  1. Something else, if cars stop to allow you to cross (required by law in many situations), say in front of Walmart or Kroger or similar, DIRECTLY CROSS the street. Don't walk at a diagonal cause you parked "way over there". By walking at a diagonal it takes longer and now more people are coming out of the store wanting to cross and all those cars are sitting there burning gas. And cross with the group, pick your feet up and move like you mean it, stop shuffling along.
  2. If I'm on a phone call in a public place, I move aside and away from people so as not to disturb them. This etiquette seems to be lost on many. The other day I was in Target trying to find a certain SPF lotion and this woman stood right behind me, and I mean close, talking on the phone. "Ah-huh, Ah-huh, Ah-huh, Ah-huh...." it went on and on. (I tried my best to work up a good cough and turn toward her and let it go but I couldn't get a good'n worked up). Then there's the people with those Bluetooth devices that'll look right at you and then talk and get upset when you answer them. And the
  3. I guess different people see the use of facebook differently and that's their business. But on my page I treat it like my living room and I'm having guests over. Social gathering equates to a social network and the same rules apply, I mean why wouldn't they. At my social gathering its considered impolite to talk about sex, religion, politics, or to gossip endlessly about other people. Those that undertake these topics are asked to leave and aren't invited back. And I wouldn't expect someone to show up and get in someone's face and announce "Hey I just saw your kid dead in the street", that wou
  4. Almost like the scene out of Pulp Fiction......
  5. Last Warehouse I managed when something was missing it was always the guys in the white collars playing with the numbers trying to line their own pockets. And who said the employees were complaining? Kids get fed, roof over your head, a few cash dollars in your pocket....
  6. But bank owned property shouldn't get a free pass, if anything they should be held to a higher standard. A crappy looking property not only brings down the value of that property but other properties in the area, most of which have bank owned notes.
  7. According to the Paulding County publication "Who to contact for Assistance" trash after the dumping occurred complaints go to the Marshalls office. 30b. Dumping Illegally - (after the act of) on private or public property. State Law 16-7-42, 16-7-56 Marshal 770-443-9768
  8. Plus should you forget a number or who you just called you can contact the government and they'll have all that info saved in a massive taxpayer supported database.....sorry, couldn't resist considering recent news events.
  9. My wife ran Taylor Farm Park this morning and not one but two people at the park warned her that there was a dog incident in the park yesterday. One said dogs chased a lady and the other said dogs attacked a lady. Can't find anything in the news. Anyone heard something? As my wife began her final lap she saw an elderly couple get out of their car with their dog. She said the guy bent down like he was going to put on a leash but he only petted the dog which then ran in front of my wife almost tripping her. Where can I buy pepper spray? The good kind that'll cost a dog owner massive vet bil
  10. I saw a Walmart add last night for a basic home phone service that's only $9.XX a month. I wasn't paying enough attention to get the name of the thing but I just did a search and they have something called Straight Talk, listed as $15, and Clark Howard has it on his web site.
  11. Last nights CBS news led with this story, you can bet it's not limited to just Verizon, then later followed with a news story about the President meeting with a Chinese official and they would, among other things, discuss the problem of the Chinese hacking into American corporate and political computers (apparently the Obama and McCain campaign computers were hacked) to obtain information......How do you justify that? How can you sit with a straight face and have this kind of discussion with the same blood on your hands?
  12. If she was going to yell "discrimination" she should have done it when she was told no. Wearing the feather simply means she broke a rule she knew about and that decision resulted in the known consequences. But, "She was denied, and was told she had to sign a dress code contract to walk at graduation. Ramer did not sign it, and wore the feather in her graduation ceremony anyway." Why was she allowed to walk if she didn't sign the contract? Seems like someone was wanting a bit of media attention here.
  13. Shows up at our motorcycle rallies. What I like is the Apple Pie, shine with cinnamon and apple, just like apple pie. Then there's Goonballs, peaches soaked in a jar, and then there were these blackberries soaked, I was told, "don't chem'em, just swallow", real harsh. Then there was this stuff in Florida, it was bad, almost pure alcohol.
  14. If Wellstar runs all the hospitals in the area, when you put your need for healthcare back out to bid, who'll bid on you? Are you going to drive to Atlanta for a checkup?
  15. Wonder what their plan is for out of system care? Hurt on vacation and that sort of thing?
  16. Hadn't see a one....yet. Last outbreak I found them up the Appalachians (TN, NC, VA) but only a few here.
  17. Absolutely! All the bad publicity that Craigslist has received and someone would not only meet a stranger alone but get into his car and drive away? Never, ever meet someone alone, male or female. Go to a well-lit public place, take pictures, if you get a name on the phone do a google search or check the address on a tax assessors web site. Look for oddities or unmatched info. If they have a dealers tag on their car don't stop. Never show the cash until you've seen the merchandise. And if it seems to be to good to be true, it probably is.
  18. Douglas County passed the requirement because a few people were basically running year-round yard sales at their homes which equates to the property being a business and not a residence.
  19. Several years ago I had a guy come to my front door one morning asking if all from the accident were OK and I said what accident. Sometime in the night a car had left the roadway, plowed through a stone planter which blasted decorative block all over the front yard and the car ended up in the neighbors drive way. The driver left the scene. This accident occurred because the guy was drunk (he wasn't charged because by the time the police got ahold of him they couldn't prove it) and because he was speeding. Sure telling kids to stay away from the road is smart but if a car is speeding and le
  20. My 2 year old wears a swimmy at the pool but he's only in the big pool for maybe an hour or less all day. He's usually in the little pool and it gets dumped and refilled daily. Older kids are in the big pool all day and some I rarely see ever get out so it's those that I would worry about. Then there's the drunk adults.....
  21. This is a chronic problem all over the county, neighborhood streets as well as main thoroughfares. 278 is a drag strip, Bill Carruth is like shooting fish in a barrel for the police (yet people still run 50-70 mph on that road), the street in front of my house is a cut-through and is posted 35 yet they've stopped people doing 70, I've been passed 4 times on the double yellow line on this street. First thing people need to do is stop flashing headlights to warn others of the speed trap. Let the idiots get caught and pay a few tickets and increased insurance premiums.
  22. Have some friends in the county that put theirs on the market and it sold in just a few days at asking price. Investors bought it and I think they were from overseas somewhere.
  23. I believe when Tom Brokaw coined the term "Greatest Generation" he wasn't defining it by a certain war but by a certain generational time and all that happened during that period. The generation that included WWII also included the Great Depression.
