  1. 5 yrs ago when we lived in Mooresville NC. It was on the Charlotte news and in the local paper. A cop actually followed the guy who would hang out at the light. Watched him get in the Bentley and followed him to his house where the arrest for fraud was made. They arrest them all the time in NC, its a huge problem in the Charlotte area

I've wondered that as well. We live in Burnt Hickory area a couple miles from a HUGE Angus cattle ranch. Every once in a while they have a live band playing I'm guessing for a party. I swear its Travis Tritt since he lives in the area b/c the songs played are his and it sounds just like him. Doesn't bother us b/c us and the neighbors just sit out on the driveways drink beer and listen to some good tunes. It is pretty loud though to travel that far. Wonder how the people that live closer feel.
  3. Wonder if they can get SCMODS online?? But the light was yellow, sir.
  4. I hate to say it, but don't fall for it unless you have a very good gut feeling. These guys are ALWAYS at sporting events (NASCAR races) etc hitting you up as soon as you get out of the car. When we lived in NC and would go to the races at Lowes a guy use to do this saying he was poor deaf and mute. Come to find out the guy drove a Mercedes Benz and made over 6000 a month. Also why I aam skeptic on donating to people on off ramps on the interstates. Same deal in Mooresville, NC. Guy stood at the stop light asking for money. Cops arrested him one day and turned out he parked his Bentley
  5. Biscuits and Sausage Gravy would be better. Just plain biscuits doesn't appeal to me
  6. Salvation Army doesn't even service Paulding. They service the counties around us though. Wish there were some shelters b/c some of the empty houses in our neighborhood are being used by drifters etc. Police have been out here in our neck of the woods in Burnt Hickory area a few times. Its very unnerving. Have also heard stories from others of the same thing happening in their neighborhoods but then there are some that post on paulding.com that feel residents of neighborhoods shouldn't care whats going on in their subdivision. I'm sure I'll get my butt chewed by someone.
  7. My step mom is a manager at a SEARS store in Indiana and she says the Hiram location is on the "very possible to close" list. She says there are 4 on that list for GA, but couldn't remember the other locations down here. Its not on any list but my mother inlaws's in PA is shutting down, which is very unfortunate because that is the closest retail store to her unless she wants to drive 40 miles.
  8. Saw a bobcat last year in Burnt Hickory area. Had something laying in the corner of our yard in the shadows. Spotlight got the eyes but was a little to far out for a body. Thought it might be the neighbor's bassett, but there is no way he jumped our fence. Went to see what it was w/ my flashlight, no sooner did I get 5 ft from the deck I heard growling and backed off. Let it be and went to bed. Next night we walked out on our deck and as soon as we got out the door a tan body leaped over the fence, and must have snagged it b/c I had never heard such a growl in the wild. Sounded like a l
  9. Just read the FB posting from the sherrifs office. Some of the comments say that the rumor started on here then went on FB. Lookout
  10. Just saying a lot of people still want answers so they aren't on edge. Especially the direct neighbors. SORRY I peed in your Wheaties. And yes when a LEO tells you to be VERY cautious and alert at the time, that tells me of possible danger. By the way I do trust the police.
  11. Well, a lot of folks in our neighborhood are still left in the dark about what happened the week before Thanksgiving in our neighborhood. Female found passed away in the woods after being there for a few days. I have found out the details, but a lot of folks are still in the dark and VERY nervous. The night the body was found we spoke with a Detective about things we saw prior to the find and he told us something different than what the real story is. Which got us VERY edgy that night. We have had quite a few issues in our neighborhood on Cartersville Road the past couple of months. So I ca
  12. They are near us MsFlyFisher. Neighbor and I saw a pack running through the pasture the other day. Heard they are rapidly migrating in large numbers from the south. Be careful.
  13. I hope you don't drive a Chevy or a Dodge. A Toyota and Kia are more American than those two.
  14. Oh to be in High School again. We share an empty lot w/ trees in it with our neighbor. A few yrs back they built a tree house. Now the high school kids use it. Hmm wonder what they are doing? Its hilarious when a kid has taken his girl in there at night and I tease them by telling the wife loud enough when we're on our deck to get the gun. All I have is a BB gun for squirrels.
  15. FINALLY!!!!!!! The last night of leftovers.
  16. Thats exactly what I thought, especially if they flipped. I got a Nixle alert about it the other night so it must have been pretty bad. Kind of hard to apologize for tearing up a yard if your in intensive care and I'm sure its the last thing on the family's mind at the moment. Also being accused of speeding, could have been something else, ran off the road, avoiding an animal etc. Police report will have most answers. Hopefully you can get it fixed.
  17. No, Kmart bought Sears for 11bil back in 04.
  18. Still trying to figure out how Kmart bought Sears. Considering at the time Kmart was getting ready to fold.
  19. Yotes are horrible and very large in packs up here in the Burnt Hickory Community. Need to have a mass hunt or trapping weekend like they have in northern states. These guys are getting way out of hand. We were getting a straggler or two in the hood a night now we are getting whole packs running throughout. Now have been seeing in the day (not unusual but not common) having small children it is a little nerve racking taking them outside, heck a coyote will take down an adult let alone a child. I think it was last year closer to ATL that a woman was dragged out of her yard by one.
  20. Someone hurting/taking my kids and dying
  21. For the past week our Internet stops responding after about 10 minutes it usually takes about a half hour before it stops responding. If you end up getting phone service, be prepared to have problems contacting people up the east coast. We have been working with techs since July getting ours fixed. Something with an outside source who Comcast buys monthly service from to use the lines, keeps shutting off the switch from the Southeast. We do get a credit every month, but it is annoying. At first they tried saying it was our phone but don't have problems calling anywhere else. Then they deci
  22. Since I'm unemployeed and my wife is busting her butt to keep us afloat, I do surveys to get Amazon.com gift cards. If it wasn't for them and a new friend on P.com, Christmas would have been slim pickens. Need to add a VERY special Thank You to Mrs. G. One of these days we will be back on our feet and be able to give like we use to be able to. Can't wait to show our kids how good it makes you feel to give.
  23. Absolutely AWESOME people are generous enough to do this. However, I also think back to what Neil Bortz and Clark Howard said the other day. How do these people know that they are paying for layaway for a family that could really use the help or for a wealthy family that puts things on layaway so that its not just taking up space at the house. I would hope that it helps a family in need instead of the latter.
  24. You guys need to watch out for those phone calls saying they are the bank and that your account has been compromised. They talked about that on FoxAlive news not even 2 weeks ago about that. We have 2 banks. Use to get phone calls saying they were the bank and that our card had been compromised were on a supposed "hot list" and would ask for info. Of course would NEVER give it. Called our banks and was informed by both that the bank would call from the local branch and not from an 800 number to inform us of a compromise if the system noticed a purchase of lets say Hiram then another one w
