We have used the Eddie Bauer one that came with our travel system. I have no complaints about it, it's larger than other travel system car seats and my girls were able to use it until they were ready for a larger car seat. To be honest, I'm not even sure what brand we have for the two we have for my older daughter. But we put her in it just after turning one forward facing. We've never been in an accident thankfully, so I can't tell you how well it works. We'll most likely be purchasing two more just like the ones we have to put in our cars for our daughter that's almost one. They are mostly b

All seats have to pass the same safety standards, so once you get to the point that it's legal to sell you're basically paying extra for padding, fabric, and cup holders.

Rude? I think it's a waste of money to tip 50% on an over inflated bill. But if they want to waste their money that way then so be it. I just could think of 101 better ways to spend my money than tipping 50% of a bill at a prestigious eatery.

I guess there is truth to the saying "a fool and his money are soon parted"

He could go live in a monistary or however you spell it.

Federal or State? We filed earlier this week, I was expecting the Federal back fairly quickly, but I figured the state would be slow. We had to file in GA and in AL, so we'll get 3 returns.

Help me decide what to do with this check

That was hilarious. I would just do it in a bank account or a 529. My inlaws set up 529 plans for the girls and they contribute a good bit each year. I started just plain savings for them to use for whatever they may want one day. If they want to put it towards education, a car, a wedding, a house. It probably won't amount to a whole lot, but I know it would be nice to have a little something to start out life with. The account we set up was a minor account and I am the custodian, so only I can withdraw from it until they turn 18. -
Help me decide what to do with this check

I set up bank accounts for my kids, and if there's nothing they need I just deposit it. Your grandmother is probably pissed about how off her bank account is from you not depositing your checks. -
Some of us that were smart enough to start saving from a very young age weren't lucky enough to be able to keep that savings through layoffs and life events.

Have a baby and then we'll talk. Having my kids involved major abdominal surgery to get them out. Which led to an incision not healing properly the first time which required twice weekly trips to the hospital for wound care. The second one ended up with me getting an allergic reaction to the antibiotic which sent me into the emergency room. Not to mention my newborn the second time wasn't gaining or eating as they wanted so I had to keep taking her to the doctor weekly until she got back to her birth weight. So between my trips to the doc and the babies I could MAYBE be at home 2 days a week w

I'm 33 and have no pension, no 401k, and no hope of social security. I also have a 2.5 year old and an almost 1 year old. I won't be retiring unless I hit the jackpot.

I worked from home about 2 weeks after the birth of my second daughter, but my husband was home to help with the girls, and I was working when I could, not a set schedule. I full time work from home now, and I can do everything I did in the office at home. It is a little cumbersome sometimes to communicate well and quickly because people tend to just forget I'm not in the office to hear every conversation. But on the flip side I am available after hours and can usually get more work done at home than when I was in the office because there are no distractions.

Maybe the location of the library? I don't know. I know The Book Shelter has an active book club that meets once a month I believe. I think they take turns picking books and have met at the store or at local eating establishments. It's been going quite a while.

Don't you work in healthcare? You forgot to put in your over inflated salary.
-
I hope you're kidding. I was working with 2 kids and a husband (he was temp off work) we couldn't afford healthcare coverage, but made too much for medicaid. If we would have gone to the hospital I guarendamtee you we would have had to pay for it. I got nickeled and dimed for going to doctors and paying out of pocket for emergencies. However when I was pregnant with both my daughters and the only one working we got free medical coverage from the govt with no expectation of a co-pay even though we could have paid something, just not everything. Being in the middle is the hard part when you

Autism...what I need to know, and who can tell me?
kwood replied to bvrat5199's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Do you and your wife talk to him a lot, or point things out to him? With my daughter we started very early pointing at things and naming them, and then by the time she was about 15 months we would start pointing at animals and saying what sound they make. At 15 months we would ask what does a duck say and she would say quack. We just verbally interact with her a lot (not like sitting and teaching, I just talk a lot and talk to her and about her even before she was verbal). Now she won't quit talking, and repeats EVERYTHING I say. -

From what I have always heard, girls tend to be ahead of boys at this stage. Your 21 month old doesn't seem that far behind my girl and she is almost 2.5. I'm trying to remember what she was doing at 2. She did have words, but they weren't always clear, and definitely not sentences. She is in daycare, and the other kids in her class are no where near her verbal skills, so I'm guessing your kid is normal. A friend of mine has a son the same age as my oldest daughter and they just diagnosed her son on the autism spectrum, but he didn't walk until he was about 18 months old, and he only says -
I have a Kindle Fire, and the Fire HD 8.9. Personally, I like the Kindle HD 8.9 better for internet, facebook, and magazines. I prefer the size of the original Kindle if I'm reading a book, the HD 8.9 just seems a little big, and they don't make the Snugg case for the larger Kinds Fire (however I contacted the manufacturer and they are coming out with one soon). The screen on the HD is noticeably clearer for reading and photos. So in short, if I was going to be solely reading books I'd stick to the original Kindle Fire, but the multimedia stuff I prefer the HD. When the Snugg case comes out fo

We just got a traditional mattress with a memory foam topper built into it, I like it, it's firm, but soft feeling.

How do you define better. Prettier, cleaner, richer, thinner, smarter? Those things make you a "better" person? If that's how you judge the content of a persons character, that says a lot about you. Personally I judge a person on their morals, their ideals, how hard they work, how they treat others.

I don't think that we should encourage people to settle for a MW job, and by increasing it and saying that it should be a living wage makes it that way. MW jobs are for teens, people in school, people living with their parents trying to improve themselves, spouses working a part time second job, not for people to work 40 years at McDonalds and retire. And yes, I've worked MW jobs, I worked them in high school, and all through college, and I think the last time I had a MW job it was at $5.25 an hour, when I started it was $4.25 I think.

Also, wouldn't the claim by a certain democrat woman saying that $1 dollar of unemployment income brings in $1.75 in economic stimulation mean that the economy could be growing because people are spending unemployment income yet not getting jobs?

Maybe this is why I wasn't successful as a real estate agent.
