  4. I love the Melting Pot... fondue.... if you have never been, you get your choice of cheese dips with things to dip in... then your choice of broth dips for your meats and veggies... then choccy dips for your deserts... they bring it and fix it at your table (but unlike the japanese places, you dont have to share your table with strangers) lots to eat... private atmosphere... informative and friendly staff.... there is one in kennesaw just off barrett parkway
  5. I lived in the houston/galveston area for 10 years... august is the worst but if you can deal with here then the rest of the year is not so bad... I have to say I did have to get used to the wind not blowing all the time when I moved back to paulding... I still catch myself missing the constant breeze... figure that it is about 10 degrees warmer there than here at any given time... and the 10 years I lived there we had snow flurries once and a frost less than 10 times.... but the year I moved back they had an inch of snow for christmas... first time they had more than just a flurry in like 75
  6. we gave up everything except internet... we get internet at $35 per month with comcast then we have a big HD antenna for local broadcast ($75 from home depot) and got a computer specifially for the tv (gateway computer with tv feeds on it... about $600 from microcenter)... everything else we go through netflix, hulu, and the stations website (with so many people doing this they are showing more and more on the internet).... at first it was a little adjustment but now we will bring up going back from time to time... and a few seconds later we are going.... nah... not worth it.... and we made u
  7. aahhh.... my hubby is from england and he gets so upset over what people here call shepherds pie... according to him it is only shepherds pie if it is made with ground lamb... if it is made with ground beef it is cottage pie... but then again he says is words funny too!!

  9. OH NO!!! DH is now an aries!!! my first hubby was an aries!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. someplace rural on the coast? try the coast of texas... mostly rural there and winters are next to nothing... the houston/galveston area has about a couple of weeks of winter... and usually that is spread out to a few days here and a few days there.... now august gets rather brutal with heat and humidity but if you can handle that then the rest is not bad at all.... think going christmas shopping in shorts and thanksgiving picnics on the beach!!
  11. I have a friend who does not have insurance and not a lot of money. She does not qualify for medicaid. She is having a health issue (non-emergency) that she would like to see a doctor about. She has done a little research and if she is diagnosed with what we all think she has, she can get generic medication at one of the grocery stores (perscription) for a price she can afford without insurance. Is there a place I can send her to see a doctor with no insurance and she can hopefully afford? She does not want a handout... just a place that is not horribly expensive...
  12. we just came in from heading out to the store.... there were lots of puddles of melted ice in the road (Nebo Rd)... it was okay to ride through now but there will be sheets of ice in the morning... there is just not enough wind or warm enough to evaporate it... especially in the shade....
  13. the best home made hot choccy in the world: gallon of milk (a little less if you like it extra chocolatey) can of eagle brand milk can of hersheys syrup heat it up... then after hot add a tablespoon of vanilla when you serve add a squirt of whipped cream and sprinkles..... even my adult kids (one of whom is a chef) goes nuts over it.... one person I told this recipe to adds something to make it a little spicy... not sure what as I dont like it spicy it is very rich so you cant drink it all the time but it sure is nice for special occasions (first fire of the season...
  14. I usually use the plastic bags... (dont hate... I have a reason!!)... I have a vending booth at various festivals during spring/summer/fall and will use the bags to put the purchases in.... so if you come to my booth and buy something then you walk away with a Kroger or Ingles or whereeverIshoppedlast bag keeps me from buying a box of bags at Sams
  15. my hubby and I both used to be runners and we were going to start going to the park 4-5 times per week to start walking and then running again.... would not mind running in the snow so much.... but never really learned to ice skate....

  20. only child... but grew up in a house with extended family.... grandparents, mom, myself, a couple of aunts and some cousins... and in that I was the spoild brat baby of the family!! I still call my older female cousin my "sister"...
  21. we did download a test... was rather difficult... you had to know the ammendments by number and name... we have been memorizing those... and had some history questions... I hope it is just those questions.... I just asked those to him and he answered them all without even having to think.... (but then he did laugh at how crazy easy our driving tests are here.....)
  22. thanks!! and we have tons of stories to tell about the immigration process!! sshheessshhhhhhhh...... never realized what a twisted mess it is until we started trying to work our way through it!!! if I ever get a chance to sit down with someone in goverment... I have a ton of ideas on how to fix it that would make it... not easier... but more understandable!!!
