Sometimes people do say negative things about people to either make themselves feel better or to cover their fear that something like that could happen to them or their family. Other times it is just stating facts and cold hard facts can sometimes be tough to swallow, when we would prefer that things not be as they are.

My wife's son paid a pretty penny for his English Bulldog, at the time I asked my wife; Why is he paying that much for a dog? You can get a free dog anywhere, people just let em out of cars. By the way, the bulldog now lives with us. I have found that a lot of those who pay big $ for animals end up getting rid of them later. Not all people of course, I have just seen it happen a lot.
