. the dogs will normally let me know when anyone pulls in the drive way. if they continue and do make it into the house, they probably wo
