  1. It doesn't say Paulding is the worst it says "the ring includes" and starts with Paulding....It's a June 2011 article....He does say that unfinished developments will become ghost developments and there is minor truth to that, those that live there will stay there or sell. The empty lots won't be worth the investment of a builder because he'll have to build a $300K home in a subdivision where the houses only sell for half that. It'll be more profitable to find raw acerage he can get cheaper and then build what he can sell and make a profit on. But whole areas aren't going to become ghost towns
  2. Didn't like Clinton then, don't like him now. (Or her for that matter) Everyone talks of the prosperity under his presidency but that was a result of Reaganomics and boomers entering into their greatest earning potential (their 40s and 50s) of their careers. The few decisions he did make pushed us toward the mess we're in today. But people treat him like he's some rock star.
  3. Saw the tour bus coming out of there yesterday morning. Maybe it was full of furniture, and dishes and gold records'n stuff...
  4. Look at the history of gas prices since the 1970s, they've been on a steady rise and are not a reliable barometer of current economic trends. As for the county, development is stagnant, home prices are still falling and the job market is stale. This is a trend that started in 2007 and is a result of private and political actions taken in the past 30 years. Can you hang it all on Obama? No but when your team continues to lose you can bet a coaching change will happen.
  5. The amount you pay in property taxes will only go down if the assessors office reevaluates and lowers your property value. Of course if you have the time you can fight your tax apprasial. As for the movie studio, how often are they filming and what percentage of revenue generated stays in the county? One property I was involved with in Atlanta was with Disney and all the big saleries were people they brought in from California.
  6. I heard yesterday that they've now discovered a new tick transmitted disease with two cases reported in the midwest. It's something other than Lyme.
  7. Alan Greenspan sure understood Bin Ladens objectives and many of his decisions made after 9-11 were an attempt to ward off Bin Ladens desired affects. Of course fixing that problem just caused another.
  8. I had this conversation with my in-laws this past Sunday. They lean way left and are angry with a common friend that starts every facebook post with something like "You're an idiot if you don't think like this" and then includes a link to a Fox News story. People have the right to their own opinions, if you don't agree then debate them with facts or at least the basis for your opiniion. Why do people think a derogatory comment has any merit when in truth it only lessens the speaker in the eyes of the reader?
  9. I can't stand morning talk radio in any format, they sit there and laugh and laugh at something that's not even funny. Guess I'm just getting old....Losing all these stations, now I'll have to go back and dump them from all my presets. And satellite? I dumped them when they started charging me to cover their cost for the right to broadcast songs. XM is on the way out anyway, another victim of the personal play device generation.
  10. It's difficult if you have a break in a line or if you're doing maintenance not to get soil in the line. The fire department will often open fire hydrants to flush this out but they don't always get it all. Let it run and it should clear. Don't forget to occationally open the valve at the base of the water heater to drain soil and stuff out of there. Catch it in a bucket or attach a hose and run it to a drain. Careful, it'll be hot.
  11. While I believe it's a moral obligation to report abuse, I don't think it should be criminal if you don't. If you want to arrest someone go after the family of the child first from the Grands on down to anyone of legal age. Either they ignored the situation or they didn't want to get involved and that makes them neglagent.
  12. The T-Man (Travis) lives around the corner from me, we exchange Christmas cards and talk over the fence.....Naw not the last part but he does live just over yonder.
  13. Late August and into September the hives begin to spread. They've had all summer to grow their numbers and this time of the year they begin to split the hives and go out looking for a new home. A hole in the ground is a perfect place for them so keep an eye out.
  14. So in theory the use of Viagra and similar will cause an increase in genetic abnormalities in the newborn population. Maybe that's why the good Lord causes the plumbing to stop working in the first place.
  15. Where does it say that these Latino college students DON'T speak English?
  16. Gotta close it down when ya change the fryer oil, can't have witnesses....McDs recently changed their business plan opting to renovate existing units vs building new ones.
  17. Aw poop on a stick, I forgot. Hopefully there will be no line after work.
  18. I agree, they were all in on it someway or another. Land deals, banking deals, Freddie/Fannie, lobbiest, the politicians from the past 20+ years all have blood (or blood money) on their hands. And we get Newt shoved out front...
  19. That's not poverty, that's disease and starvation in apparently some third world country and thankfully not how poverty is defined in the US. A better picture of poverty in America would be the frozen body of an elderly woman who couldn't afford the energy to provide heat through the winter because she had to choose between eating or heat. Happens 100's of times a year.
  20. I thought they closed at dark too but by neighbor told me that Taylor Farm, with it's indoor facilities, is open until 11.
  21. I wanted the door, the only thing of substance I had, to be between him and me should the need arise. If he stepped toward the threshold the door was closing quickly. As for looking out, I've got the motion and porch lights off because of the Christmas lights, the stoop is rather dark and you'd never see anything out the doorway sidelights. Need to fix that. As for loaded guns (an unloaded gun is basically an interesting paper weight) I've got young kids in the house.
  22. Last night just after dark (6:15 or so) my door bell rang. We don't get a lot of walk-by traffic out here, just sales calls or people with cars brokedown. This was a young guy wearing a hoodie that didn't bother to introduce himself but said: "You don't know me but I'm walking from Kennesaw and do you know where Pine Valley Road is?" I told him it was just up the street as I backed up slightly behind the front door. He said: "I been walking since 9 this morning and was wondering if you could give me a ride" as he looked at his smartphone with what appeared to be a GPS program on it. I asked wh
  23. Often times the blowing or snorting will include stomping of a front foot in an attempt to get the unknown entity to move so that the deer can identify or locate what they aren't sure of. Does and fawns will bleet to call to each other. Bucks make a grunting sound to challenge other male deer or to get the attention of the does. The underside of the tail is white so that when they run other deer or fawns can see where to follow. Deer are rather social creatures with a communication system all their own.
  24. He also parked in handicapped spots because he felt, according to the biographer, he was somehow above the rest of us.
  25. It's a whitish substance the consistancy of a puddy. Hadn't thought of the hot water heater. Nope, no water filter or softener.
