  1. Here's a link for private plans if you want to get some quotes Georgia Benefits
  2. Great news workinmom! Sometimes those meds can have nasty side affects. I hope tomorrow is even better!
  3. Is she eligible for COBRA if she resigns? If so, then she really needs to get in contact with COBRA. I know someone who was laid off a while ago, and she is on COBRA. With the stimulus package/subsidy, the COBRA is MUCH cheaper than an individual plan, and quite possibly cheaper than some group plans. She and her husband have had no issues with it. It used to be that COBRA was the full price of the plan, including what the employer paid. I cant imagine anyone on unemployment ever being able to afford it. Good luck to both of you.
  4. Angel Eyes, I understand your frustration, but you may be barking up the wrong tree. Do we all need to pay attention to what is going on? Yes. But telling them all they need to be fired, is NOT the way to go about it. I would not want to be fired for something that happened before I was hired at my job. That doesnt make much sense, does it? As far as the school books go...maybe its time to get up to the digital age and move forward from actual paper books. My children are doing just fine with A's and B's...and they are learning! If there is a subject that they need more assistance on,
  5. I love this time of year, too! Apple anything! Pies, crisp, applesauce Stews, soups, chowders fresh air sweatshirts I do enjoy summers, but when fall arrives, I'm usually ready for it.
  6. Homemade chicken soup...we have been eating it all afternoon! And I made a confetti cake, with heart shaped candies on top for the 3 most important men in my life! I also made egg salad for my boyfriends sandwiches for work tonight, and put together a meatloaf for supper tomorrow. I love cooking on dreary weekends! Oh, I am still making broth, to freeze for later, too. Same with me, although these boys dont really allow many leftovers these days!
  7. What on earth do you do at the gym for 3 hours??? Do they have a couch and tv? LOL!
  8. You have a great Sunday, too! Keeping a log is a good idea, and knowing what causes the pain, and what helps it. Do you think it causes more pain when you are up moving around because your blood is pumping harder? If you are not taking the pain meds, and the pain causes more anxiety...you may feel a lot worse. I hope your day is good!
  9. I love rainy days....for some reason it makes me feel energetic. I'm doing some housework, and finishing up my homemade chicken soup that I started yesterday. Then snuggling up and watching Nascar!!
  10. And he compares his situation to David and Goliath in an attempt to brainwash his followers into believing the word of God expects them to back him up. I wonder if they served kool-aid this morning.
  11. Its not just the one that loses. There are attorneys that will escalate it, making it a worse drawn out battle. I would think this would happen in cases where the people have money to begin with. If you dont really have much money, no attorney will waste his/her time trying to make a lengthy court battle, which cant be paid for anyway. You definately need an attorney, but you need to use your own brain too. When I split with my ex, I offered/agreed for him to get the house. I wanted a safe place for the kids when they were with him, and I wanted to move closer to my family. He couldnt
  12. Either way, a 15 year old shouldnt be in a relationship like this. Heck, none of us should. But at 15, life should still be fun and innocent. Very sad, and I hope she has learned and will put her life in a different direction.
  13. I have a homemade broth in the works for the rainy weather!! Bring it on! (but no floods)
  14. Really? I dont remember my high school having any rules of who I left with. If I was getting out early, my mother would write a letter asking to please excuse me at such and such a time, for a doctors appointment or whatever. She wouldnt even come in the school. If she was picking me up, she would wait in the car, and I would just go. Also, when we were in school, you could ride with other teens that just got their license. There was no way for the school to see who rode with who. The bell rang, and we all went to the parking lot. Heck, many times we didnt even know who we were riding wi
  15. Awwww, dont let it work you up!!! Make your mind up, on what you are going to do. If you are going to wait until Monday, then there isnt anything you can do about it..and panicking wont help. Have a cup of warm tea or something comforting, close your eyes, and think positive!!! The power of positive thinking is real. Go to dinner and celebrate 13 great years, and worry about tomorrow when it gets here. Oh, and Happy Anniversary!!!
  16. And you have been on these for how many days? Over a week? I dont have much experience with infections and stuff, but I would think the symptoms would have lessened by now. If you feel this strongly about it, you need to demand at least a blood test. But, you should demand it from your primary care doc..not the ER. Good luck, and I hope you are feeling better soon!!!
  17. I really like this part, as these are my rules. There is no handbook, but some guidelines may increase your chances that they wont do as many stupid things.
  18. Is any of that medication antibiotics for an ear infection? If you have any sort of infection, your lymph nodes will swell to fight it off. They may even swell to rid your body of the toxins from the bite. Even though the actual bite has heeled, it doesnt mean your body is done fighting toxins. Swollen lymphnodes can be sore. Do you have a fever? I dont know what I would do, if I were you. I tend to wait much longer than most people before going to the doc the first time around, so I'm not a good person to advise when to go. You know your body more than anyone else.
  19. Ceejay, you have every right to brag! Your kids turned out good, and that is no easy task! I'm on the same page as you in regards to MY children, but I can understand why my mother did what she did. Her choices were to allow my father to stay, and put our food money in his crack pipe, or make him leave and make the tough choices of not being with us every minute. It is possible for a child to stay out of trouble, when their parents are busting their butts to make ends meet. Its also possible for a child of great parents to get in trouble. I have no problem blaming the boy in this story, HE
  20. I do agree with you, and now see that we are both saying the same thing. Yours were pretty much raised at 15, and did well. That IS a reflection on what you taught them their entire life. I'm just saying that there are instances where parents are doing the best they can, and the children make mistakes. My mother did the best she could, and I was responsible for what I did, at 15...because I was pretty much raised. That doesnt mean I didnt do the wrong things on occasion. But, the kids that had their parents up their arse the whole time, did those bad things too. They found a way to do it,
  21. I have been a single parent too, but not of teenagers. I dont remember my mother asking me ONE TIME about homework, or going to open houses, or talking to my teachers. I got A's and B's all the way, because that was my responsibility. I also did some dumb things, but I knew what I was doing. A child at 15 CAN make smart decisions on their own..it is possible. My mother didnt have money for a sitter for us. She was probably more at ease knowing we were home rather than out. Just because a child appears to be good, doesnt mean they are. Maybe the first time a parent realizes their childs f
  22. Ceejay, you've made excellent points, and I agree with you in regards to raising my own children. BUT, when I look back at how I was raised, I can see how these things can happen. My father developed a drug addiction, and my mother forced him to leave when I was 10. We had to be on food stamps, and almost lost our home. My Mom started college during the days, and worked at night. When I was 15, she wasnt around much. I take FULL responsiblity for everything I did at that age..because I did know right from wrong. She was sweating blood trying to figure out how to keep food on the table an
  23. That was funny!! I didnt catch that when I first read her post!
  24. That sounds so nice! And the way you described it, I almost felt like I was there!! Thank you! I need to make a "to go to" list....
  25. Very handsome little man!!! All of you with all these adorable baby pics are making my emotions crazy...but I'm done. ETA: Keep the pictures coming, they are all so precious!
