We got rid of Dish 8 months ago and went with a 2 year contract with Comcast for internet and TV, with box rentals and tax the bill comes to $77 a month. The kids get the channels they like and we can rent movies on line or through On Demand. I'm not a fan of Comcast and their service but they haven't dropped signal once in that time. Dish would drop due to weather and occasionally there would be system updates that would take several minutes to complete. They too kept bumping their price, we were over $100 a month when we dropped it. And then there's the hidden charges, they tried repeatedly

The Krogers on Brownsville and Ridge have changed their signs to read "About 15 items", I guess it depends on what the definition of "About" is.

They've been running one on ESPN for Sportscenter that has the Georgia Bulldog mascot spilling a cup of water in the office break room and he bends down to clean it up. Matt Stafford comes seeing the dog bent over the puddle and he says "Bad dog! Outside!".

HELP! I need an expert geologist, or someone with ...

Limestone, which is predominately calcium, dissolves. One of the factors in Florida is that they pump so much from groundwater that it creates underground streams which eats away the limestone creating cavities. You can't tell where these cavities are and eventually the overlying rock structure will collapses. With tectonics, it's not the type of rock as much as it's the shifting plates that can leave a void that can eventually weather or collapse during another shaking event. In mining you take out a stratification layer or host rock hoping that you leave enough columns in place to support t -

My BS is in Geology. Sinkholes are easy, create a hole underground (erosion, mining, degradation, tectonics, change the water table...) and eventually the overlying sediments/structure will collapse. -
The problem with drop sided cribs is that the movable side can dislodge from the rails at the bottom and that leaves a small space between the side and the mattress. A child can become trapped in that narrow space and suffocate. Enough died that they banned the design.

Every yard sale I've ever had was conducted with one simple purpose in mind, to get the junk out of my garage and into yours. That being said, the price of everything was negotiable and I'd even undercut their offer to motivate the buyer to buy more junk...I mean treasure. Rarely did I sell anything that had real value, that stuff was better sold on craigslist or similar. My yard sales rarely made it through the second day and often buyers would return just to see if I put out any new 'used' stuff. My last one was three years ago and to this day my wife'll ask, "Where's the 'so-and-so'?" and I

Nope. It was a farmhouse built by my ancestors in the mid-late 1700s in SW Pennsylvania, way out in the boonies. When we'd visit my grandparents and the cistern was low, pumping water was your only choice. There were no showers in the house just a tub and you sometimes shared the water. The outhouse was often put back in use too. We moved there in the early 70's and paid a fortune to have "city water" piped in and that line would sometimes freeze.

A 7 month old dies from swallowing a laundry pod?

I read a story just this morning of a kid in Australia found with elevated levels of lead in his blood. Seems he ingested some 54 shot pellets and they had lodged in his appendix. The family said it was a game the kids would play, make the pellets disappear. I went looking for the story again to find out his age and noticed that it's a common question on line, "Is it dangerous if my child eats BBs, split shot, shotgun pellets, sinkers, etc. It's a real short trip from a child's hand to their mouth.... -
Folks were much more mindful of water usage when they had to go out and pump the stuff out of a well and then carry it into the house. We had a cistern that collected the rain from the roof of the barn and electrically pumped water into the house but during dry periods you primed a hand pump that sat on a well and filled buckets one at a time. Perfect job for kids.

Depression era got me thinking, my Grandmother washed aluminum foil to reuse it, reused the mesh potatoes and onions came in, would remelt soap, saved metal coffee and other cans, bottles, the foil bottoms of food trays were hung out in the garden to chase away birds, anything paper was saved to start fires in the fireplace, they threw away almost nothing.

From the Paulding County Tax Assessors website: Property Record Search The Paulding County Assessor makes every effort to produce the most accurate information possible. No warranties, expressed or implied are provided for the data herein, its use or interpretation. The assessment information is from the last certified tax roll. All other data is subject to change. I'm not sure when the last certified tax roll was but you can search their website for property information for free.

"Neighboring homeowner" meaning you or anyone living next door to a foreclosed property. As for the bank, yes it is their responsibility but it costs them money (profit) to upkeep a property that they're losing money on and they won't do it unless someone requires them to. Come next election cycle and Mr. Politician needs dollars to get elected, will Mr. VP or Mr. Pres. at the bank see him as a friend or foe of the bank and the banking industry?

Problem is grass needs cut almost every week especially with all the rain we've had. Sure the county could cut it and then bill the homeowner (bank) or levy fines but that would tick off the bank. Who would you rather have mad at you, a bank with financial resources (influence) or a neighboring homeowner that's only recourse is to get mad?

Not to mention the sulfuric acid that'll go everywhere when the case cracks.

My Dad would gripe at my Mom about all the "stuff" that was squirreled away in the attic, garage, basement, closets, at their houses. It was an accumulation of 200 years of a family that really couldn't throw anything away and the combining of those properties. He decided it was a Scottish trait but then found out his great grandfather was from Edinburgh (which explains his collection of junk, I mean treasure). In the end they did get rid of almost all of it, and now my garage, attic, closets are bursting at the seams. My shed holds all the yard tools and such cause my garage at this house is

When a battery discharges is also produces a small quantity of hydrogen gas which pushes on all sides of the battery causing the bottom to swell slightly. That'll allow it to bounce and if there is a weak seam, it'll leak out that white chalky stuff.

Seems a shame that an antique store would choose to be located in a new fangled strip mall instead of what appears to be an antique building. I know, location-location-location, but if this type of store can't make it in old downtown Hiram nothing will. And yes I too am to blame as I drove past 2-3 times a month and never stopped.

I'm leery of anyone in a public place that's wearing a backpack when there's no obvious reason to be sporting one (a school or if they have an infant with them makes sense). Anyone remember Eric Rudolph?

Weather's been a problem this spring/summer, all the rain slowed construction.
