  1. hhhmmmm.... tea party was accused of the bombs found in time square a year ago.... but was later found to be islamic extremist.... I will hold out my opinions until I get some FACTS!!
  2. have had 2 crockpots of spaghetti sauce cooking all day... have the teen boy putting noodles on for me now
  3. we use it in a ventilated area... but good point... if you use it indoors make sure you have a well ventilated area (we set ours next to the fireplace when we are not burning logs)
  4. uummm... I have a job...I own my own business and I have a son at SPHS... I know what I am going to do on monday... unless the weather drastically changes he is staying home and so am I... hearing that the school is closed is merely a formality... and I hate to tell you this but we all live in the "real world"... we all just have different places in it... and I for one do not draw a "government check" as I am sure most here dont as well... so ha!!

  6. we were at Ingles at Nebo/Dallas Nebo about 3 hours ago... they were busy but not packed and still had plenty on the shelves
  7. that is a good idea... stock up on playing cards and board games... we were playing a really fun one at my sister's house the other day... apple to apple or something like that... everyone thinks about heat and food but forgets about things to do!! books yarn and knitting needles we are planning on moving the furniture around in our bedroom... something we have been putting off and can do when the power is off a friend of mine just bought a big bag of cloth... she is going to be piecing together quilts this week... if you have a fireplace dont forget the marshmellows... the kids will love
  8. so how many of us remember having to drive all the way to Marietta (KMart at the big chicken or Big Apple on Powder Springs Rd at Sandtown Rd) to by groceries?? then the first grocery store in the county... what was it?? It was at Paulding Plaza.... it wasnt Ingles to start with... it was something else then went out of business and Ingles opened there then moved down to where it is now. It was next to Ben Franklins department store... anyway... just remembering back to the older grocery stores here in the county.... showing my age I guess...

  11. the lady with the milk at ingles might have been me.... but it wasnt because of the weather... I just found several gallons marked down cheap and we go through a lot of milk in our house

I think it is the law that you have to get tp, milk, and bread beyond that I got hot dogs and buns (if no power we can roast them on the fireplace) I can get to my camping coffee pot in the garage so can heat water on the fireplace if needed so I got ramen noodles for the teen and instant coffee for us I also got the stuff to make spaghetti sauce (you can cook noodles easy on a fireplace and heating up sauce is easy also) we also got some gas for the generator to keep the refrigerator cold if the power goes out books... we have several to read... luckily all 3 of us like to read go ah
  13. Ingals at Nebo and Dallas Nebo was not crowded and had plenty of food this afternoon after I picked the teen up from school... we got what we needed and the required tp, milk, and bread... my hubby is from england and always laughs when I do this... but hey it is tradition!!

WSB weather is advising to get in enough supplies to plan for 3-4 days without power..... already have the makings for spaghetti sauce, hot dogs and buns to roast over the fireplace... bringing a big supply of wood in tomorrow... have gas for the generator... plenty of milk and tp.... all ready to go... with all this planning it will probably hit south of us!!!!!!!!

I think in this case it should be said... don't shoot the messenger!! it might be helpful if someone had time to explain to those of us who don't know the hierarchy of the school board who makes the decisions and a little about what goes in to the decision. then maybe we can understand a little better. thank you kim for posting what you were able when you were able.   17. with the cold if the air is still then the roads freeze over but if the wind blows, the front coming in is dryer and will dry the roads even if they are cold. doesnt seem to make sense I know but it does happen. wsbtv tonight was talking about it as well. I have seen it happen in the past and had forgotten about it until they brought it up.

  22. getting pretty slick on pine shadows. also a limb is down in the road on lindsey lake. the trees and power lines are looking pretty heavy out there so would keep an eye on those, especially when the temp drops more. the car showed it is about 32 out there.
  23. amazing the places those trucks can turn around. we are on a cul de sac and there is a truck that turns around on a regular basis here. he goes down, turns, and is back out with less trouble than most cars!!
