  1. If you think they speak bad done cancel it until after you call directv. They are worse trust me! I'm not sure about dish network though. I have had my share of problems with Comcast but they have always made it right.
  2. He is only in 5th grade now, so it wasnt that long ago (right before Ragsdale was built). Yah, I understand about the North schools. I was talking to a lady that lives in my area, but teaches there. She said she couldnt believe children were fundraising for supplies in this area because they have no problems. Thats pretty sad that schools in the same county are operating so much differently. But, I see this as another whole problem too. I understand the concept of just saying "No". Its kind of like grounding your child. You dont just take the games system, you take EVERYTHING. But
  3. I was going to! I had someone from India (DTV) on the phone for 30 minutes just getting the basic info...including my phone number (in case we got disconnected). Well, then we got disconnected. I waited for them to call me back for 30 mins, and they never did. So, I commenced to call India again, and spent another 30 minutes in the start up stage. It was going in my boyfriends name because he had supposedly already had his info on file. So, by the time I got to the SSN part for the second time, he had to head out for scouts. She said he had to be here to approved the credit part. I tol
  4. They have told me in the past that I have to sign something for the deals, but I havnt for this one. I havnt gotten a bill yet either. BUT, I will say that if your deal ends and you have paid full price for a few months, you can call them and get them to put you on their latest and greatest promo.
  5. Or the icons for topics we should stay out of?
  6. Hmmmmmm, I think its you!!! Mine's changed too. I thought I got a virus from being in that SPLOST topic!!!
  7. Shopping in other counties will only be paying their SPLOST, and funding their schools. That makes no sense to me. And what is anyone going to do about it when the increase in property tax funds are spent frivilously? Still doesnt solve the problem. See how its two seperate things? No matter where the money comes from, they will spend it how they want unless they are held accountable. I think they should and can be voted out for crazy spending, no matter where it comes from. No? Also, the one in bold--thats another whole topic we need to start. I just heard about t
  8. I was about to switch from Comcast to DTV, but Comcast has a great deal. There is a Premiere upgrade (cant remember the exact name) but I was paying $57 for cable, and $47 for internet. I called and upgraded (it added a bunch more channels with Encore) and the cable part is $9.99 for 6 months then $75 after that. It would take 14 months or so, to have it be a waste of money. Then, I cut back my internet to $24.95 month. Oh, and free HBO for 6 months. So, if you have Comcast...they do have really good deals right now.
  9. I dont know about the prior spending, but there will always be unhappy people. Take a child bound for college, majoring in computer technology. His parents dont understand why we pay for an art room. Then you have the child bound for college, majoring in art. His parents dont understand why the schools are spending money on computers. Not every child is the same, and we cannot mold them ALL into being the same. Schools need to have a variety, or we can just go back to the 3 R's and call it good. I guess some think its easier to vote "No", than to watch the spending.
  10. Okay, so its the PEOPLE that are the problem. Vote them out then. Dont shoot yourself in the foot by cutting off the funding that you NEED in the county. BTW: the "No" vote is the "Yes, add it to my property taxes" vote...just worded differently.
  11. There will always be property tax. It pays for roads, police, fire, schools, etc. From what I understand, the property taxes used to fund these educational purposes hasnt been in our property taxes. If SPLOST doesnt get renewed, it will be added to your property taxes. No matter which way you vote on this, you will still be paying it. It will either 1. Remain the same percent on purchases that are made in Paulding County or 2. Be added to your tax bill. If it gets voted down, you will save $1 on every $100 purchase in the store, but your tax bill WILL increase. So, if you really dont wan
  12. I really enjoy reading your analysis', thank you! My biggest fear is that we keep voting no to contributing to our county, and Paulding County looks like East Point in 10 years. I DONT want that. I would rather pay to have a nice neighborhood/county, thats what I like about being here. Accountability for funds is what needs the work.
  13. I see that there are two seperate issues here. 1. Where the money will come from 2. How the money will be spent Voting NO on SPLOST doesnt guarantee that money wont be spent in areas that we do not want. It guarantees that the money will ALL come from homeowners. Almost every county in Georgia has the Education tax AND the Special Interest Tax, including Paulding County. So, shopping in another county, only supports THEIR schools. Pull up the tax rates per county in Georgia, and you will see. Every time you shop in another county, you are paying their SPLOST. So, lets put o
  14. This is not my idea of a nice cozy life, but it isnt my place to tell them not to. I was a little wary about this show at first, but I watched it. It wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be, and there were some advantages of the lifestyle. I think as long as nobody is getting hurt, abused, etc, they should be left alone. I dont think they should be made an example of, just because they went on tv. I'm sure thats all it is, because its not like everyone doesnt know what goes on in Utah! And they seemed to have very well rounded, polite children. You dont see that every day on tv!
  15. I have never read true crime books, but I love to read the Dateline crime stories. They are so much better than watching it on tv. I have no clue why I like this sort of thing, but I'm a little happier knowing that I'm not the only one! I guess I better try some books.
  16. I didnt know that! Way to go, stepping up to the plate!!! Thats funny!!!!! Well, sort of.
  17. OMG, I know!! I had a mini yard sale trying to get the garage cleaned out from stuff we havnt used in years. My boyfriend went to get pizzas, and I busted my BUTT to get stuff cleaned up and in the trash bin while he was gone!!! Then, I made him watch "Hoarders".
  18. Oops, I didnt know you lived there! J/K, sorry about people littering on your property.
  19. I have boycotted Douglasville! I took the kids school shopping at Arbor Place 2 years ago, and havnt been back to Douglasville since!! There is just too much congestion. We couldnt find anything they wanted, I almost had a panic attack, and the traffic was crazy. When you sit at a red light for 25 minutes, you know theres a problem! This is what I looked like when I got home: or this Anyway, it would be nice if they put one in Hiram. I love their selection, and they have pretty good prices too!
  20. Same here! But very creative, and usually the posts inside the topic are entertaining too! I HAVE to get by there soon and check it out.
  21. Dont you think its more costly than a private plan, though? I guess a lot of it depends on how often you go to the doctor, and what you are looking for most out of a plan. If there are pre-existing conditions, then you are right, Cobra works for that. I got layed off about 6 years ago, and my Cobra was going to cost more than my unemployement check.
  22. Oh darn, I didnt know it expired! I knew they were still on it, but didnt here of the expiration date if you lose your job after that. BTW, when I said she needed to get into contact with COBRA, I was meaning she needs to get the information, or call the employer again. Geesh. Yes, I thought about it after, and remembered it doesnt matter how you lose your job in order to get Cobra. The problem I had, was I didnt lose my job, just my insurance..so I wasnt eligible. Well, that stinks...sorry Shananigans! In that case, the private plans are probably cheaper. The private individual pl
  23. It used to be stupid expensive, but the subsidy was part of the stimulus package given out a while back. I know they still have theirs, and for husband and wife (no kids), I want to say its somewhere slightly over $300 a month. I'm not sure if the price depends on the plan that your company had though. I'm pretty sure that Cobra is the way to go versus private insurance. Way to look on the bright side!!!
